@crocutable, not precisely. Geosynchronous orbit is at nearly 36,000km above the Earth, where the orbital period is the same as one Earth day - good for communications satellites and things that need to see the same spot on the earth.
All the shuttle-related missions you see are Low Earth Orbit, well under 1,000 km, where an orbit takes 90 minutes or so.
Real music. I love listening to this CRANKED! The theme gives me goosebumps.
Too many kids today can't understand music that isn't generated by some computer program instead of a human brain. If it doesn't sound like every other song they listen to it isn't worth listening to.
I imagine myself working in space, looking at planet Earth from my office window and listening to this funky tune.....time to turn on, tune in and drop out!!!......later folks..
Btw have you heard Neil Norman's version? I have it on a old tape from his 1980 album Galaxy Gold. It's on spotify but sadly not youtube - I don't think! Also most awesome :)
This should be heard in analog quadraphonic sound with the video on an IMAX screen.
I had an idea to use this track as a class presentaion in junior high but I just couldn't figure out what video to put it to. It's painfully obvious now. lol
Minneapolis- I purchased the original album by Eumir Deodato(Brazil) in 1973. A friend begged me to give him the album- I wish I had not. Deodato means "Gift of God" in Latin. The arrangement won a Grammy in '73 for best instrumental and went to # 2 on the USA pop chart. I drum along with it on my djembe West African drum.
Grew up in Cape Town South Africa . Use to listen to this on 8 track while washing my brother's car on a Saturday mornings . I then took the car for a " spin " while crangking up this tune ,
2:08,i think he is refering to a those retro rockets that detatch after the main blast off..originally these shuttles were supposed to be the ultimate nuclear bombers that could reach destination faster than aircraft, and were a source of ronald reagan's star wars program in the cold war which was going to deliver war heads and have lazer anti missile satellites posted round the earth etc
It is not a bomb, it must be a satellite taken up by the space shuttle and released into orbit. If there is a bomb, we would not have access to images of it !
