I am in tears right now. I could never tether my dog. Never have never will. That's what fences are for. So they can run and get exercise. When I am not outside, my pets are not outside. If you don't want an animal that sheds don't have them. If you find a stray there are rescues in every state that will take dogs and cats. Go on the internet and contact one. There is no excuse for tethering.
Can I make a suggestion? Its not the chain thats the problem here. Its irresponsible owners. Its not the chains fault just because the dog is hooked to it.
I don't think we should paint with such a broad brush and say that all people who chain their dogs are cruel. It can be done humanely and safely. In fact in some cases chaining can be safer and more logical than not chaining.
Very true, my dog is chained while we are not out with him, and he runs with us every morning, gets a walk every afternoon, is fed every day and always has fresh water. We took him to the vet for his check up and the vet said he was one of the healthiest and happiest dogs she had met.
my aunt chains her dog outside. He is 8 years old and never been in the house just on the chain in the same spot its so bad that his spot is 6inchs deep into the ground i feel bad for him
not just dogs but almost every animal is abused in this world but why ? why so much hatred in this world ? nobody understands their pain ....and nobody will do anything this is the world we are living in..
Dogs are mans best friend! If a person does not take care of their animals why should we expect them to be productive members of society. To love an animal and feel love from them is a euphoric experience. Thank you for sharing these photos and making the issue of animal care real for so many. To see these images really makes a person think.
In addition to walks my malinois is allowed to get extra activity each day on a trolley system that allows for 1500 sq feet of play space. If done correctiy this is a safe and humane way to give your pet the extra activity she needs to stay active and healthy. Dogs are pack animals and need contact with other dogs as well as their owners. My pet is allowed inside at night but keeping a pet locked up inside the home day after day while the owner is away is also a form of pet abuse.
Where as that might work for your dog, it doesn't work for all dogs. I do not believe keeping a pet inside during the day is wrong. There are too many cruel heartless idiots in the world that will randomly hurt a dog that is outside like that.
This video was not directed at people like you.. so no need to get defensive. It was aimed at the people who get a dog, chain it and pretty much forget about it. If you read the poem accompanying the video you would have gotten that
If it depends on me the abusers should be chained in exactly the same way. Once a couple of days someone throws some food at them but nó doctor visit if they are sick. I bet animalabuse will end radically if people get the same treatment back and it will save the taxpayers money for jail and all kind of nonsense therapies when they are sentenced.
i would never ever abuse my 3 dogs. if they're ugly, i still won't abuse them. well, i won't abuse any dog of the world if i get those kinds. i'm not 27!!!!!!
It should be illegal in America to chain dogs up 24/7/365. Period. If there are dogs living in the White House, and the Queen of England has 10 Corgis running around the palace, then there is no excuse for dogs in America not being allowed to live indoors. Laws have to be changed county by county. Plz help a chained dog if you see one - if they are starving, call the police. Report animal cruelty. Be a voice for them.
Well with crating you're only supposed to do it for no more than 4 hours, people don't always abide by that of course.
My question is this. If someone took you out in your yard and chained you to the ground and you had to rely on them for food, water, shelter, entertainment, protection from those without morals as well as wildlife such as fire ants, poisonous snakes, and so on. How long do you think you'd last?
More than one person said that a chained dog cannot protect a house. How is that? Seriously, I don't understand. If a dog is not on a short leash, how can it not give good protection? Maybe those people are just trying to hide the fact that they hate anyone who chains a dog. Yeah, that is just what the world needs. More people who wear a badge of honor to justify their hatred towards anyone who is different.
The dog can only protect as far as the chain goes. That isn't good protection. I don't see how that isn't obvious. Most people don't put their valuables out on the lawn where the dog can protect them. Most people don't have the dog on a chain long enough to actually get in the house where the criminal would be.
I don't hide the fact I don't like dogs being chained out 24/7, but I don't "hate" the people who do it, I think the vast majority are just ignorant.
Good point, but dogs bark. Usually at things that shouldn't be near the house. Wouldn't the owner know there's an intruder outside if he/she hears the dog barking? Wouldn't there be enough time to call the police, turn on the house alarm, and/or grab a weapon? I'm not letting any motherfucker break into my house before I get a chance to defend my property and my dog. So you don't like dogs being chained out 24/7. Neither do I, but why do you assume that applies to every single chained dog?
Umm what if the owner isn't home? How do you defend the house then? My dogs can defend my house and all it's contents. If I am home, I don't have to worry about reaching for a weapon, my dogs scare them off just by the deepness of their bark (from inside the house).
At least we can find a little common ground. Protection is a big part of why I got giant dogs. Trust me I understand where your coming from. I just know that a dog can't really protect your house from the outside.
I see you only replied to 2 of my 3 comments. What's the matter? Have nothing to say? You had no problem giving all of them a thumbs down (as with all other comments you didn't like, so fucking predictable). Does getting yourself involved in other peoples' lives a little tiring? Don't worry, you can do it! Satan--I mean--God is on your side! Seriously, though, I refuse to believe that you think that the vast majority who chain dogs are just ignorant. You just don't like anyone who chains a dog.
First off, G-d is dead. You can refuse to believe whatever you want. I have the intellectual capacity to separate a person from their actions. I can still accept a person and not like the behaviors they do. Yes, I do think that people who chain out dogs are just ignorant. I think most of them don't really know how it affects the dog. I think that when people actually research and find out about it, many people bring the dogs in the house or find an inside home for them.
