Charlie & Ira Louvin made a great contribution to country music that hasn't been equaled to this day. This is one of their greatest and thank you so very much for putting it up here for those to hear who aren't familiar with their work. THANKS SO VERY MUCH, C.W.
Wonderful, soulful, heartfelt duo--we were lucky to have them while we did. Their music will endure, touching future generations and inspiring as yet unborn singers to ground themselves in the roots of their craft.
It just doesn't get any better. Charlie is now in the heavenly choir harmonizing with ease. Betty our prayers and thoughts go out to you and the boys. May you find some solace in know that others care.
And now Charlie is gone. Spectacular harmonies, and inspiration to all singers, fun songs for a kid growing up (cash on the barrellhead a great phrase), they have left a pile of songs that are always fun to play.
In 1953 and 1954 I worked two jobs in San Antonio and listened to the old stump-jumper, poke-salad eatin' Charlie Walker. He played lots of the Louvin Bros and Jim and Jesse. Still good today, don't know what happened to old Charlie. Maybe somebody knocked him off that old bois d'arc stump!
BRILLIANT harmonies and talent and Charlie is a super nice guy. I smoked a cigarette with him and talked about the Delmore Brothers a few years back and he is a perfect gentleman with a great knowledge of music.
The Louvin Brothers are phenomenal. Their harmony is wonderful. I love to hear Ira do the solos here. He and Charlie made such a terrific duo and all of their music is the best. They always looked so classy and were so gentlemanly in their shows. I cried the day I heard Ira died and who knows just where they would be today if he had lived. Thank you for posting this treasure. - Paula (PaulinaRena)
@musicmaker1999 These fellas were in a league of their own. They pulled all those great old hillbilly harmonies and stories together and presented them in a high level of musicianship. I love their music.
Now that's the way a man should feel about his woman. Way to go, We need more talent like this now days.

There may be others who would dare to eclipse the Louvin brother's on this song but they would, of course fail in a most dismal manner....!
