What happened to the posting of this song by Fagapperd14? It was so beautiful. The haunting lovely melody of this song with the posting of stunning pics of Africa was just too beautiful to ignore. WHERE DID THE POSTING GO???
This film, this music, transports those of us who grew up in the old Africa magically back to there, and then. Growing up in the African bush was very special. I wrote my story in 'Speak Swahili, Dammit!'
Great movie. Lovers of Africa appreciate it. I grew up in Tanganyika, later Tanzania, then went to a Kenya boarding school. I know the house in Karen, near Nairobi, where most of the film was shot. My book, 'Speak Swahili, Dammit!', the story of my own wild East African childhood, is doing well on Amazon, & as an Apple iBook & Kindle eBook. Short video on youtube, with original footage in the bush 1950's & 60's, under Speak Swahili, Dammit!
@queenval Thanks...I'm not sure what's happening...it's happened to several of my Melissa Manchester posts...gotta figure out how to fix it. I'll report it to you tube. thanks.
Damn I wish I could find this music vid in Hi Def... I remember watching it when it came out back in the early 80's and was very impressed by not only the singing but also the cinematography/photography. Was fantastic and yet passed over by the powers that be/were for promotion. Even these days if you ask either Melissa or Al Jarreau about it on their sites its as if they don't want to know about it... yet I think its a masterpiece.
Aside from the title cut/Love theme from the movie "Titanic", this is one of the top 3 movie love songs of my generation. It certainly fits the title characters, especially since the song was written post soundtrack.
I agree but if it had to be a duet, I'd prefer if she did it with Peabo Bryson...they have such great chemistry together. They'll be performing together in the Colors of Christmas again..can't wait to see them.
I loved this song and video. When I watched the movie, I was expecting to hear the song in it, it was not there. I did not like the movie, pretty boring I thought, but I was younger then, in 1987. Might like it now, who know.
This song is available on a CD version of the sndtrk - MCA MCLD 19092 (1985). I love this song and can't believe it was not promoted better by MCA. It should have been a big hit and an oscar nominee.
It's on the cassette version of the movie soundtrack. I own it. I love soundtracks and bought soundtracks when they were on cassettes prior to the intro of CDs. You can't find the duet on mancseter's albums and jarreau's albums. There may be some cassettes out there. Good luck.
I love this song!!! But I cannot find it anywhere to download it since it was produced after the movie came out....enduring theme, beautiful voices...miss vocalists like this!!!
I love movie scores and soundtracks. When the "Out of Africa" soundtrack came out. I bought the cassette tape. Either no CDs yet on market, not sure. To my surprise years later I realized the song was on the cassette. I love the song!
I love this song since I first heard it in "Out of Africa"! I've seen the movie like 20 times...and it makes me cry each time I see it.
I remember seeing this video only once, here in B.A., Argentina, in the 80's and I couldn't tape it. Thank u so much for giving me back this good memory.

Do you think it was because the song was done as an after thought by the powers-that-be? Thanks for this video.
