  • are you doing any gigs in Manchester, England? I'd love to see this live!

  • yes it true beethoven's waldstein sonata has this sense of motion and mood.

    very good dear.

  • Simply wonderful... thank you for sharing!

  • Great performance.

The point is: musical classicism hasn`t been invented in sense of terminology until- it was over ;)

So, I don`t know why this piece should be more classical, and less romantic in compairason with early Schubert sonatas, for example. Of course, Beethoven owns so much to Mozart. And Appassionata is for people that knows something his greatest sonata. Moonlight and Pathetique are great, but Apassionata has done more for me.

  • Hi Valentina:

Great interpretation - are you going the record the the accompanying (C minor?) sonata?

  • Hi, Valentina!

    You're so gracious and confident!

There's no one better than you in my humble opinion.

    Congratulations!

  • Bosy Imperial! my my my! have you thought of recording anything written for the instrument itself?

  • It's very scary at the start!

  • This is the Mozart I like, dramatic, deep and gentle all at once.

  • will you perform in Italy?? we are waiting for you!! a big kiss!! :)

  • This is your first Mozart I'm listening to. I'm working on 23th concerto la majour (A Major) I would love to hear you playing it, is it in your schedule? Since you are my favorite your ideas are very important to me.

    Thanks

    Take care of yourself.

  • incredible, absolout incredible

  • Yes, the beginning is Mozart in a somber mood, and foreshadowing the music of the future... rather like the Dissonances Quartet. Brava, Valentina, you do him justice.

  • I think that you belong to the list of the greatest pianists nowadays. My compliments for your wonderfull performances. You are good in every style.

  • As a pianist, watching you play makes me cry... both tears of joy and tears of sadness :p

  • I am learning this piece and have met VL but unfortunately her magic did not translate to my playing. I can only listen in awe!

  • my favorite place 08:26 :)

  • @allmusic1994

It really is a beautiful passage.

  • @ysgwy comparing interpretations is not from the intellectual point of view, they are different.....

  • wonderful!!!!!

  • This piece looks to me as a whole story is being told...

  • La mejor !!!

  • What a precious experience.

  • Valentina, listening to this superb video, modeled on the best way, I thought you're among the few pianist with most pronounced sense of beauty of tone. I don't want to compare you with other major artists and participate in useless disputes, which is bigger, but for my taste, for example, Richter, Martha Argerich have too powerful forte, which inhibits for me the beauty of music itself. And your touché, your dynamics are perfect for my taste.

  • I absolutely adore your interpretation of this piece! I did this last fall for my piano jury and I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this piece! You should tackle some Debussy and Ravel. I'd love to hear your interpretations of J'eux Deau and Reflets Dans L'eau from Images Book 1. =) Happy Playing!

  • i see lisitsa for the first time on the web playing mozart!!!

  • This is my favorite piece by Mozart, thank you I think I just found a new song for my college audition repertoire :D

  • Love it.

I think I'll be playing this piece next semester. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • sublime piece indeed... as sublime is the interpretation! The Allegro and Andantino truly marvelous!

  • When will you be adding John Cage's 4:33 to the repertoire? I'd love to hear it on a Bosendorfer! ;-)

  • @ValentinaLisitsa: What other concert pianist shares your admiration of Bosie's? I've never seen anybody else insist as much as you do on playing on Bosies. I totally understand why you adore them.. because I do too. Of all the pianos I've tried playing, the Bosie 280 was my favorite. That's my dream piano (or the imperial of course!).

  • I'd love it if you played Mozart - Eine kleine nachtmusik 1st movment in piano. thanks

  • I am glad you played this Fantasie. I am performing this piece and the K457 sonata. I love them. Thank you. Yes they are sublime!!

  • this is amazing, not only is the music incredible, so is the camera work, I love it!

  • Absolutely brilliant! Her tone is so incredibly warm and enticing, and her clarity is just beautiful.

  • Great !! Great !! Wonderful !! Bravo !!

One of your greatest fans is looking forward to hear you live in Germany at Kempener Klosterkonzerte 29.01.2012.

Yesterday I got the tickets !!!! Yeah !!!!

  • why is 2:00 played at such an odd timing?

  • So beautiful. The piece itself and the oh so delicate rendition.

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of all times by any composer ever. Your rendition... simply splendid! Thank you!

  • She's my favorite female classical pianist!

  • Is there a way to get an MP3 for this lovely performance?

  • @hungryfordreams use vidtomp3 searh on google and take the first searh result, put the url from this video in the download field, and you are good to go :)

  • @UltimateKiwifruit marvelous, thanks buddy :)

  • what a beautiful interpretation of one of my favorites! This was one of the earliest pieces I discovered in my childhood and it haunts me still.

