But that was a great recipe, and my friend and I laughed at the freshly hugged bowl part. Thanks for this! We know what we're having for breakfast tomorrow.
@MegaAnimelvr1 Nope, I didn't miss it. Hehe, just look for the picture of Namine with the gigantic spoon. Anyways, you add the vanilla at the same time as you add the cream, so that's after you've put it into the fridge and let the mixture cool. ^_^ Enjoy your ice cream!
@mrnabil18 Well, I haven't ever been to the Philippnes myself, but I did do some research online and it looks like Sea Salt should be available where you live. In fact it appeared to me like there might be a few brands that even source from the Philippnes! ^_^ I hope you enjoy your ice cream!
@Oblivionstud666 Yup, it works and it's delicious! When prepared properly it had a nice salty sweet flavor. I would be careful when adding your salt though because with too much it can taste just like salt. Sea Salt is very potent. ^_^" When it's done right this, it's super yummy!
@MeleeGurl I srsly wanna try this now, but knowing ME and MY cooking skills... It's gonna be crap... And I don't think anyone I know is going to want to help me... ToT

Would it be alright to pour the mixture into ice cream molds and letting it freeze rather than shaping it with your hands after it freezes? 8D Very cute drawings by the way.
Love the fanfare at the end - and i really hope I don't make Ansem sad! And I always remember to add a little bit of love in everything I make. :D Thank you so much for this tutorial, I've been dying to make Sea-Salt ice cream for years now. :)
@murasakinoryuu Well I used a around half a teaspoon in mine and it was pretty salty. I liked it though because I don't mind salt at all. I would suggest putting it a quarter a teaspoon a time and tasting the mix. That way you'll know if you like it or not. I hope you enjoy your ice cream! ^_^
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the drawings! ^-^
I made this last night and I think it tastes okay. :) I think I maybe added in a little too much salt, as I was tasting it, and I wasn't really sure what it was meant to be like...so i added a little more salt. >____>; Ahhh well. I'll make more, and not use as much salt. xD
I am just wondering, could I possibly half the ingredients to make a smaller batch?
And I am kinda worrying about the raw eggs. Are they cooked when they go into the pan of milk? I don't want to get sick...D:
@purecomady Well, I can only tell you what I've done when I made the ice cream. I used only fresh eggs and seperated them by hand. It's really not hard to do if that's what you're worried about. ^_^
I wouldn't suggest using the carton egg whites and yolks but you can try it if you like.
Whichever way you decide to make your ice cream though, I really hope you enjoy it! ^_^
@wolfwoods12 Hmmmmm, the reason it didn't turn out could be a lot of different things. I would have to know exactly how you made the Ice Cream to find out what went wrong. But it could be too much of one ingredient, too little of another or something over cooked. It would suggest trying it again and watching the video step by step as you go along.
@srewyouspammers Yes, popcicle molds should be fine for freezing your ice cream. It would proabably be a little easier if you have the silicon ones but if it's the hard plastic that's fine too, just let it freeze for a little bit extra time. ^_^
@rotisepan@rotisepan Well, I didn't use table salt when I made the ice cream myself. So I wouldn't suggest it. There is a difference between Table Salt and Sea Salt, the largest being that Table Salt is idoized and Sea Salt isn't. So if I were you I would make it with Sea Salt. ^_^
@rotisepan For me, the ice cream tastes great! I love it! You have to have a thing for the salty sweet taste though. The actual "salty/sweet" flavor has gotten more popular over the years and I find it quite tasty. ^_^ Unless you know you don't like salty sweet, it is worth trying at least once.
I know that it's worth making over and over again! ^_^
@booshoe2000 Well there are many places that you can purchase sea salt. The most common place would be at your local grocery store, it should be with the rest of the seasonings and regular table salt. Remember to purchase regular sea salt, there are a few different kinds but any regular grade sea salt that doesn't say anything different about it on the pakcage is fine!
Man there are soo good. For that,I will keep on pressing the i like button.THX MeleeGurl! Oh and p.s, if i get to play kh2 or 1 I will avoid Atlantica! lol
Hmmmmm, that pretty curious how it tasted like egg. It's hard to guess what might have caused that. If I were you I would check over everything you used in the ice cream and make sure nothing was missing and that you did everything in order. ^_^ I'm sorry to hear the ice cream tasted like egg. I'm sure it'll go much better next time! ^_^
@1wowme1 what could have happened is that the eggs curdled when the yolks were added to the hot milk- some of the eggs got cooked hence the egg taste.
