I would like to know if it applies to the clean as well. I do crossfit five days a week. I know that they teach shrugging for cleans. I've only been crossfitting for 7 months, and had no previous olympic lifting experience. However, I know that their techniques are wrong. I was doing a WOD the other day with cleans. It was 5 rounds of 15-12-9-6-3 deadlifts, hang power clean, front squat and push press. Anyway, I was doing Don McCauley's rock and roll method.
I liked it, but was told not to rock, but to use hips and shrug. I love crossfit, but the Olympic lifting part I would like more instruction in. Thanks for the video.
does this also apply to the clean as well? if so, would there be any variances for this drill in terms of the clean that i could add into my training repertoire as well as that of the young athletes i coach?
very cool video. it explained part of the snatch in a unique way that never occured to me.

So basically, the higher the weight, then the more powerful, big and explosive hip drive you need?
