Imagine. First Test Flight. All systems running perfectly when you hey a buzzing sound and a hind comes in. Your controller goes " beep beep beep beep beep Missle Incoming!" BOOM! Apache Gone.
thats funny, i hope you are kidding.if you arent, then these so called toys are only for hobbyists responsible enough to know that they arent toys and can be dangerous and chasing people withthem is neither safe nor smart. many hours have been put into building this and many models and to risk the dangers of damaging them or hurting someone is not a way we see enjoying them
I am not allowed to play with radio controlled craft... a judge has banned me from doing so because I cannot resist chasing people with them. Thank you for helping my addiction.
now would someone plz build a RC Terrorist figure with a mini RC RPG to shoot at that RC Heli so we can start a new type of RC warfare in the park instead of playing video and computer game.
Hey. I am on the look out for a nice R/C helicopter, but i cant find any decent apache models. im looking for helicopter in a price range of 450 - 550 USD, not to exspensive because i am not a RC fanatic.
AH64D apache longbow, fcr or no fcr, the d model is a longbow.
if you look at the two in comparison, you will notice a few subtle physical differences
the dmodelhas a larger forward avionics bay, the air data sensors areon the engine nacelles, the strobe and nav lights are also on the engine nacelles and the stabilator has trimtabs on the trailing edge.
@copterdoctor200 Thanks! I do notice it now that you pointed it out, but isn't the FCR responsible for detecting threats while the actual chopper is below the tree lines and relaying them to other pilots as well? Or is does that all happen with the instruments inside?
@copterdoctor200 LOL i was about to post a comment like this I dont like the Alpha Wing The Delta wing apache is better in every way im shure u know :)
Halalabun, its one of my favorites too and why i researched it.you should too and will see that the fcr on top does not make it a longbow, the avionics and capabilities that are different from the "A" model does. the mast mounted fcr does a very small portion of the job a longbow is capeable of.
hey dude if ya could when ya get the price figured out maybe we could discuss a payment option. message me back bro its so far the nicest ah-64 rc helo i seen yet. id kill for one of those.
@bhizahr there is no longbow because on a scale model it will make it op heavy nd mess up the flying. This would lead to a crash and alot of money in repair
i have been reading material form the manufacturer (Boeing) that says just the opposite. the mast mounted fcr is only one of the many systems of the longbow. the term used for the ones without is DWO or D model without radar. they can do all the tasks the fcr equipped helis can do except generate FCR and RFI targets. "longbow" is the name designating the "D" model over the older "A" model. not a radar thing.
@chrislewis1981 actually, it is a longbow. i made the fabs larger just like they are on the "D" model, the nav and strobe lights are on the engine nacelles instead of the tips of the weapons wing as on the "A" model and the air data sensors are located on the engine nacelles as well instead of the top og the rotorhead where the "A" model has them.
also not all the longbows are equiped with the FCR (fire control radar) since only one in a flight of seven need it for a mission.
i wish one day the RC aircrafts could install some firing missles! that'll be awesome! and with this apache, i could kill those army mens that my lil bro is playing with muahahaha
that thing is cool as shit....i think you said you were around rucker...im going thru 64D school and would love to check it out cause ive been interested in these things but dont know were to start...thanks
Actually, it is. The AH-64A has an air data sensor on top of the rotor which the longbow does not have. It does not necessarily need to have the radar dome on top to be a longbow
Im sure you get this all the time but where did you get that model and how much .... I was looking into getting that but idk where to look sweet helicopter though
after about 15 mins i am ready for a break so i dont really know how long it will run on a full tank. flight times vary with the size of the tank, rpm you run the engine, mixture settings and nitro content of fuel.
I was looking at the kits available at starwood models, it looks like the motor is a separate purchase than the heli kit. Also it looks like rc transmitter reciever is a separate purchase than the motor. What size motor did you use for this one? What would be the smallest size motor I could use for this type of heli? How much did it cost to build this heli (kit + motor + accessories)?
Also how far does your model fly - distance and altitude?
okay, i guess not everyone is aware that the FCR on top isnt what makes the D model apache the longbow version. there are some not equiped withthe FCR. on a typical mission, only one in every seven is equiped with the FCR.
the other ways to tell the longbow from the older A model is the larger forward avionics bay, the air data sensors on the top of the engine nacelles and the nav and strobe lights arent on the weapons pylons tip they are located on the side of the engine nacelles.
nicksf1, i am sorry but you are incorrect. see the thing on top is a fire control radar. only one out of eight need to have it on a typical mission. thats why they arent al equiped with it. apaches dont usually fight alone. each ship has a primary and a secondary target. one ships primary is another's secondary. that show they ensure acuracy and a 100% kill ratio. so there ya have it. the only time an apache isnt a longbow, is if it is an "A" model.
you are right the FCR is only need on one out of every 7 or 8 the FCR the is radar for the whole squid out on that mission it tells all the other longbows what is going on on the battle field, along with telling troop and battalion commanders on the ground what is going on
the fuel is liquid but not gasoline in this case. this one is nitro powered. a mixture of nitromethane and methanol with a synthetic lubricant mixed in.
Maby a tip for the next time make yourself some floats and try it firsht on whater. that way you will see much earlyer where to trim or adjust. .. but always take it easy or you will and upside down in the wather.. no body damage though but dunno youre electronics XD
it will fly as high as i wnt to take it. the vid was shot in my back yard and as you can see, trees are all around s well as above. this machine hasnt been flown enough yet even though i have had it a year and still many bugs to work out.
there were three brands available. mine is the approach engineering kit which will be available again soon. production stopped after the owner passed away but it has been resumed by the new owner. the len mount kit may no longer be available but it was a d model and very nice, big and expensive. see it at starwood models. the other is indy helis which makes an a model the same size as the len mount kit also impressive and pricy.
a typical mission only requires one helicopter out of a few in a flight group to have the fcr on top. here at ft rucker, all the apaches are the longbow or "D" model. about half of them are equiped with the fcr. i will have video with the fcr inplace posted soon.
unfortunately, the fuselage is currently and hopefully temporarily unavailable since the coe of the company that produces it passed away. there are others like indy helis and starwood models that produce an apache fuselage. the indy is made for gas or electric while the starwood version is for gas or turbine. both are quite a bit larger thanthe approach engineering kit in my vid and quite a bit more expensive.
while i admit that isnt my best flying, especially while trying to hover it while looking at the camera's screen to make sure the heli stays in the shot, i welcome a video of your longbow flying.