I'm an Atheist, you dumbshit. I was making a fucking joke. If you look at my profile, you'll see Christianity under my interests and hobbies section. That's only because I been reading the Holy Bible lately (there are so many goddamn metaphors and analogies). I'm not looking to become a Christian. What's wrong with it, anyway? Not every Christian is a moron who doesn't believe in science and thinks that God is some invisible old guy watching boys masturbate in the bathroom.
Despite your hostility, I was quite able to recognize your joke "Satan--I mean--God" and in fact was making one in reply. I'm surprised you got so wound up about it. I'm agnostic. I don't care if G-d is alive or dead. I don't care if there is a Satan or not. Makes no difference to me either way.
Hostility? We're just talking. I'm not feeling angry at all. Is it because of the swearing? That's how I normally talk, and I type the way I talk. I definitely keep my mouth shut when I'm in public. There's no way you were making a joke. There weren't any layers. Then again, humor only works 50% of the time on the internet. But if you're agnostic, and basically don't give a shit, why do type "G-d"?
Saying you don't believe in God is one thing, saying God is dead is another. It shows that you are exactly what I thought you were: just another bitch who wears a badge of honor to justify her hatred towards anyone who's different. You can keep saying that you only judge a person's behavior. That's not a problem. Maybe it will magically come true.
Can't you debate God on a YouTube site that is ABOUT religion? This is supposed to be a comment section on the cruelty of chaining up dogs 24/7/365. Please stay on topic.
No one is really debating religion. I'm just wondering why an agnostic would type "G-d" and say bigoted shit like "G-d is dead." I should have never made that stupid joke... Was all that talk about God bothering you? Does the mere mention of God make you want to kill something? If yes, then too bad. People should be allowed to talk about whatever they want, whenever and wherever they want. Anyone who disagrees with that can eat shit and live for all I care.
Unless you're a moron who thinks anyone who chains a dog is ignorant or bad. It doesn't matter to you if the dog is happy or not, as long as it's being kept inside the house, its owner is a good person... What's with these assholes making these stupid assumptions? "your dog is happy for the 15 minutes you spend with her". What, not ONE person who chains a dog spends quality time with it? Maybe on Fantasy Island.
Everything in this video is true, but it's not completely accurate. It's one-sided. It shows that all chained dogs are living shitty lives. The fact is: it's not "all," it's "some." There are people who spend quality time with their dogs, then chain them outside (meaning - the dogs are happy). Isn't that better than someone who keeps a dog inside the house, but spends almost no time with it? Giving the dog a happy life is what's important.
Animal behaviorists are clear. Dogs are NOT happy outside by themselves.(and quality time is a joke) You can spin it any way you want, but I will trust the people who study animals over your individual observations.
Of course, you should trust their opinions over mine. They're more educated. I'm well aware that my opinion is not as valid as the animal behaviorists' opinions. You must think I'm stupid. You say that not one chained dog is happy; can you elaborate on that? What the fuck did you think I meant when I mentioned quality time? You really don't think anyone takes their dog everywhere with them (all day), goes back home, chains the dog, then goes straight to bed? What about singerprissy's cousin?
Yes I do trust their opinions over other people. They do nothing but study animals, and only have the animals best interests at heart. I never said your stupid. I may not like what you do to your dogs, but I didn't say you are stupid. I think you need to educate yourself on this issue, but I never called you stupid. And really lets be honest, how many people do you really think really interact with the dog? Be honest.
You never said it, but you were thinking it. Otherwise, you never would have bothered mentioning animal behaviorists. And honestly, I don't care how many such people actually interact with their dogs, if only 1 such person does, then that's good enough. He/she could inspire and educate other people who don't spend enough time with their pets.
if some dogs are not kept than what will they do run the roads get run over cause accidents bite kids plus some dog are for hunting so if you believe that dogs should run free than nobody should own one
it all boils down to irresponsible breeding. a dog can be a house dog and let putside SUPERVISED. there is no excuse for chaining and forgettinjg about your dog. One of my dogs grew up on a chain. She is an excellent house dog
So sue me. I have a dog that is chained. Actually, he's not really mine. He was abandoned near my house & I couldn't just let him starve. I have tried to find him a home & nobody wants him. I live on a heavily trafficked road that people speed down. Do I just let him wander, only to get hit by a car? NO-I put him on a chain. Sorry for seeing to his safety! And no, he is NOT coimng in the house! My son is terrified of him & my daughter is allergic. So tell me, what else do I do?
What else do you do? Take it to a shelter. Surrender it to a rescue. You are NOT giving the dog a life, your only giving it an existence, and a crappy one at that. Keeping the dog on a chain for the rest of it's life is NOT helping the dog. It deserves to be with a family. Your son might be scared, but there are lots of good kids who aren't scared of dogs.
You don't seem to understand that NOBODY will take this dog! The shelters/rescues are FULL. The pound is overcrowded.I put an ad in the paper & still NO ONE even came to LOOK at him. If it would make YOU happy, I will let him run free & get hit by a car. Or maybe you can fence in my yard. We can't afford to do so. At least he gets fed & watered every day & is safe. And if that idea doesn't appeal to you, COME GET HIM YOURSELF! Be happy he is safe or STFU & don't involve yourself in what I do.
