Too many on this list are about the setting and not about the people who inhabit them(fallout, bioshock and even the great half life 2). I wish they had some games like baldurs gate 2 up there, love me some Minsc & Boo, or something in the gta series. Only other quibble is that the narrative in god of war was pretty generic and followed a predictable pattern. Although I kind of like how it followed some of the classic Greek tropes, there are much stronger narratives out there.

My list: 10: Grim Fandango 9: Heavy Rain 8: Portal 7: Mass Effect 6: Fallout 1 5: Planescape: Torment 4: System Shock 2 3: Descent: Freespace 2: Half-Life 2 1: Star Wars: KOTOR. Overall, get rid of GoW, it doesn't belong...and replace it with a game that to this day has unparalleled atmosphere. Also, get rid of the "clone" games (Fallout 3 and Bioshock) and replace them with their lesser known originals.

MGS, Silent Hill 2 (more of a fan of the first one, but 2's narrative was better), Assasin's Creed 2, Uncharted. These games needed to be on this list. There was like zero action games doing story back when MGS came out, you simply CANT not give a mention.

Love Bioshock to death, awesome atmosphere, awesome premise . . . but narrative? Please, little to be had. Now Infinite might be worthy, that ten minute trailer shows more character interaction than both of the 1 and 2 combined.
