  • May Christ bless your marriage greatly!

  • No. This is of the Eastern Orthodox Right.

  • why are they walking around like that?

  • Walking around the analogion with the Holy Gospel in the priest arms represents their first steps in orthodox christian life together.

  • What is this? Antiochan of Syriac?

Because they are not exactly the same since the first is an EO church and the second a OO church...

    God bless

  • The priests in this video of course, are not shaved and look the way Orthodox priests should look like, and Metropolitan Phillip's latest pictures show a goatee and moustache. Blessed be the memory of His Emminence the late Metropolitan Anthony Bashir, who protected Orthodoxy from Ecumenism, heresy, modernism and innovations. He is in the heart of every true Orthodox Christian.

  • Mabrook!

  • This is actually in what is called an Antiochian Orthodox Church.

  • are they in relationship with the greek orthodox church,?

  • Yes sir, they have inter-communion between them, just as the Russian Orthodox Church and Greek Orthodox Church have inter-communion. The Antiochian Church in America has become self-governing of course, but was once under the Patriach of Antioch and all the East. It was a much different church under the late Metropolitan Anthony Bashir, very Apostolic and conservative. Metropolitan Phillip Saliba decided to make it "modern", meaning the beards got shaved off, and Roman collars were introduced.

  • What are you talking about?!!! Antiochian's in this country are still under the Patriarch of Antioch and we are allowed to wear beards, robes, prayer ropes and priest hats... Bp. Anthony had worn suits and collars and our Bp. Joseph, Bp. Mark and Bp. Basil wear beards, etc. Don't lest you be judged!

  • they are arabs

  • wissh you guys LOVEEEEEE!!!!!

  • great, im from serbia and i will next year married too in serbia:-)

  • all comments below are fully incorrect..i know all these people and its absolutely ridiculous how people really think they know what they're talking about..it actually surprises me .. this is a priest from jerusalem chanting in arabic in an arabic orthodox church in downtown LA anf the isiah dance in NOT russian orthodox...its ORTHODOX!

  • I too know that these are Jerusalem orthodox priest. You are right. One of them Baptized my son.

  • so similar to the greek orthodox festival its unbeleivable!! god bless all orthodox's

  • srbijazasrbe, its the same in every orthodox church :)

  • it is in arabic, its prob somewhere in lebanon, the name of the guy amer sounds muslim too,but yer lebanese orthodox :),yer sounds good :)

  • sounds arabic

  • Which church is this in...I think i've been there before, but I'm not sure.

  • hmmm....somewhere in the LA area, I don't specifically recall. It's on a corner, and has a gated parking lot if that helps. :)

  • This in the Russian Orthodox Church as well. "Isaiah Rejoice" the walk around the table according to Russian orthodox tradition symbolizes the first steps in life as a married couple. This also means that you are taking your first steps together in the "church" as orthodox christians.

  • This looks like an Antiochian Orthodox Church (because of the byzantine/ arabic chanting and the fact that their names are Amer and Tania...) and the Antiochians are in communion with the Russian Orthodox.

  • Thanks :)

  • That is St. Nicholas Cathedral in Downtown LA.

  • that is arabic! :) how nice

  • This is the same in the Serbian Orthodox Church

  • The "dance" around the table is related to the Byzantine "anadeixis"--the display a new emperor, victorious commander, or victorious athlete would recieve in order to be viewed and praised. In the context of the wedding service, it happens after the crowning. The couple is crowned as victorious athletes in the struggle to keep their virginity.

  • These hymns remind us of the Scriptural qualities that ought to be present in marriage. The word martyria, in Greek, means to witness. The newly married couple is called to witness to the coming of the Kingdom of God, which came about through the birth of the Son of God from the Virgin, Mary. The joy that is celebrated through this uniting of man, woman and Christ is to parallel the joy that Isaiah had when he said, "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my whole being shall exult in my God".

  • O Isaiah dance your joy, for the Virgin is with child; and shall bear a Son, Emmanuel both God and man! And Orient is His name, whom magnifying we call the Virgin blessed.

Holy Martyrs, who have fought the good fight and have received your crowns: entreat the Lord that He have mercy on our souls.

Glory to You, O Christ God, the Apostles' boast, and the martyrs' joy, whose preaching was the consubstantial Trinity.

  • Great translation!!!!

  • It's their first dance as a married couple

  • Interesting...I think is the part " Isaia dancing". I don't know the meaning of this "dance"
