@Physorac Your mileage may vary. One pair of cymbals works pretty well, the other was terrible...creating a lip of tape absorbed the shock that caused double hits very reliably for a while, but later some would still get through.

the thing i dont like about the cymbals is how they tell you to set it up like the green is a ride and the blue is a crash, when on most of the songs the green is the crash and the blue is a ride.. i made my blue lower than the green to make it feel a little better.

Are you playing the freestyle in the drum practice mode on the game or thru a pc? Because mine has lots of lag. And if you are playing thru a PC i was wondering what program you use to get such low latency

@progdrummer4851 It's on Practice Mode. If you're getting bad latency, try using a different AV connection than the HDMI. At my buddy's house long ago, HDMI introduced several frames of lag to the sound (for all games I expect), it was awful. Switched to Component with straight audio and it was fine.

Rockband kits are stupid, they sound like a Yamaha synthesizer from 1985....Buy a real electronic drum kit. you can set each one how you like and it sounds more organic :D PLus they arent very expensive

Good e-drums can sound better than a real drum and you can also have different setups without changing your entire kit. True it's not the same as a regular drum kit but it's damn close and immensely useful.

@smileyman455 What about the Ion kit huh? That was originally developed for rock band. Then they added the DM's(Drum Modules) That were compatible with them. The DM6 and DM5 sets are really great. And have many sound samples for each pad...

When you take the ION rocker kit, and rip off the xbox or ps3 module, and put on a DM6 or a DM5, then everything changes. The kit is a very capable drum set. It's the fact that Rock Band isn't a good enough module to make it sound good. The only real difference that you can dispute is the Module's that are used... Get what I'm saying?

@Marofsky I get what you're saying but you are still just hitting one pad with lots of sounds. Good e-drums you can do all the same things as a real drum kit rather than just emulating the sound. For instance if you hold the hi-hat and get a different sound than if you were to just hit it, just like you can on a real kit :D So instead of 1 pad, 1 sound, you get multiple sounds depending where you hit it which is really awesome

@smileyman455 Yeah with good e-drums you can do that. But with the DM6 kit, you do have the ability to change the samples by where you hit it. And it's the rock band drum kit, you can hit the outer edge and the sound will change rather than the middle.

So free-styles on an electronic kit are real, but not on the Rock Band kit? It requires just as much skill to sound good. Even when you're playing a song, it's note for note, requires most of the same skills as real drumming. Besides, it's a game. No need to take it so seriously, he is not saying "look at me im so beast cuz i can play rok band!!!11!!!11!!". It's just a demonstration video.

@gamekidillon12 it's only watching notes (the colours) and just hit them. At a real drum you have to play without reading the coulourfull notes. So you have to know what to hit. Guitar hero and rockband is actually a kind of cheat :) alot of techniques that you can use in a real drum isn't availble in guitar hero and rockband. I'm not saying i hate rockband, because i play it too and it's fun to play sometimes :)... however, a real drum is alot of more fun to play :) and yeah, it's a game :D

I managed to clamp mind on, kinda...just two clamps on one side. you can even see in the video the green cymbal clamp keeps slipping down, but adding a little tape keeps it up.

If you have any desire to fool around on a more realistic set, but don't want to spend the money on a real kit...  or are a crummy amateur drummer... then it's definitely worth it. It doesn't really add anything to gameplay except for the ability to actually play something before/after each song, and during fills.

I wish they'd support them better, let you choose the sample for each pad/cymbal. Or give us different "kit" presets. I'd rather have 2 crashes and 2 toms, or an open hat...

there are three cymbal ports that go to the drum brain one for each ad (except red) if you have 4 cymbals you have to have atleast one splitter to use them all

Clamp the clamp over the knuckle, like it's designed for. It's not very clear where they meant for it to be clamped.

If that fails, tape. Or if you're really exuberant, drill a hole through the clamp and the leg and put a pin or screw through.

Hey man I got the cymbals today and they just don't respond properly on fast notes. They usualyl seem to work but on all nightmare long of metallica on ghm for example is a mess and even when I pass that song on expert, I fail if I use the hihat. Please tell me more about the tape solution, and will it help with that problem?

There's way more edits than that in there, switching between various songs at different speeds. Except there isn't an edit at 0:26. Unless you mean at 0:29 with the obvious cross dissolve.
