the 997tt seems to not lag when your comparing it some other turbo car, but against a highly tuned NA v10 the lag is noticeable.. yes the VVG technology is very impressive, its why i bought a 997tt in the first place. All in all you cant beat physics, the turbo still has to spool up, the 997tt just does it faster.

I don't agree. The old 996 Turbo had much less turbo lag than the 997 (even though Porsche claimed otherwise). I've had both.

The 997's do lag. My buddy has one and I crush him off the line every single time (90s supercharged mustang). I pull past him and while I do, I can hear the turbos starting to spool up. Once they do, I can't pull away as fast. At about 160 though, i hit an aerodynamic wall and the fun is over. Otherwise both are FUN cars.

every turbo lags... that's the nature of a turbo. However, Porsche's lag less because they are twin turbos and well engineered.

It would be intersting I think. Both are 612 HP, Porsche is a way lighter but the Mercedes has a phenomenal torque.

the Carrera GT is faster than the 599 GTB. There is a video on youtube. The 599 GTB also lost to the Merc SLR. So I'm guessing it'll be slower against the SLR 722

I actually enjoyed watching that Porsche come out on top. Not sure but I think 997s have been detrimental to the 911 name (turbo understeers more than before, the GT3 weighs more and the GT2 is pointless). Now that there's direct fuel injection, it's making a heck of a lot of difference.
