¿Fue esta la primer carrera nocturna en un trazo callejero de autos tipo formula?. La pregunta viene al caso porque Bernie Ecclestone se ha "pavoneado" en decir que la carrera nocturna en las calles de Singapur es única en su tipo...de haber sido la carrera de champ car la primera en correrse de noche sobre un circuito callejero las declaraciones de Mr. Ecclestone se echarian por la borda.

Absolutely agree. Champ car was amazing, for me was better than Indycar now, Indycar cars are ugly and slow. the DP01 chasis is maybe now in a musseum, so sad. I miss champ car.

Nope. Champ Car and Indycar united last year and the cars are totally different engine and chassis wise. Some Champ Car teams didn't survive the merger.

The company who did the floodlights for this are doing the Singapore F1 race. Seems bright enough.

This sure brings back memories! I went to this and last years race. Sucks it was canceled this year as I was planning on going two days to catch the Champ car race and ALMS. I'll stick to watching ALMS and F1 on tv :)

Who Are Yoy Tony George Champ Cars Are alot better Looking The Turbocharged Engine is amazing , and Champ Car has better technolodgy with Power 2 Pass and 2 types of Bridgestone tires. Champ Car Has great race tracks 2 Toronto Endmonton Surfers Laguna Clevlan Road America and Portland.

Frankly you're kind of in a race to die first, adn frankly mostly ovals (IRL), and mostly street circuits (CCWS) is boring. With a merger you could have a good mix, plus some of the classic American race tracks. Yes to the merger.

Hi, Nobotura74! A big thank you from Houston for posting this --- I have long been curious about how the event came across on European TV, etc. Naturally, I wasn't watching TV at the time --- I was *there*! :-D I *so* wish that Champ Car would go back under the lights, but there are no plans for that (partly because Champ Cars are so loud that it disturbs people's sleep, if you run 'em at night).

Yeah, I think that ChampCar and other kind of racing like Rallys, Le Mans, F1, etc. are beautiful at night, but there are some problems: it isn't very secure for drivers, the times are difficult for people who watch the race, and lighting it's very spend.

Your English is fine, and I'll try to keep mine simple *chuckle!* One more thing about the lighting --- American LeMans *will* continue to run at night, but, of course, the GT and Prototype cars have working headlights, where Champ Cars don't. I can see where the open-wheel guys might've complained about this, because, while we *did* have a lot of light on the track, the glare was very "un-natural" and messed with your depth-perception.

lol, for F1, I was wondering what a challenge it would be to incorporate a single powerful light into the front of the car. That way if the budget teams could get a reliable light and the good teams' lights failed (earning a black and orange flag) we could have an upset on our hands. Obviously not, but just daydreaming..

Oh, it certainly will, LIanfifecan! :-D I can say that for certain, because I, myself, will be working for the Grand Prix of Houston the next couple of evenings, helping with advance ticket sales! I've worked as a volunteer at the last two races, also, and it's always a blast! Hope to see you there!

Hi, LIanfifecan! I can tell you first hand that the Grand Prix of Houston is going strong, and I had a *lot* of very postive response to the phone-calling that we did before Thanksgiving. One guy bought, like, $1100 worth of tickets, the next day! :-D

CART used to be great to watch back in the day when they ran on both street circuits and on ovals. I'm not a big fan of oval racing at all however the CART rounds were really exciting on them and it was great to see the drivers going from a street course to oval then back to the street, having to adjust to everything really fast.

It is a shame, you're right, GoFeri --- it was really dramatic, that first year of "re-birth" (Champ Car hadn't run here since 2001). But, as you may know, the Grand Prix of Houston is a "double-header" with American LeMans, and they *will* be running under the lights on Saturday night in 2008!

I used to like CART in the past but not anymore with the CCWS. Streets and Road Courses without ovals are boring for me. There is absolutely no diversification in champcar. I'm having a bad feeling about the CCWS for dropping too many traditional races.