You put it on the net. Too late to say don't involve yourself. Shelters have waiting lists. I'm sure you can get him on it. And NO I can't take your dog, the rescue I'm with is full.
Just mind your own business from now on. I will do what I have to do. I don't have time for BS. You don't know me or my situation, so you need to stop judging everyone. It's not yours or anyone else's place to judge ANYBODY!
I'm not judging you, I'm judging your behavior.(There is a difference, but I don't think you can understand that.) It isn't my place to judge anyone? So if I see someone abusing a child, I should just take your words to heart and say "not my place to judge" and walk away? If you really don't have time for BS, why keep replying?
YOU do have the right to judge PERIOD. My behaviour is justified. There is no abuse, child or otherwise.
AND I keep replying to tell you to STFU but you aren't taking the hint. Do I need to spell it out for you? LEAVE ME ALONE & FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO ANNOY!
I Chain my dog, nothing wrong with it. A few years back a lady in my neighborhood stole my dog because of it. I just got another dog. I don't think its right for people to think that chaining a dog is wrong. I give my dog lots of attention. I live in the country, where theres wild animals. I need a dog to protect me. I don't have a fence because its not allowed in my neighborhood. I love my dog, and you have no idea how much your video hurt my feelings, and I do think tying dog is ''proper''.
The video hurt your feelings? You need a dog to protect you from the wild animals? How can a dog protect you when it is chained in one place? Your poor chained dog cannot even protect himself or herself from people who might torment, poison, harm or steal it. How do you expect your dog to fend off attacks from wild animals while the dog in constrained by a chain around it's neck? No, singerprissy, this video could not have hurt your feelings. You do not have any feelings!!!
I don't have feelings? What am I supposed to do? Answer me that! My neighborhood won't allow a fence! I should give away my dog (whom I love so much). Obviously you have no intelligence to show compromise in this situation. The wild animals in my area are not particularly dangerous (Skunks, snakes, and deer). I don't want to risk getting bit by a snake or stabbed by a deer. What kind of dog you think I have? A pug? You are very ignorant, and lack intelligence.
I don't care what kind of dog you have, it deserves better than being chained. I have mastiffs. You know the giant drooly dogs. I always keep them inside. They can't protect my son and I if they are tied up outside. They can only protect me if they are in the house with me. I live in the country too. Just because people have chained dogs, doesn't make it right. Please take some time to educate yourself about this issues. Watch the video a few more times. Educate yourself.
Not every chained dog is in a living hell! This video is not an accurate portrayal of chained dogs. Dogs are abused inside too! People lock them up in closets all day with no food or water. Who are you to say its not right. My dog is not living like the dogs in the video. Your dogs may have to be in your house to protect you but my dog has to be outside. I'm not trying to change your opinion so don't try to change mine. I'm not beneath you because I do things differently.
Yes, the video is accurate. You may not want to admit it, but it is accurate. Just because dogs are abused inside, doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean it is the most common thing. Your dog does NOT have to be outside to protect you. I may think your position is ignorant, but I never said your beneath me. I am not that kind of person. I may not like your choices, but I don't think I'm better or worse than anyone else. We are all human, we are all equal. I think you should educate ur self.
The video is not completely accurate. You may not want to admit it, but it isn't entirely accurate. Those dogs in the video are living crappy lives, unlike my dog. She's happy. Really. She does need to be outside to keep would-be intruders away from my house. Animals can smell her, so they don't go near the house. People see the dog there and they won't go near either because they're afraid she might attack (she will if anyone gets too close). That's pretty good protection, don't you think?
The video is completely accurate. Sure your dog is happy for the 15 minutes you spend with her, but not all day long. No she doesn't need to be outside. Animals will smell her urine even if she is inside. People see the dog and know it is tied and know it can't actually defend your house. No I don't think a tied dog is good protection at all. My dogs are good protection, yours is not. Take some time to read and see what animal behaviorists say about dogs that are chained out. Educate yourself.
I chain my boxer outside. I spend a lot more than 15 minutes of my time with him. I take him with me to work almost everyday. Before we go, we walk for one hour. In the weekend, we go to the lake. I lie on the ground while he bites the water whenever he thinks he sees a fish in it. I pretty much spend all day with my dog. He's quite happy; he has never been inside my house. He has no problem protecting it 'cause he's not on a short leash (that's the only way a dog can't protect). Am I ignorant?
Also, "Just because dogs are abused inside, doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean it is the most common thing."--What the hell are you talking about? I wasn't implying that it's okay or common. I was just saying that dogs can be abused no matter where they're being kept. I am NOT okay with dogs or any other animal (including humans) being abused. Do you assume that anyone who chains a dog is bad? Is that why you said that? I hope not, 'cause that's fucking pathetic.
I think that anyone who chains a dog out 24/7 is ignorant. Some are bad, some are just in need of education about what being tied out does to dogs. It is sad that you have to resort to swearing to try to make your points.
Ok, so I'm ignorant according to you. I beg to differ, so you would just have to deal with it. Because I don't have much else to say. Why are you calling me out for swearing? Didn't some other user swear at you? You didn't say anything to him/her. And you think its sad that I had to resort to swearing? Well I think its sad that you keep trying to get the upper hand in this little argument. We're both right. Some chained dogs are living crappy lives, some are living happy lives. It's the truth.