  • I associate this fantasy as my gateway to other composers. When first started listening to classical music it was exclusively Mozart sole piano and concertos. I had read about this fantasy and wanted to find it. I could only find it in a set of other works by Debussy (Childrens Corner), Chopin (2 mind altering nocturnes) and a Beethoven sonata (Op. 2, No. 2). I was totally blown away.

  • Ms Lisitsa, thank you for sharing! You are such a humble person, considering that you are one of the most talented persons alive today! Beautiful . Do you have any more DVDs planned for the future? I think I have played a hole in the 3 that I have.

  • Looking for the day you will perform in Greece

  • @kamadeus1 ....or maybe we had to "demand" by Megaron (The Athens Concert Hall ) an invitation in Athens, Greece...

by the way I'm an Andantino guy.....and I believe that this Imperial Bosy is perfect for you my dear Val !!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing with us a wonderful performance of this (in my opinion) quite unknown and underrated piece, in which Mozart seems to points far beyond from the 'classical' style for which he's mostly known.

    Greetings from Copenhagen.

P.D.: By the way, is Denmark perhaps among your forthcoming destinations?

  • And, she is also beautiful ;)

  • Do you rent these pianos or something?

  • @matiquielma Yes, exactly. The hall had a Steinway of unknown quality . I ahd to try this piano before I commit to recording on it. There is no better way to try it than to perform on it on stage. i am pretty happy with it.

  • you were in Bonn with that program, and i live very near...you played my fav. schubert, beet and mozart pieces..oh noo...i try all that to play..hmmmm i didnt know it...is that possible??

  • @abaer65

    Bonn, Germany. Recital

    WannDonnerstag, 8. Sep. 2011

    BeschreibungPrivate recital

Val? what means private? no cards to buy?

  • @Waldstein65 It was sponsored by a big real estate company and they issued their own invitations. No tickets were sold to public.

  • @ValentinaLisitsa

like the latest horowitz concertos...the german bank had had the tickets but i have now the 142#3 in HD with you..hihi..:-) my fav for a very long time

  • Looking for the day when you play mozarts 20th concerto and a minor sonata

  • @Vesivian Mozart #20? Next May in Freiburg . Sonatas , I will do a few next few months I think. Though I msut admit it is a detour from Beethoven project , the touch has to be soo different between the two.

  • 8:25 ahh this is my favorite bach fugue style chord progression of all time :D

  • fantastic playing! and the close ups on your hands are so visually stunning and surreal! kudos to you and your camera technician for this recording :)

  • So great overall....but your lead into and the explosiveness of emotion in minute 8.27 of this performance...It is where you and Mozart --at least for me-- are pure magic. Such powerful emotion. The performance is very moving.

  • I love how you read and reply to the comments on your videos. You are so down to earth!

  • I can't believe my eyes and ears! A Mozat piece! =)

Beautiful!! And yes this fantasia is very haunting. My favorite Mozart pieces are the ones in minor, and it's such a shame he didn't compose more on that key =)

You played it beautifully, I'm sure you're probably tired of hearing it, but you are a very tallented pianist, one of the best; and definitely my favorite ♥

I really could watch your hands moving in the piano all day long. You play with such grace =)

  • Still, lots of comments~~

  • oh, finally a piece by Mozart.

  • @MObaid27 More Mozart to come :)

  • And Mexico? :( Cuándo vendras?

  • why isn't she a youtube partner? or is she? another income source why not.

  • @TheRightNeutrino It makes real sense only for big entries that can negotiate with YT.

  • Comment removed

  • •Yes this fantasia shows the yen-yang of Mozart's emotional expression . It got my attention at an early age. Its a good warm up piece. You did very well . Bravo. If you don't mind my saying so ,you can stretch the contrasts even greater if you like. This is Wolfgang pushing the limits for his time, more charm and more stress.

  • @Wolfgang262 The most amazing performance - if not the most historically correct , was Richter playing this piece at Sakharov memorial. I heard it on TV as a little kid and it left a real dent in my heart. I agree with your comment , 100% . Thanks !

  • @ValentinaLisitsa Dear Valentina . Hello . Do you know of any recordings of the Richter/Sarharov memorial are available ? I would like to listen to it . I like old rear recordings of the great pianists , like Hofmann or Busoni. My first hearing of the Mozart Fantasy also was from a TV program called Victory at Sea , all be it only parts of it. Thank you for responding.

  • It is amazing! I would really love to know something about yourself, you should do a video talking about how did you start playing the piano and how often do you practice. it would be lovely!

  • Zu Beginn des Stückes bekomm ich Rückenschmerzen, allein vom Hinschauen *g*

    btw, wunderschön gespielt!