Next time try tempering by slowly raising the temperature of the eggs (adding the hot milk spoonfuls at a time to the yolks stirring immediately) before pouring them into the pot of milk. (look up tempering eggs)
Don't worry, we all have to start somewhere and sea salt ice cream is a great cooking project! As for shaping the bars there are a couple different methods. One of the easiest, if you can find it, is using a silicon popsicle mold. Another way would be waiting till the ice cream is solid and putting some on some wax paper or something else it won't stick to.
Then start molding the ice cream with clean hands into the shape of an ice cream bar. Once it's molded put the stick in and lay it on the wax paper with another piece of wax paper on top into the freezer. Once the bars are froze through you'll be ready to eat! ^_^
A store grade sea salt is fine. I would go with something pretty standard and not complicated (i.e. not pink sea salt). Another thing is that I didn't use a coarse sea salt but if that is the only one available to you then it should be fine. Just make sure it's all disolved into the ice cream! Enjoy! ^_^
Well, there isn't really a specific amount of time for stirring in the rest of your mixture with the egg whites. The ideal thing to to, is just to make sure that the two are mixed together well. ^_^
Well, I don't know of any vanilla substitutes t use in the ice cream. I personally have only used vanilla to make it before, so I wouldn't want to suggest something that I haven't tried out myself. ^_^"
The best suggestion I could offer is for you to either stop by your nearest grocery store to pick up some vanilla or you could always see if there's anyone near by you could borrow some from.
Well, I"ve made the ice cream before and it's delicious! This is the recipe that I use to make Sea Salt Ice Cream and I know of several other people that use this to make it also. Not to mention the many people who have commented on the video saying how well their ice cream turned out.
I can't say this is the recipe that Disney Sea in Disney Land Tokyo uses (where the ice cream originates). But I can tell you that this is a very reliable and tasty recipe for real sea salt ice cream! ^_^
im making this tomorrow for my birthday! im so excitedXD i just had to eat some after watching axel, roxas and xion (from kh) eat it like 100 times in the ds game. haha.
I do explain how much of each ingredient is needed in the ice cream. You'll see at the beginning of the video just after mentioning the milk I say that you'll need one cup of sugar. ^_^ Don't worry, all the information you need to make the ice cream is in the video!
Okay you are the first person to tell me how to do this with out an Ice Cream maker... T-T I love you... In a fellow KHfan way.. not a stalkish one... *runs to kitchen*
After you freeze the ice cream in a metal cake pan, you can put it into a popsicle maker. The only thing is, because it's ice cream it won't come out of the hard plastic ones that stand upright. I'd suggest using a popcisle mold that lays flat and in some cases the soft plastic uprght makers work. ^_^ After putting them in the mold or maker just refreeze. I hope this helps you out. ^_^
Well, when it put the mixture in the fridge to cool before adding the rest of the ingredients I would suggest leaving it there until it's cool. Just put your finger in to make sure that it's cool. I can't say an exact time because it depends on the tempature of your fridge. As for the freezer again it depends on the tempature it's set at...but just make sure it's good and frozen. You have to keep stirring it in the freezer so that should help you gage how frozen it is. ^_^
This is great! I want to try this now! *rummages around kitchen* Now's the time where I'm thankful my mom buys random stuff... *finds a bunch of extracts in a drawer*
I like experimenting... do you think other extracts aside (or with the) vanilla might be good too? I found a bunch; vanilla, lemon, cherry, cinnamon, orange, almond, chocolate... wait, chocolate?! :D
Yeah... do you think that any of these (including raspberry, which I'm going hunting for) might be good too?
lol Nice creativity and you'd better say thank you to your mom for the extra extracts! ^_^
Hmmmm, well I know that it NEEDS vanilla, so I'd suggest making the big batch with just vanilla and keeping a little bit off to the side for experimenting.
If I was to try adding something extra in for myself I think I would use almond, orange and chocolate! ^_^ Surprisingly chocolate and sea salt DO taste good together so it might just work!
Let me know how it is if you try the new flavors! ^_^
I've never tried adding Roxas to my ice cream. lol :P However, two things will happen. On the good side you're ice cream will taste even better and more salty/sweet! On the negative side....there will be no Roxas left for the Kingdom Hearts Series. T-T....XD
But I WANT Roxas in my seasalt ice-cream...

