@DenuMusic The problem is not the ignition candles, the problem with these king of temperatures is that the radiator fluid might be frozen... :S I've seen engines falling apart and blowing up to pieces (no explosion of course) because the radiator fluid got frozen inside the engine refrigerating channels ..
hey i have the same car but without a tach. Do you know how your tach is connected? I know for gas cars they use the coil but diesel engines don't have coils
@DJRICH2626 There sometimes measured by a crankshaft position senor. if there is a metal toothed ring around the front of your crank shaft where the belt is, your tach may be read by that. Im not so sure about foriegn cars as im mostly a domestic mechanic, but it was worth informing you.
@mickeymoose76 : You serious ?? if your glow plugs are in order and the engine has good compression, these things start better at -40 celsius than any non-diesel car i have had !!
This is the inspection service indicator. 01 for small service, 02 for a more important one. afaik 01 means oil change, check out the air filter, etc.
As far aas i know, it will not change back to "IN00" by itself. You have to reset it after you have done the service on the car. For that: Turn the key on (don't start the engine), hold the odometer button, then turn the key off while still holding the button. Now press the hour button on the clock. This will reset the service reminder for an oil change. If you have an "IN 01", you must do it twice; three times for an "IN 02".
About the "thx", you're welcome, always glad to help when i can ;)

i started my golf iii tdi this week at -16°C
:):):)
it hadn't been used for 3 days before coldstart.
In fact, that was a real and brutal fight between engine and temperature but finnaly after about 10 seconds of rumble engine won :)