  • Maravillosa intepretación. Cuándo vendrás a Argentina?

  • @fritzien51 November 12 Bariloche , November 14 Buenos Aires Teatro Colon : Chopin and Liszt

  • Please come to Peru : (

  • Dynamic

  • I love how you manage to stay so close to your audience by using youtube! You definitely stand out because of it. Oh and of course I am addicted to watching your Youtube videos :)

  • This is a beautiful video.

  • very very good!! brazil loves you!

  • yeahh! Come to portugal! You're a great pianist and I want to listen to you live!

  • wheeeen are you coming to portugal? we're dying to see you here!

  • Just think of what Mozart would've experienced when hearing his work on this kind of instrument. He had to live with pianofortes and harpsichords and their limitations. Purists want to hear those limitations from way back to be preserved, I however more than welcome your presentday dynamics and pianistic mastery. You've got the future.

  • I don't get it.. where do you have a partiture!? Or do you know all this stuff by heart!?

  • ID DIE to hear you play rachmaninoff sonata 3rd movement on that piano! :) You work is out of this world! All the best!

  • How can you be so good in everything, Valentina? I love you!

  • Valentina = Boss

  • It would be wonderful if you could come to Greece too :)

  • beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for all new brilliant uploads.Agree,LP is better than CD and any digital sick format.

At last you are coming to Sweden.

  • @MrCapacitors In the middle of winter . It is going to be wonderful . Which palce is colder by the way - Sweden or Finland ? I am playing in Helsinki after - rach #4

  • @ValentinaLisitsa The cold is more in the north of Sweden but is almost the same in Finland. The winter is to long, dark and cold in Sweden.Looking forward seeing you there in Norrköping.

  • Ok I am in the row of: "Do you come here?"- with here I mean Denmark.

And thank you for the wonderful played fantasia.

  • @ursin1 No invitations - yet . I will try :)

  • Valentina! I'd love to hear a version played by tou of Liszt's liebestraum, the dream of love nocturne no. 3

I think you will do a really outstanding interpretation!

  • @mrektor i will do in in December , OK ? I promise

  • @ValentinaLisitsa O MY GOD!!!!!!!! THANKS YOU SO MUCH!!! I CAN'T BELEIVE!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!! :D :D :D

  • @Boulen3 Norrköping in January with Prokofiev #2

  • come to Malaysia!!!!! XD

  • Valentina, when do you come to France?! :)

  • Upload of YouTube of the Mrs.Val! day after day is very nice.

As for your performance, I always am always attracted by a beautiful sound.

  • Valentina, I'm stunned. You play Mozart with the same thrilling yet graceful way than everything else. What a treat it'd be if we got the chance to hear one of the Mozart concertos played by you :-) Maybe one day...

  • @belegSJ I always had great affinity to Mozart - actually , before Rachmaninoff ! I To post some concerto ....t is hard to get good video and a good sound , plus a permission from all parties . I guess I will ahve to do solo take of Mozart concerti :-)

  • @ValentinaLisitsa Solo takes will do just fine :-) Your rachmaninoff #1 and #2 solo takes were great (too bad there isn't #3 and #4...) so I'm sure Mozart will be too !

  • Excuse me for doing the same question in your videos. It is to make sure that at least one answer you .. lol. I am so desperate for RACHS because I did not hear today, that your interpretation better.

  • Valentina, come back to Brazil and I WANT THE RACH CONCERTIS :((((

  • @fevercovers Call DG customer service , will you ? Please :-)

  • Just a suggestion: how about you post on YT the magnificent rondeau fantastique you played in Rome? It was flawless, and a pleasure to hear!

  • @IBlackRockI Perhaps :-) Though I don't remember it being flawless :-) It was very hot , particularly with those overhead stage lights - and Kawai keys are notoriously slippery when subjected to sweaty fingers :-))))))

  • @ValentinaLisitsa Hmm, if it wasn't, as you say, then re-record it on your perfect bosy! lol :D

  • @IBlackRockI I am planning to just that . Liszt project is going to be done on Bosy . The one in this video ,actually. I will put a couple of Liszts on this piano - second half of the recital . Maybe tomorrow.

  • @ValentinaLisitsa Oh, but I can't wait for Liszt project to be finished to hear the Rondeau again :((

  • @IBlackRockI sure, I will be doing it from now on at every concert. . It is one crazy piece. I think it is more difficult than all of his Trancedental etudes. I know only of one person who played it - Pletnev , and then he said that he wouldn't play it anymore because it was unplayable.

  • That's What I'm Waiting For Girl <3 Love That video

  • are two days that are glued to the computer waiting for new videos! I'm crazy, crazy for you! I saw the video of the new album with Hilary Hahn, you're wonderful!
