the wife new her husband didn't want a dog. and the dog knows it too. plus he told his wife that there is construction going on why in the world would you bring any animal into a house where there are loud noises every single day??

that's just being retarded! and she is never home!she is the one that wanted the dog in the first place! she needs to step up and take responsibility for her actions!(meaning take the dog to training class/walk it etc) not the husband. it was her decision to get it

not true, I have female basset from great hounting family, she learn how to sit in just one day, she know all the commands, she is socialized, and she really understand some things. I had many dogs and I can say that basset hounds are really special, they know how to "fold" a person. They are calculated dogs, conscious of their looks and cute factor. They are aristocratic dogs. They very aristocratic dogs and they have attitude.

@blues4booze This makes them more inteligent...because stubbornness is not term for folly and dumb. Stubborn people have big character. Basset hounds have huge character. Dumb people will always give you to manipulate with them, and inteligent will be harder to manipulate. Some dogs are just more easy, some are not so easy. I love my basset, bassethound is dog for stronge people with enthusiasm and strong and creative character. My basset obey and she is neighborhood star with only 5 months.

So do not believe to all cliches :) there are diferent people and diferent bassethounds :) and like all dogs - your dog will act like you...it will absorb your energy. I had terriers, boxer...but with basset I really can say that they are most unique and most inteligent (I will not say obedient because it is not by my measure of intelligence) dogs. And they have big heart. Sometimes they act spoiled, but it's in their history - they are little hounting lords.

The dog is already 2.5 years old, maybe he had a bad experience with grown up/older guys (f.a.: A guy(former owner) that has punched the dog), and you should know that bad experience or the problem , before you can solve it...

I really need to see what cesar would do with this kind of situation. We just recently adopted a Formosan, and the only person he feels comfortable with is me. My mom on the other hand, if she walks towards him he'll go in the opposite direction, he gives her low woofs and growls if she talks to him, barks at her when she enters a room, and even bribing him with treats doesnt fase him. Much like Saddie. I wonder since they were both adopted if they had a bad past with people they are reminded of

@pAttiex33 depending on ur dog's metabolism and amount of exercise it's ok. i feed my shiba mozzarella string cheese as a high end treat 1nce in awhile. (mozzarella has the least amount of fat of all the cheeses.)

Ugh, what a bunch of stupid people. You don't bring a dog into the house if you can't be sure it's going to be a safe, stable, quiet environment during the period that the dog is adapting to its new surroundings.

And you don't adopt a dog without having all the family members come in to see it, to make sure the dog will get along with everyone. My dog, for example, does not like large men. It would be a horrible idea for a dog like mine to be placed in a home where the father is 6'4".
