The playing on this track was just absolutely inspired. This was back when Joe was still trying to make a name and was hungry to prove something. This is his "Eruption"! Best track on the album by far. The only thing that come close to this on FIABD would be his main solo on "I Believe". I get goose bumps every time I hear this stuff.
i pretty much like everything joe has done in his career, but the flying in a blue dream album is special for me. not only the songs are superb, but it takes me back to a real good time in my life.
@Preludiumi Lal is a character from the Star Trek series, it is an Android, the first one to look like it was having emotions, as it was processing danger situations and acting out of fear, Lal has the appearance of a humanoid female. It is cool to see that most of Joe's work is based on star trek facts.
@Preludiumi the story behind this is the bells of La some bells his wife gave him and the bells were for used on cam ails to cross the desert for good luck .. this has to be my fav of all time ...!!!!!!! FOR EVER JOE!!!!!!!!!!
u can't chose a "best solo" from Satch, he has so many great solos. Try listening to Andalusia or The Forgotten part 2, those are two of my favorites.
@Metalqorri Some of my favourites include Surfin' With The Alien first solo, Ice 9, Friends, Driving At Night, Flying In A Blue Dream, Searching and Motorcycle Driver. Those are just a few, though.
I love how the song ends the same way it begins, with the funk rhythm - you get the image of Satch walking into the room in the beginning of the song, while this cool funk thing is going on, laying down 4 minutes of blistering, face-melting guitar, and then just leaving the room as if nothing ever happened while the other guys are still playing the funk stuff and being like, "what the hell was THAT???"
at some point in this piece sound becomes light- close you're eyes and enjoy satriani's vision. Something similar, on the same level is Go Strange by frank marino with jimmy ayoub on drums done in 1981: the power of rock 'n' roll.
satch is so bad ass he just plays like he is a alien.there are more notes in this song than ten songs put together.he just blows you away with that bad ass sound he has made his own.a true master in the ways of string instuments. tracks on this and other albums he has made, look in the jacket some or most he laid down the bass line as well.simular to y.malmsteen he also did alot of the bass work along with guitar.these type of musicians our rare indeed.peace,godbless. we know satch is blessed.
I can't believe someone actually gets it. Today's pop music is so constricted in it's scope. It's as if this is too inaccessible to them or something, most people just don't get it.
thanks, yea alot most just dont realize how much brillance this takes.plus satch was a teacher as well.he gave kirt hammet lessons,as well as other famous muscians.peace and happy new year.
you notice that too, huh.... for like almost 18 years this is my favorite guitar instrumantal and the putz just cuts the track and forgets it, like "oh what was that? I forget! there was no song there-forget it, move along!"
It goes to show even the most talented artist can still have horrible taste in music, not recognizing the best of their own work.

Every once in a while, those sounds starting at 1:07 pop up in my head, though I haven't listened to the song for years.
Can't do a fucking thing about it.

satriani's the best at combining bass drums and guitar
some guitarists just focus on the guitar parts but I adore joe for not being one of them !!

Real guitar playing!!!!! I am tired of true talents like Joe not getting thier true accolades,
While so many of Todays "players" suck and consider this type of
guitar wizardy showing off! Chickenfoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a better CD than "Surfing with the Alien"
AnnaAnnaYes 1 year ago
@AnnaAnnaYes
I agree
viperfishsasori 1 year ago
@viperfishsasori The reason why so many of todays players suck
is because they feel they must develop an "image" first, and talent
second. Real guitarists like Rusty Cooley and Jeff Loomis represent
the new generation well, but they don't get the recognition they deserve.
Take Care!!