If you want to deny the truth, I'm sorry, but you're ignorant. You would be no different from people who base stereotypes on everyone. Like a white American assuming that every hispanic or latino is an illegal Mexican, or that every black person is a wanna-be gangster. Look, I'm not going to acknowledge your opinion anymore because you're just going to keep repeating yourself, so mind your own business for now on.
The truth is chaining a dog out 24/7 is cruel. You can keep saying it isn't, but your wrong. Your dog isn't happy. I will take the word of Animal Behaviorists that dogs are not ok outside, over you. In this case, I have science on my side, you don't. I will trust the experts not you.
Yes, anyone who chains a dog is pure evil. All Christians are child molesters. If you speak Spanish, you are obviously poor. People who like Airplane! cannot enjoy The Godfather. Only idiots can't afford food. Heavy metal fans are going to Hell. If you're a virgin, you must be a nerd. If you're a nerd, you must be a virgin. Gay people don't believe in God. Any black person who can afford to live in a house is a drug dealer blah blah blah...
I will NEVER forget my dogs. When I go on vacation the only thing I can think about is my dogs, when I go to camp the only thing I can think about is my dogs.
I said they go for a run AT LEAST once a week. Often its more like 4 times a week, and during the winter it is almost every day(except for longer runs in the 50+ mile range. We give them a few days off before we run again).
I know my dogs, and I know what they like to do. Watch my video of them and you can see how happy they are.
I chain my dogs. they are perfectly happy, they love people(especiall kids), they are well socialized, they have fresh water every day, they have well insulated houses, they are fed at least once a day, and they go for runs at least once a week, plus I give them 1 on 1 runs occasionally. I have 18 sled dogs, aged between 11 and almost 1 year(She turns one tomorrow actually). Chaining is okay under the right circumstances. Yay for us dog mushers!
Even indoor dogs need daily exercise. Once a week is not enough. How would you feel confined to such a small radius only being able to leave it once a week, maybe twice? Try thinking of it from the dogs perspective instead of your own.
i have been readin som coms and u guys r over reactin. changin your dog is fine. you guys just over react to much. my pittbull stays on a chain and he isnt abused. if u take care of your dog (as stated by some above) then wats the problem? sure its bad if u abuse the dog; but dis.. dis is just stupid. lets go worry bout the things that r realli abusive.
Still, theres nothing wrong with chaining your dog if you take care of it. You guys just don't understand. Chaning your dog is fine. Dogs on chains are fine. >.>
I personally don't understand why you guys don't think its ok to leave your dog on a chain IF you do take care of your dog. Feed the dog, play with it a few times a day. But if you don't feed your dog on leave it on a chain then thats not okay, but theres nothing wrong with chaining your dog and taking care of them. My dog used to aways be on a chain.. she was fine, nothing was wrong with her.
Its never ok 2 chain ur dog. No matter how much attention u give while u feed it, they still arent around people anough 2 b well socilized, learn proper training & manners. I saw a picture 1ce with a chained dog sitting in a yard & a cat sittin on the fence around it. The cat said, "All I can say it that Im sure glad that Im NOT MAN'S BEST FRIEND"! If ur going to get a dog 2 chain it in ur yard, dont get a dog AT ALL! Ur NOT doing it any favors! They r DOGS..NOT.. lawn ornaments!!
It is NOT OK to chain a dog for any reason. PERIOD. There are plenty of alternatives and if havng too many dogs to house properly is the problem, don't have so many dogs.
The amount of dogs has nothing to do with it. APBT are Aminal aggressive, thats fact and they need to be securely confined. A PROPER chain set is the best way to confine them. Kennels are fine but some dogs do NOT do well in a kennel, and APBT are notorious escape artists. A dog on a 10' chain has more then double the room as a 10'x10' kennel. The means of confinement is not important as long as the dogs are all properly cared for.
I'm going to respond to this one... APBT's if properly socialized aren't necessarily animal aggressive. I have two that sleep in my bed with me every night. I work at a shelter and i see what people consider "proper" chaining all the time. Dogs that animal control pick up running at large with logging chains attached to the collar. They thought that the chains would confine their dogs. .
Each of my dogs is given much attention when I feed them twice a day (and plenty of other times) plus they get excercise from runing on the sled (which they love) AND I have a fence around the dog yard so everyday I let one of the non-agressive dog run around and play with the other dogs. (They run around for about 30 minutes and then sleep for the rest of the day. They all have toys and all but two naturally shy ones are outgoing and loving.
Please don't get me wrong. I love animals and I am active in fighting for their rights however I beleive (with good reason) that cahining your dog is ok IF they are given enough excercise and attention. Having your dog on a chain is a good way to keep him controlled and unhurt. I have sled dogs and the only way to keep them from hurting eachother (some are aggressive) and from runing off and getting hurst by wild animals is to have each of them on a chain.
Great video! Although the words of the song are right, that techno beat is pretty annoying. Still, thanks for working so hard to educate those who want to have a dog, but don't put any effort into taking care of them.
The chain is NOT the issue. Majority of the dogs in the video are in that condition because of neglect NOT the chain. A dog on a 10' chain has twice the space as a dog in a 10'x10' kennel. A PROPER chain space gives the dog more room and exercise.
