Even though I hate the Canadians, their fans are some of the best out there. They never shut up at home, which is a good thing. That ole chant keeps the players in the game, you can tell. Wish we had something like it at the TD Garden (Boston Bruins fan).

It's true, the Habs did have first dibs on Quebec born players for a long time. That being said, the amount of Cups has nothing to do with the reason I love the team. I find most people love the team because it has a special culture behind it, at least that's why I do. Don't get me wrong, the Cups are great, but I'll love this club for the rest of my life, no matter what. Alot of Habs fans are generally very passionate, not just for the Habs, but for anything we enjoy.

@fza2001 If the myth were true, the Canadiens would have also snapped up Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert, and Gil Perreault among others. The possibilities are endless - they would have likely never lost a game, nevermind the Stanley Cup. The Myth was created by ticked off fans from losing teams. Habs just dominated and now have a young core to build with and win more cups.

@vincecarder it's not a myth.. prior to amateur drafting the Canadiens had exclusive rights to 2 players per year... above and beyond that Montreal set up networks of junior and senior leagues in Quebec and elsewhere and those players would belong to Montreal in the future. This system ensured a near monopoly of players from Quebec, while it wasn’t their ‘right’ Montreal’s development system meant it didn’t have to be a right. It was a complete Monopoly .. hang your berets on that.
