When my grandpa died 2 years ago I was 11 I'm 13 now and this man mr. Bertoli came to visit I knew him most of my life he sounded just like my grandpa if I was blind I would have thought it was him. It brought back very nice memories

I had been away for 17 years, so I started thinking that I could never get that time back with him. He was the closest person in the world to me. I remember him calling me a lot and asking to speak with his grandson (my german shepherd Maxx). He'd talk to him a few minutes before he and I would talk. He had a great sense of humor, like you!
I'm sorry for your loss, Miss Alloy. My grandfather also died of sustained injury in a vehicular accident. He was on business trip in China and his car got side-crashed by a truck who beat a red. I feel bad that I never really got to know him better. I wish I did. May your daddy rest in peace.

my dad died when i was 10. We didnt have a memorial, just a funeral but his favourite song was played, 2 of them actually. Thankyou For Hearing Me by Sinead O'Connor and Imagine by John Lennon. The first song really stuck with me. 11 years on and my world still stops when i hear it. I think organ donation is a really amazing thing a person can do.

It's not just you -- it IS ironic that a tree is the memorial for a man who died from a collision with a tree. If he'd hit a deer they probably would NOT have a memorial deer. It's coincidence that he hit the object they use as a memorial, but it makes the memorial weird.

I've always said being a parent is the greatest adventure, I think being the child can be pretty cool. Part of him is still in you Karen, and you get to see that in your kids.

My condolences. This statement is probably old by now.
The tree does make for a bit of an odd irony.
Keep the recordings of his voice for as long as you can, even if it is a bit heartbreaking to hear.
We lost my little brother in Feb this year and I realized that the cell phone v-mail was the only recording we had of him.
I'm really sorry to hear that he lingered for so long. Hopefully he wasn't in a lot of pain.

Yea Im not sure about the playing of his voice - I was just thinking that I would not want my friends and family to go through any additional undue suffering that would cause - thank you - I will be ammending my will to hopefully prevent that at least at the funeral and any memorials. What they choose to do on their own is fine, but being caught unaware is a bit cruel - sorry you had to go through that.

my dad died when i was 10. We didnt have a memorial, just a funeral but his favourite song was played, 2 of them actually. Thankyou For Hearing Me by Sinead O'Connor and Imagine by John Lennon. The first song really stuck with me. 11 years on and my world still stops when i hear it. I think organ donation is a really amazing thing a person can do.

@norbanvs Highlanders wear kilts, which are actually more like a skirt (even for a man) with a specific pattern on it for a family or group (like the Campbells). A quilt is like a blanket but often made with an outside and an inside layer, and the outside could be made up of patches or panels that people make (usually by knitting, but there are other ways). Making kilts and making quilts can both be done by people at home. A lot of people are taking up this kind of craft work.