Right! its the OWNERS that are the problem, not the cain. A properly cared for dog is fine on a chain. A dog that is not on a chain yet has a irresponsible owner will suffer jsut as much as if it was on a chain.
so ya people would rather have pit bulls walking around?? there would be more attacks there are certain dogs that cant just be walking around the street or yard..
A really good video, straight to the point and absolutely heartbreaking. I'm sure the majority of the public aren't even aware this goes on and need to be informed and/or educated. This video should be made widely available as should any video or publicity which focuses on the plight of animals suffering all over the world. This barbaric treatment could be easily rectified by unchaining these dogs. Let's not walk by and do nothing. Report an owner if you think a dog is suffering.
It's very, very sad to see this and know that this kind of inhumane actions exist and even go unpunished. Maybe the masters of these poor animals should be left outside with a chain around their necks with nothing to eat or drink for days on end. It's sad that alot of these people go unpunished!!All these animals want is for someone to love them. They are always willing to give us love unconditionally....
Our pit bull was a chained up dog before we rescued her. She had a chain deeply imbedded in her neck. It is terrible that most often they are never rescued. They die at the end of the chain...choke to death, die of starvation, get too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter...They die terrible deaths w/suffering and no one hears their cries or even cares enough to help them. If you see it report it!
my town ( indianapolis) just passed a law this year to not chain a dog between 10 (?) and 6 a.m. Not sure if its for humane reasons or so people don't have to hear the neighbors dog bark, that the owner seems to sleep through lol

Dog which is "crated": 4 to 6 square feet
Dog which is kenneled in the average 6x12 foot kennel: 72 square feet
Dog which is tethered on a 15 foot tether: 700+ square feet
Dog which is tethered on a 20 foot tether: 1256 square feet
Which do you think a dog would consider "cruel"?
gamedog2009 3 years ago
Your figures are completely off. Get your facts straight and I hope you are not advocating chaining or tethering.

FallingandRunning 1 year ago
More than one person said that a chained dog cannot protect a house. How is that? Seriously, I don't understand. If a dog is not on a short leash, how can it not give good protection? Maybe those people are just trying to hide the fact that they hate anyone who chains a dog. Yeah, that is just what the world needs. More people who wear a badge of honor to justify their hatred towards anyone who is different.
lykathea87 3 years ago
The dog can only protect as far as the chain goes. That isn't good protection. I don't see how that isn't obvious. Most people don't put their valuables out on the lawn where the dog can protect them. Most people don't have the dog on a chain long enough to actually get in the house where the criminal would be.
I don't hide the fact I don't like dogs being chained out 24/7, but I don't "hate" the people who do it, I think the vast majority are just ignorant.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Good point, but dogs bark. Usually at things that shouldn't be near the house. Wouldn't the owner know there's an intruder outside if he/she hears the dog barking? Wouldn't there be enough time to call the police, turn on the house alarm, and/or grab a weapon? I'm not letting any motherfucker break into my house before I get a chance to defend my property and my dog. So you don't like dogs being chained out 24/7. Neither do I, but why do you assume that applies to every single chained dog?
lykathea87 3 years ago
Umm what if the owner isn't home? How do you defend the house then? My dogs can defend my house and all it's contents. If I am home, I don't have to worry about reaching for a weapon, my dogs scare them off just by the deepness of their bark (from inside the house).
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Hmmm... Hey, you're right! I can't believe I didn't think of that... I guess we're both right on this.
lykathea87 3 years ago
At least we can find a little common ground. Protection is a big part of why I got giant dogs. Trust me I understand where your coming from. I just know that a dog can't really protect your house from the outside.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
I see you only replied to 2 of my 3 comments. What's the matter? Have nothing to say? You had no problem giving all of them a thumbs down (as with all other comments you didn't like, so fucking predictable). Does getting yourself involved in other peoples' lives a little tiring? Don't worry, you can do it! Satan--I mean--God is on your side! Seriously, though, I refuse to believe that you think that the vast majority who chain dogs are just ignorant. You just don't like anyone who chains a dog.
lykathea87 3 years ago
First off, G-d is dead. You can refuse to believe whatever you want. I have the intellectual capacity to separate a person from their actions. I can still accept a person and not like the behaviors they do. Yes, I do think that people who chain out dogs are just ignorant. I think most of them don't really know how it affects the dog. I think that when people actually research and find out about it, many people bring the dogs in the house or find an inside home for them.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
I'm an Atheist, you dumbshit. I was making a fucking joke. If you look at my profile, you'll see Christianity under my interests and hobbies section. That's only because I been reading the Holy Bible lately (there are so many goddamn metaphors and analogies). I'm not looking to become a Christian. What's wrong with it, anyway? Not every Christian is a moron who doesn't believe in science and thinks that God is some invisible old guy watching boys masturbate in the bathroom.
lykathea87 3 years ago
Despite your hostility, I was quite able to recognize your joke "Satan--I mean--God" and in fact was making one in reply. I'm surprised you got so wound up about it. I'm agnostic. I don't care if G-d is alive or dead. I don't care if there is a Satan or not. Makes no difference to me either way.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
But if you're agnostic, and basically don't give a shit, why do type "G-d"?
lykathea87 3 years ago
Saying you don't believe in God is one thing, saying God is dead is another. It shows that you are exactly what I thought you were: just another bitch who wears a badge of honor to justify her hatred towards anyone who's different. You can keep saying that you only judge a person's behavior. That's not a problem. Maybe it will magically come true.
lykathea87 3 years ago
Can't you debate God on a YouTube site that is ABOUT religion? This is supposed to be a comment section on the cruelty of chaining up dogs 24/7/365. Please stay on topic.