i dont have vanilla what can i use instead
habibehsisters 2 years ago
Well, I don't know of any vanilla substitutes t use in the ice cream. I personally have only used vanilla to make it before, so I wouldn't want to suggest something that I haven't tried out myself. ^_^"
The best suggestion I could offer is for you to either stop by your nearest grocery store to pick up some vanilla or you could always see if there's anyone near by you could borrow some from.
Enjoy your ice cream! ^_^
MeleeGurl 2 years ago
srry to ask but how do u know this is the real recipe
habibehsisters 2 years ago
Well, I"ve made the ice cream before and it's delicious! This is the recipe that I use to make Sea Salt Ice Cream and I know of several other people that use this to make it also. Not to mention the many people who have commented on the video saying how well their ice cream turned out.
I can't say this is the recipe that Disney Sea in Disney Land Tokyo uses (where the ice cream originates). But I can tell you that this is a very reliable and tasty recipe for real sea salt ice cream! ^_^

spotdathief 2 years ago
oh okay ^^
spotdathief 2 years ago
you didnt say how much amount of sugar and other things to add in...
spotdathief 2 years ago
I do explain how much of each ingredient is needed in the ice cream. You'll see at the beginning of the video just after mentioning the milk I say that you'll need one cup of sugar. ^_^ Don't worry, all the information you need to make the ice cream is in the video!

Okay you are the first person to tell me how to do this with out an Ice Cream maker... T-T I love you... In a fellow KHfan way.. not a stalkish one... *runs to kitchen*
katecole13 2 years ago 4
can i put the mixture in a popsicle maker?or do i have to put it in a cake pan?
elmoman911 2 years ago
After you freeze the ice cream in a metal cake pan, you can put it into a popsicle maker. The only thing is, because it's ice cream it won't come out of the hard plastic ones that stand upright. I'd suggest using a popcisle mold that lays flat and in some cases the soft plastic uprght makers work. ^_^ After putting them in the mold or maker just refreeze. I hope this helps you out. ^_^
MeleeGurl 2 years ago
Awsome video!!!! oh, btw, how long do you put the sea salt ice cream in the frige and freezer? Also, how much sea salt? Thx!!!! XD
9animefan 2 years ago
Well, when it put the mixture in the fridge to cool before adding the rest of the ingredients I would suggest leaving it there until it's cool. Just put your finger in to make sure that it's cool. I can't say an exact time because it depends on the tempature of your fridge. As for the freezer again it depends on the tempature it's set at...but just make sure it's good and frozen. You have to keep stirring it in the freezer so that should help you gage how frozen it is. ^_^

lol this was crackup. A shame I can't share with my friends - they don't like the idea of salt in ice cream :(

ErikaStrider 2 years ago
lol Nice creativity and you'd better say thank you to your mom for the extra extracts!
MeleeGurl 2 years ago
Okay! I'll try it when we find our ice cream maker (it's here somewhere!)
Hmm... Almond, orange and chocolate. Okay, I'll try those then!
Thanks!
ErikaStrider 2 years ago
uuum....what happens if i added roxas...not that i did...maybe...>.>
masteremerald89 2 years ago
I've never tried adding Roxas to my ice cream. lol :P However, two things will happen. On the good side you're ice cream will taste even better and more salty/sweet! On the negative side....there will be no Roxas left for the Kingdom Hearts Series. T-T....XD
