@albr00700  Not true anymore. They started using water to tamp and mitigate the effects from the back blast. Just like in explosive breaching shape charges. The new javelin can be fired inside rooms of average size now.

AP rounds are solid heavy metal construction and use kinetic energy to penetrate.. shape charged warheads are called HEAT, high explosive anti tank.. and they use a cone and a shaped charge to form a jet and penetrate armor with heat and kinetic energy.. One uses explosives, one does not. Noob.

@stalkingalizee Im well aware! Anything with a cone and a shaped charge is classified as High Explosive Anti Tank. Armor piercing rounds have no explosives. If youre looking for a general term to classify shape charge warheads as, armor defeating is more appropriate, AP is a specific classification.

@Mattc23q At first the Chobham armor with DU is called Dorchester armor. And your wrong. The better armor has the Leopard2A6 wich has about 2000 RHA turret against HEAT, the M1A2 has only 1600. And the Merkava is much more armored than Leopard2.You can armor a tank so strong you want portable weapons can penetrate them. Merkava the safest tank on earth was several times penetrate with RPG29 750 RHA. Abrams was several times destroyed by RPG7 with the oldest shell PG7 300RHA.show documentary RPG7
