  • @tkyaheya

    Thank You!

  • THANK U SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS LOVELY SONG WHAT BEAUTY ON THIS LYRICS

  • Jude, is the lyrics by Munidasa Kumarathunga? thanks in advance and thanks for uploading.

  • @losho236

I believe it was by Hubert Dissanayake who provided lyrics for most of his songs. Thank You.

  • @goonewj

I saw somewhere that lyrics were by Sunil Santha himself. Interesting

  • What a beautiful voice, lyrics and music. Sunil Shantha is one of the best singers mother Lanka produced.

  • Thanks for visiting and you valuable comment. Yes, Sunil Santha introduced Sri Lanka's own music style with his 'Olu Pipeela', and paved the way for other artists.

    Rgds,

    Jude

  • Thanks very much for adding Sunil Santha's lovely songs. They are evergreens!!

  • Your'e welcome. Thanks for visiting.

  • Great work Jude.. This is an all time classic and its popular forever.. Thank you so much for all the info about the great singer.. Its a pity that he had to do other jobs to survive even though he helped a lot of other singers...

I also need to say a few words about Ivor Dennis who kept the Sunil Shantha legend alive.. He is a most down to earth gentleman and I met him at a musical show in the UK.

  • Thank you very much Manel. He was a man of principles who did not want to trade music in for commercial gain. Ivor Dennis has been his life long faithful desciple, who's still continuing with the Sunil Gee tradition. I have uploaded a couple of Ivor's tracks yesterday.

I think it is not wrong to say that Sunil Santha is the God Father of true Sri Lankan music of our own style, that was developed with the introduction of 'Olu Pipeela'.

    Thanks again.

    Jude

  • Thanks for sharing...!

  • You're welcome Rohan!!

  • A great great classic....written by Huban Dissanayake with Sunil Santha's music. There is another song by the maestro "Jesu Upanne" with the same melody. Thanks Jude for posting this classic..!!

  • Thanks Aruna for the comment!! Yes, Hubert Dissanake wrote a number of songs for the maestro.

  • Thanks Jude,

Great, I sang this as a small child in school.

  • Thanks Palitha. This song is ever so popular today after all those years !!

  • Thank you for this golden oldie.

There is no other artist to match his clear, unsophisticated and unspoilt voice.

Ivor Dennis tried his best to carry on the legacy.

  • Thank you Tharupaba!! I agree, Sunil Santha was the pioneer who paved way to create our own music.