GaDove 3 years ago
No one is really debating religion. I'm just wondering why an agnostic would type "G-d" and say bigoted shit like "G-d is dead." I should have never made that stupid joke... Was all that talk about God bothering you? Does the mere mention of God make you want to kill something? If yes, then too bad. People should be allowed to talk about whatever they want, whenever and wherever they want. Anyone who disagrees with that can eat shit and live for all I care.
lykathea87 3 years ago
Besides, we stopped "debating God" 4 months ago. You must be going senile or something. :/
lykathea87 3 years ago
Unless you're a moron who thinks anyone who chains a dog is ignorant or bad. It doesn't matter to you if the dog is happy or not, as long as it's being kept inside the house, its owner is a good person... What's with these assholes making these stupid assumptions? "your dog is happy for the 15 minutes you spend with her". What, not ONE person who chains a dog spends quality time with it? Maybe on Fantasy Island.
lykathea87 3 years ago
Everything in this video is true, but it's not completely accurate. It's one-sided. It shows that all chained dogs are living shitty lives. The fact is: it's not "all," it's "some." There are people who spend quality time with their dogs, then chain them outside (meaning - the dogs are happy). Isn't that better than someone who keeps a dog inside the house, but spends almost no time with it? Giving the dog a happy life is what's important.
lykathea87 3 years ago
Animal behaviorists are clear. Dogs are NOT happy outside by themselves.(and quality time is a joke) You can spin it any way you want, but I will trust the people who study animals over your individual observations.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Of course, you should trust their opinions over mine. They're more educated. I'm well aware that my opinion is not as valid as the animal behaviorists' opinions. You must think I'm stupid. You say that not one chained dog is happy; can you elaborate on that? What the fuck did you think I meant when I mentioned quality time? You really don't think anyone takes their dog everywhere with them (all day), goes back home, chains the dog, then goes straight to bed? What about singerprissy's cousin?
lykathea87 3 years ago
Yes I do trust their opinions over other people. They do nothing but study animals, and only have the animals best interests at heart. I never said your stupid. I may not like what you do to your dogs, but I didn't say you are stupid. I think you need to educate yourself on this issue, but I never called you stupid. And really lets be honest, how many people do you really think really interact with the dog? Be honest.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
You never said it, but you were thinking it. Otherwise, you never would have bothered mentioning animal behaviorists. And honestly, I don't care how many such people actually interact with their dogs, if only 1 such person does, then that's good enough. He/she could inspire and educate other people who don't spend enough time with their pets.
lykathea87 3 years ago
You have no idea what I'm thinking so please don't bother guessing. Your wrong.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Duh, but you sure as hell were implying that I'm stupid. Perhaps it was all in my mind.

if some dogs are not kept than what will they do run the roads get run over cause accidents bite kids plus some dog are for hunting so if you believe that dogs should run free than nobody should own one
fordgt550 3 years ago
it all boils down to irresponsible breeding. a dog can be a house dog and let putside SUPERVISED. there is no excuse for chaining and forgettinjg about your dog. One of my dogs grew up on a chain. She is an excellent house dog

omg that makes me so sad carry on doing things ilke this its tuching x
hunnydeth16 3 years ago
So tell me, what else do I do?
paganistik 3 years ago 3
What else do you do? Take it to a shelter. Surrender it to a rescue. You are NOT giving the dog a life, your only giving it an existence, and a crappy one at that. Keeping the dog on a chain for the rest of it's life is NOT helping the dog. It deserves to be with a family. Your son might be scared, but there are lots of good kids who aren't scared of dogs.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
You don't seem to understand that NOBODY will take this dog! The shelters/rescues are FULL. The pound is overcrowded.I put an ad in the paper & still NO ONE even came to LOOK at him. If it would make YOU happy, I will let him run free & get hit by a car. Or maybe you can fence in my yard. We can't afford to do so. At least he gets fed & watered every day & is safe. And if that idea doesn't appeal to you, COME GET HIM YOURSELF! Be happy he is safe or STFU & don't involve yourself in what I do.
paganistik 3 years ago
You put it on the net. Too late to say don't involve yourself. Shelters have waiting lists. I'm sure you can get him on it. And NO I can't take your dog, the rescue I'm with is full.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Just mind your own business from now on. I will do what I have to do. I don't have time for BS. You don't know me or my situation, so you need to stop judging everyone. It's not yours or anyone else's place to judge ANYBODY!
paganistik 3 years ago
I'm not judging you, I'm judging your behavior.(There is a difference, but I don't think you can understand that.) It isn't my place to judge anyone? So if I see someone abusing a child, I should just take your words to heart and say "not my place to judge" and walk away? If you really don't have time for BS, why keep replying?
Alexis0763 3 years ago
YOU do have the right to judge PERIOD. My behaviour is justified. There is no abuse, child or otherwise.
AND I keep replying to tell you to STFU but you aren't taking the hint. Do I need to spell it out for you? LEAVE ME ALONE & FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO ANNOY!

BTW I was wrong-looks like you're pestering the shit out of other people on here, too. Get a life!

