I HAD the same one. I now have scars on my hand from it blowing appart. Many years ago I found that by spining it with 200lb of air presure from the airhose that it could ballance on a nail head for a long time. However, the centrifical force of that RPM caused it to fly appart in my hand shooting shards of it through my hand and sticking the metal rings in my arm and chest. DO NOT USE HIGH AIR PRESSURE TO SPIN THE GYROSCOPE!!!! Unless it's a goood bearing model as I have learned.

its because of gyroscopic precesion, the push of the gyroscope on the stand due to gravity makes it happen, because the push is at an angle it spins as gyroscopic precesion acts at 90 degrees to the angle of push relative to the axis of the wheel. im not sure but i think the spin is the oposite direction to the direction of the disc

i have that exact same gyroscope... wished they would last longer... the holes in the inner ring cause drag... poor design.

I know, but this design is not for optimal long last, this design was made according to old gyroscope model which was being offered in shops for kids at the begining of 20th century

buy Super Precision Gyroscope at the same web site which last longer than 7 minutes and electric motor for spinning is included :-)

Even though you come up with an intuitive explanation, I'm afraid it is far from correct. It is a lot more complicated than you think. You need to atleast understand the basic principles of Angular Momentum to get an idea og what's going on.

i know, but my explanation is one of the easiest explanations, think many people just want to know only this and nothing more, who really wanna know how this stuff work and understand all the hidden powers which trigger, they should read a book, it cant be mentioned in 7minute video on youtube

Nikdy jsem nebyl schopen pochopit gyro. Četl jsem o něm občas, že jo - letadla, lodě a v nich kompas, umělý horizont atd., který není ovlivňován náklonem a jeho střelka ukazuje bez výkyvů, protože je v gyrostatu a ten se točí po svým. Je mu zhola jedno, co letadlo právě vyvádí, nebo jestli se loď třebas potápí. Jakmile má svých (až) několik set tisíc ot./min, nic ho nevyvede z míry a správně ukazuje .. Fakt perfektně udělanej instruktážní film..super -:)
