Oh man... I'm so sorry bro.. I've had this kind of thing happen to me before, but not this bad. 197 wins? I give you mighty respect for that right there man, good job!
the only pokemon i really want to RNG abuse is Mespirit but i epically failed on Diamond, but i recently got Platinum last tuesday so im willing to try again. please messege me if you can help me dude if not its totally fine i'll just keep trying unti i figure it out.
@AceKarizo I'm not sure how I can help - have you found Smogon's guide to RNG abuse? That's what I used to master it, but it took time to figure it out...
@AceKarizo Yeah, I failed mainly because I didn't have flawless IVs. This was back when I was completely new to RNG-abuse, I'd mastered getting shinies but didn't learn about getting flawless IVs on them until after this video.
@alanb9 Starmie is my favourite Pokemon to use in the Battle Tower; but is not suited to Trick teams. I use lead EB Starmie until battle 49, then switch to my 646-streak Trick team (not this crap one).
@SalvationStudios1 The battle itself was an epic fail (the team kinda sucked too), but 197 is nothing compared to 646 which I eventually got. Good luck with your Trick team streaks!
Anyways why in the world would you use super power wasting all those sword dances? Granted if the milotic had died well everything would have unfolded the same way, bad move to use first on a sword dancing scizor ima go check your new video now
@tabbris "Wasting all those Swords Dances" - it's only 'wasting' half of one, and Superpower is the essential coverage move for Trick team Scizor in the Tower, as Brick Break is so weak. It's not a bad move to use on an SD Scizor, it's a bad move to use Scizor in the first place (hence why it was only in this first experimental team).
@Scottza1997 Nah, 80% accuracy is terrible. It might be passable in battles against humans, but in long streaks of course you're going to get the 1 in 5 chance of missing happening many times.
80% accuracy means means about 50/60% in the Battle Tower. Honestly, its only a shitload of bullshit in that tower. Finished my Dusknoir a couple weeks ago and was ready to have a blast. Dream came quickly to an end when Will-O-Wisp missed 4 times in a row. F#cking retarded shit. Soz for language.
You know, I always wondered when a lifebar is orange when a pokemons has MORE than half of its max hp. I just cant get over that.
@Stino7777777 Indeed, but not when the AI uses moves with that accuracy... but honestly, the main problem is using Dusknoir and Will-O-Wisp. Both are far too unreliable for a big win streak in the Tower/etc. I've noticed that it goes orange just slightly above 50% health... or it seems to.
@YodatheJedi12 Heh, I'm sure you'll get it if you persist... this was the same streak where I first passed 100... since then, I've passed it at least 7 times, my best being 646.
(computer player)"yep you did good. no seriously." yeah shut the fuck up your milotic and rhyperior are cheep as ass, and proves ace trainers have no skill. I feel your pain bro i hate when shit like this happens.
@samusbionicle I'm actually lucky that *most* of my losses are to trainers who say 'positive' things when they win, but of course that still pissed me off! It was more own Scizor's fault than the Milotic, since it didn't have a flawless Attack IV. But the Rhyperior, yes that was cheap! Damn Solid Rock and low random damage modifiers (btw, if you want to see real shit happening, check out my 1 in 184544 chance hax battle)
@BozoTheBear Imagine if you got beaten by a person in real life who did that... it would be pretty hard not to punch them, right? Luckily I don't have anger problems like some... in the real life tournament happening soon, I might see some angry reactions to losses, lol.
Yeah, but with Milotic it was because I forgot about Marvel Scale... although the full paralysis helped in some ways. Rhyperior has a 50% chance of having Solid Rock, which sucks... either way, my 313 team easily beats the same type of enemies.
damn this is not me but somehow it pisses me off seen such uber riperior. im sure if the riperior was you and the garchomp was them the game would have screwed you in another way, im going to say critical hit, im sure of it.
Yep, I agree that Rhyperior is a fag. The game is designed to screw you up, although I'm about to upload my new video of my superior 313 streak in the Tower.
yes a fag indeed, i never liked that tank looking thing i prefer to stay with my rhydon lol and damn!! 313 you must be good i think i only made it to 27 >_> oh man, do i rule or what?? lol
Any decent combination of Pokemon EV trained and with good IVs can easily beat him. If you want to beat stuff in the tower, just use a Garchomp and something else good.
ive got a garchomp but the rest suck .i dont know if this is too much too ask but could you make a video showing some pokemon that are good for ev training and show pokemon to kill to get EVs
Well, there are already countless videos showing that, plus my computer's broken so I can't make videos. A video isn't necessary to learn; I mastered EV training from reading Serebii's Effort Values article.
Nice that you felt empathy there, although to be honest I was actually slightly relieved... in fact, I swore less than 10 times upon losing... that's how calm I was!
Well, at least you made it decently far. Usually when something like that happens to me I swear a whole lot and still hold a grudge about it the day afterward. If it were me, I'd be pissed beyond believe. Kudos to you for staying calm.