I love my dog, and you have no idea how much your video hurt my feelings, and I do think tying dog is ''proper''.
singerprissy 3 years ago 2
The video hurt your feelings? You need a dog to protect you from the wild animals? How can a dog protect you when it is chained in one place? Your poor chained dog cannot even protect himself or herself from people who might torment, poison, harm or steal it. How do you expect your dog to fend off attacks from wild animals while the dog in constrained by a chain around it's neck? No, singerprissy, this video could not have hurt your feelings. You do not have any feelings!!!
femone 3 years ago
I don't have feelings? What am I supposed to do? Answer me that! My neighborhood won't allow a fence! I should give away my dog (whom I love so much). Obviously you have no intelligence to show compromise in this situation. The wild animals in my area are not particularly dangerous (Skunks, snakes, and deer). I don't want to risk getting bit by a snake or stabbed by a deer. What kind of dog you think I have? A pug? You are very ignorant, and lack intelligence.
singerprissy 3 years ago
I don't care what kind of dog you have, it deserves better than being chained. I have mastiffs. You know the giant drooly dogs. I always keep them inside. They can't protect my son and I if they are tied up outside. They can only protect me if they are in the house with me. I live in the country too. Just because people have chained dogs, doesn't make it right. Please take some time to educate yourself about this issues. Watch the video a few more times. Educate yourself.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Not every chained dog is in a living hell! This video is not an accurate portrayal of chained dogs. Dogs are abused inside too! People lock them up in closets all day with no food or water. Who are you to say its not right. My dog is not living like the dogs in the video. Your dogs may have to be in your house to protect you but my dog has to be outside. I'm not trying to change your opinion so don't try to change mine. I'm not beneath you because I do things differently.
singerprissy 3 years ago
Yes, the video is accurate. You may not want to admit it, but it is accurate. Just because dogs are abused inside, doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean it is the most common thing. Your dog does NOT have to be outside to protect you. I may think your position is ignorant, but I never said your beneath me. I am not that kind of person. I may not like your choices, but I don't think I'm better or worse than anyone else. We are all human, we are all equal. I think you should educate ur self.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
The video is not completely accurate. You may not want to admit it, but it isn't entirely accurate. Those dogs in the video are living crappy lives, unlike my dog. She's happy. Really. She does need to be outside to keep would-be intruders away from my house. Animals can smell her, so they don't go near the house. People see the dog there and they won't go near either because they're afraid she might attack (she will if anyone gets too close). That's pretty good protection, don't you think?
singerprissy 3 years ago
The video is completely accurate. Sure your dog is happy for the 15 minutes you spend with her, but not all day long. No she doesn't need to be outside. Animals will smell her urine even if she is inside. People see the dog and know it is tied and know it can't actually defend your house. No I don't think a tied dog is good protection at all. My dogs are good protection, yours is not. Take some time to read and see what animal behaviorists say about dogs that are chained out. Educate yourself.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
I chain my boxer outside. I spend a lot more than 15 minutes of my time with him. I take him with me to work almost everyday. Before we go, we walk for one hour. In the weekend, we go to the lake. I lie on the ground while he bites the water whenever he thinks he sees a fish in it. I pretty much spend all day with my dog. He's quite happy; he has never been inside my house. He has no problem protecting it 'cause he's not on a short leash (that's the only way a dog can't protect). Am I ignorant?
singerprissy 3 years ago
Sorry, my last comment was made by my cousin. He doesn't have a YouTube account. He's the one with the boxer, I have a border collie/lab mix.
singerprissy 3 years ago
Also, "Just because dogs are abused inside, doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean it is the most common thing."--What the hell are you talking about? I wasn't implying that it's okay or common. I was just saying that dogs can be abused no matter where they're being kept. I am NOT okay with dogs or any other animal (including humans) being abused. Do you assume that anyone who chains a dog is bad? Is that why you said that? I hope not, 'cause that's fucking pathetic.
singerprissy 3 years ago
I think that anyone who chains a dog out 24/7 is ignorant. Some are bad, some are just in need of education about what being tied out does to dogs. It is sad that you have to resort to swearing to try to make your points.
Alexis0763 3 years ago
Ok, so I'm ignorant according to you. I beg to differ, so you would just have to deal with it. Because I don't have much else to say. Why are you calling me out for swearing? Didn't some other user swear at you? You didn't say anything to him/her. And you think its sad that I had to resort to swearing? Well I think its sad that you keep trying to get the upper hand in this little argument. We're both right. Some chained dogs are living crappy lives, some are living happy lives. It's the truth.
singerprissy 3 years ago
If you want to deny the truth, I'm sorry, but you're ignorant. You would be no different from people who base stereotypes on everyone. Like a white American assuming that every hispanic or latino is an illegal Mexican, or that every black person is a wanna-be gangster. Look, I'm not going to acknowledge your opinion anymore because you're just going to keep repeating yourself, so mind your own business for now on.
singerprissy 3 years ago
The truth is chaining a dog out 24/7 is cruel. You can keep saying it isn't, but your wrong. Your dog isn't happy. I will take the word of Animal Behaviorists that dogs are not ok outside, over you. In this case, I have science on my side, you don't. I will trust the experts not you.
