I just special ordered "Batman:Year One" at my local "Books-A-Million". I'm buying it because I saw the animated adaptation and got hooked. The Animated movie was great, but I bet the book is better.

It was about two men whe were escaping from a insane asylem and they were running over roof tops one of them jumped over from one roof to the other the other wouldn't jump the one had a flash light and said "I'll shine the beem accross and you can walk accross the beam"... the other said "what you think i'm crazy? you'll turn off the light when I am half way accross!"
@LazerDude99 Bruce's laughter reflects his own personality. As the story reaches its cimax you suddenly notice that he is just as insane as the Joker. And that's the one reason to me why "The killing joke" is such an excellent comic book!

hey guys.. got any good suggestions about new good batman graphic novels right now? the last one I read was RIP and the it's tie-in (the one involving hush and catwoman's heart getting ripped out)...
the killing joke was an OK read..but i think its way too overrated. Brian azarello's JOKER is better in my opinion, the joker version on that is absolutely pure evil! i mean he kills a couple of old bags with a razor just for kicks!
well I put these in order of good read and ones that have inpacted comics the most and the Killing joke has impacted comics a lot.... but hey I like the Joker novel to but that isn't a Batman story at all.... he is only in the end and says one line

Hush is the one that got me into collecting these expensive comic books.. and I haven't regreted that since day one.
Batman stories are always a great read.. they are simply excellently written noir novels that are disguised as comic books. nuff said:D

I love the killing joke up until the ending. It's absolutly rediculas that Hush is above The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum tho.
That scene in Batman Year One is my favorite scene in the book too.

I put Hush above it because it was what got me into comics... so it has some real value to me.... it was almost a tie between number 4,5,and 6