Lol, that's strange because I can almost guarantee that I'm a more highly strung person than you... I get especially pissed off with many other games. I guess the breaking of the monotony had a strangely relieving effect. With all previous Tower attempts with non-Trick teams (without Trick it's almost impossible...), I did get furious upon losing though.
No way. I yell at the TV all the time. Especially when I'm playing Brawl or Mario Kart Wii and something stupid happens at the very last minute, costing me a match. I never had a Trick team on my old save file, so I wonder how it would have turned out if I'd used my old team.
Hax is frustrating. Really, really, rip-out-your-hair frustrating. Especially in Pokemon against a CPU. I kind of feel embarrassed losing to CPUs unless they're on Hard difficulty.
Hax is required in Pokemon to prevent infinite win streaks. The best teams could theoretically get 1000s of wins in a row, but hax must exist to stop that.
Hax is like... like... uh, like something that prevents you from doing something good. Of course the best teams would be able to win all the time if not for hax. This is probably why we have secondary move effects and the RNG.
Yes, I agree that secondary move effects exist almost purely to mix it up when battles are too even or monotonous, and to prevent the better team from ALWAYS winning. In reality, these small chances are a burden to any tournament player.
In any good RPG game, you're going to find hax. It's inevitable. Considering the fact that most CPUs use no particular strategy used in the human world (you've never seen a Hailstorm/Trick Room/some other Smogon strategy while facing CPUs, have you?) the game designers realized that one way or another we're going to find good strategies, thus manipulating our awesome plans and creating hax. ^^
Actually, Muscle band also gives 20%, as does Wise Glasses. I have no idea where you pulled that from, all the boosting items got jacked up to 120% (except Choice items and Life Orb, obviousy).
Both Smogon and Bulbapedia state 10% for Muscle Band, so where did YOU pull that from!? Some obscure source, probably. If all boosting items were at 120%, they'd be very popular - but due to the mere 10%, items like Life Orb are more popular.
Muscle Band gives +10% to all physical attacks, Iron Plate is +20% to Steel-type attacks. Since Bullet Punch is used at least 95% of the time compared to Superpower, it's much more useful. I also hate Life Orb + Sub HP loss since I don't Roost, so IP it is. Seriously, I only used Superpower a few times in the whole streak... mainly on slow, bulky waters (as seen with Milotic in this vid, although Milo is faster, and I realized then I really need a 32 Attack IV to kill such things >_>)
It sure did... it's quite convenient that I play many different game series, including Warcraft 3 where the sad music was from.
It was probably more painful for you than me, since I kind of didn't mind when it happened. Though it was too close to 200... anyway, thanks for your nice comment.
Yup, it sure is! People often forget that when discussing how someone could've won... and often it proves that lack of knowledge is the only reason the person lost... usually.
Yes, but obviously when I was doing the battle, I didn't know what opponents were remaining... if I did, I would have sent out Garchomp. People often forget that things are easier when you know what to expect. Plus Starmie could have been a +Speed one and then possibly Freeze-haxed me. So that was just as risky.
That sucks. I ALMOST got to Palmer once but then I found out my Pikachu wasn't qualified for the battle I was in...the hard way. I also found out a minute ago that Garchomp CAN ACTUALLY LEARN SURF (I never would've thought of that).
I guess it does; the chance of not 2-hit KOing that Rhyperior was less than 50%. I wouldn't expect Pikachu to get far in the Frontier. Also, Garchomp can learn such moves but they are a waste due to the low Sp. Atk.
Yeah it was, those cursed randomizations in the damage calculation >_>, and Solid Rock of course. If I had a Suicune instead of Garchomp (a guy with 300+ on Smogon used one) I'd have pwned the fat boulder.
It certainly is a Hax Tower... I was lucky to get so far. Kind of embarrassing that I lost sort-of fairly... not to criticals or hax items.
Yup, looking at the entire moveset list can be amusing.
Yeah, I'll permanently hold a grudge against that obese boulder >_>. Solid Rock ability is why I lost. Thanks, I agree that 196 is awesome, but I was hoping for 200 at least.
Okay, good luck! You'll need patience and LUCK. Trust me, I mainly got that far due to relatively good luck.
Pokemon games, like most other RPGs, use a randomizer in the damage calculation formula. That means I did less in the second hit, sadly not enough to take another 50% of Rhyperior's HP, thanks to Solid Rock.

How come you couldn't defeat Rhyperior...? You took half of his hp away in the first move. Wouldn't it will be the same for the second time?
Anyways very nice job getting to 196 streak... I can't even go pass streak 35 -_-

well some moves have some give as in they might be harsher or weaker it is random but it can suck if it is agianst you

To put it simply: The game uses a non-uniform randomizer in which the smallest probability is about 2% to get maximum damage.

Pokemon games, like most other RPGs, use a randomizer in the damage calculation formula. That means I did less in the second hit, sadly not enough to take another 50% of Rhyperior's HP, thanks to Solid Rock.
Thanks, and 35 is better than a lot of people.

Fair enough. Also, it's common for people to hate things they're not good at.