Alexis0763 3 years ago

DragonSlayersGod 3 years ago
I chain my dogs. they are perfectly happy, they love people(especiall kids), they are well socialized, they have fresh water every day, they have well insulated houses, they are fed at least once a day, and they go for runs at least once a week, plus I give them 1 on 1 runs occasionally. I have 18 sled dogs, aged between 11 and almost 1 year(She turns one tomorrow actually). Chaining is okay under the right circumstances. Yay for us dog mushers!
alaskansnowangel 3 years ago
Even indoor dogs need daily exercise. Once a week is not enough. How would you feel confined to such a small radius only being able to leave it once a week, maybe twice? Try thinking of it from the dogs perspective instead of your own.

i have been readin som coms and u guys r over reactin. changin your dog is fine. you guys just over react to much. my pittbull stays on a chain and he isnt abused. if u take care of your dog (as stated by some above) then wats the problem? sure its bad if u abuse the dog; but dis.. dis is just stupid. lets go worry bout the things that r realli abusive.
hottrapper4me 3 years ago
Still, theres nothing wrong with chaining your dog if you take care of it. You guys just don't understand. Chaning your dog is fine. Dogs on chains are fine. >.>
GreySkies94 3 years ago
I personally don't understand why you guys don't think its ok to leave your dog on a chain IF you do take care of your dog. Feed the dog, play with it a few times a day. But if you don't feed your dog on leave it on a chain then thats not okay, but theres nothing wrong with chaining your dog and taking care of them. My dog used to aways be on a chain.. she was fine, nothing was wrong with her.
GreySkies94 3 years ago
Its never ok 2 chain ur dog. No matter how much attention u give while u feed it, they still arent around people anough 2 b well socilized, learn proper training & manners. I saw a picture 1ce with a chained dog sitting in a yard & a cat sittin on the fence around it. The cat said, "All I can say it that Im sure glad that Im NOT MAN'S BEST FRIEND"! If ur going to get a dog 2 chain it in ur yard, dont get a dog AT ALL! Ur NOT doing it any favors! They r DOGS..NOT.. lawn ornaments!!
Audibarrelracing 4 years ago
It is NOT OK to chain a dog for any reason. PERIOD. There are plenty of alternatives and if havng too many dogs to house properly is the problem, don't have so many dogs.
rippersnapper1 4 years ago
The amount of dogs has nothing to do with it. APBT are Aminal aggressive, thats fact and they need to be securely confined. A PROPER chain set is the best way to confine them. Kennels are fine but some dogs do NOT do well in a kennel, and APBT are notorious escape artists. A dog on a 10' chain has more then double the room as a 10'x10' kennel. The means of confinement is not important as long as the dogs are all properly cared for.
DoggerInc 4 years ago
I'm going to respond to this one... APBT's if properly socialized aren't necessarily animal aggressive. I have two that sleep in my bed with me every night. I work at a shelter and i see what people consider "proper" chaining all the time. Dogs that animal control pick up running at large with logging chains attached to the collar. They thought that the chains would confine their dogs. .
iheartchocobos7 4 years ago
Each of my dogs is given much attention when I feed them twice a day (and plenty of other times) plus they get excercise from runing on the sled (which they love) AND I have a fence around the dog yard so everyday I let one of the non-agressive dog run around and play with the other dogs. (They run around for about 30 minutes and then sleep for the rest of the day. They all have toys and all but two naturally shy ones are outgoing and loving.
mushergal 4 years ago
Please don't get me wrong. I love animals and I am active in fighting for their rights however I beleive (with good reason) that cahining your dog is ok IF they are given enough excercise and attention. Having your dog on a chain is a good way to keep him controlled and unhurt. I have sled dogs and the only way to keep them from hurting eachother (some are aggressive) and from runing off and getting hurst by wild animals is to have each of them on a chain.
mushergal 4 years ago
Great video! Although the words of the song are right, that techno beat is pretty annoying. Still, thanks for working so hard to educate those who want to have a dog, but don't put any effort into taking care of them.

naturalproperty 4 years ago
The chain is NOT the issue. Majority of the dogs in the video are in that condition because of neglect NOT the chain. A dog on a 10' chain has twice the space as a dog in a 10'x10' kennel. A PROPER chain space gives the dog more room and exercise.
DoggerInc 4 years ago
Right! its the OWNERS that are the problem, not the cain. A properly cared for dog is fine on a chain. A dog that is not on a chain yet has a irresponsible owner will suffer jsut as much as if it was on a chain.
mushergal 4 years ago
so ya people would rather have pit bulls walking around?? there would be more attacks there are certain dogs that cant just be walking around the street or yard..
MONEYMOTHAFUKA 4 years ago
You ignorant moron, ever heard of a fenced yard? Pit Bulls are not the problem. The problem is stupid owners that treat their dogs like dirt.
Laurello7 4 years ago 4
A fence is NOT going to stop Pit Bulls from fighting. Animal aggression in APBT is genetic NOT environmental.
DoggerInc 4 years ago
To a certain degree. A well socilized APBT is much less likely to attack another animal weather it is on a chain or behind a fence.

They are always willing to give us love unconditionally....
tblinde59 4 years ago 2
Our pit bull was a chained up dog before we rescued her. She had a chain deeply imbedded in her neck. It is terrible that most often they are never rescued. They die at the end of the chain...choke to death, die of starvation, get too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter...They die terrible deaths w/suffering and no one hears their cries or even cares enough to help them. If you see it report it!
