What are the safety standards on rigs in the USA? I've seen a few videos where the derrick isn't wearing a hardhat, and half the times it doesn't look like you guys have to wear FR gear either. Just curious, because drilling in Canada is all about safety

Fractured skull, fractures in my neck and back, broken hand and arm, broken pelvis, 2 broken legs, internal damage, loss of the use of one leg, lost my best mate. Doctor reckons the only reason I survived was because of how fit I was, reckons he never cut through muscle so dense before... So I believe Roughneckin saved my life ?

Most of the people that get hired have to get training for this type of work. Once you have that or if you can find a company that will take you one and train you. All thats left it to submit a resume, and get ready for long days, but really good pay.

we tripped out 13,000ft laying down 4 1\2 inch during hurrcane evac on the hercules 200 in 9 hours..... had to get it done ride out the hurricane... top that boys
that is a good trip time!! We did Sask's deepest hole at L.A.....over 16,000 ft. round trip at 14000 feet ( the last round trip) was 13 hours. It was awesome though......had some slow days of drilling....but when you work......you FUCKING work!!

I am an EE working on old GE rigs here in the UAE especially for NDC, on and offshore.
They are now pumping over 2M barrels per day. They have just purchased, I believe, another 10 to 12 more rigs. Abu Dhabi and the UAE will out of oil in about 25 years. Back in the day when I roughnecked, a 30 foot joint was 40 feet long. a quart of beer was a gallon, and we drilled 40 thousand feet per tour. When the chain broke we twisted the pipe to the proper torque values by using chain tongs, when we broke those we used 64 inch pipe wrenches, when we broke those we used our bare hands..yeah I was a roughneck.

I was the only worm to ever find the actual key to the V-door. Fractured skull, fractures in my neck and back, broken hand and arm, broken pelvis, 2 broken legs, internal damage, loss of the use of one leg, lost my best mate. Doctor reckons the only reason I survived was because of how fit I was, reckons he never cut through muscle so dense before... So I believe Roughneckin saved my life ?

Most of the people that get hired have to get training for this type of work. Once you have that or if you can find a company that will take you one and train you. All thats left it to submit a resume, and get ready for long days, but really good pay.

we tripped out 13,000ft laying down 4 1\2 inch during hurrcane evac on the hercules 200 in 9 hours..... had to get it done ride out the hurricane... top that boys

that is a good trip time!! We did Sask's deepest hole at L.A.....over 16,000 ft. round trip at 14000 feet ( the last round trip) was 13 hours. It was awesome though......had some slow days of drilling....but when you work......you FUCKING work!!

I know this is an old post but it is a good one.
I am an EE working on old GE rigs here in the UAE especially for NDC, on and offshore.
They are now pumping over 2M barrels per day. They have just purchased, I believe, another 10 to 12 more rigs. Abu Dhabi and the UAE will out of oil in about 25 years. I really don't care, it will not be in my life time. They will be herding camels and goats on Sheik Zayed Road in Dubai again, LOL. Good Luck to them and Ramadan Kareem!!! :)

26000 feet in 10 hours changing out BHA is not fast that is only 2600 feet a hour. thats what my rig does on a bad day. kick it up to 3400 feet a hour then come talk

Back in the day when I roughnecked, a 30 foot joint was 40 feet long. a quart of beer was a gallon, and we drilled 40 thousand feet per tour. When the chain broke we twisted the pipe to the proper torque values by using chain tongs, when we broke those we used 64 inch pipe wrenches, when we broke those we used our bare hands..yeah I was a roughneck.

@mas13quela I have the distinction of being the biggest focking ginsel in the oilfield from 1981-1983(Land rig title). I obtained the offshore title from 1990-1992. I was the only worm to ever find the actual key to the V-door. I was the only worm to put on a lifebelt and actually tag bottom, and I was the only worm to actually get a reading of the watertable in the crown. Yeah I was a roughneck
