call me crazy but i feel like the bang for the buck went out the window somewhere along the way... Im thinking it was in between the thought "how can i cool this thing" and "hey did you guys see my gloves...what they snapped in half because they were so cold"...
I have quite a few questions what is the max clock speed before liquid nitrogen cooling is needed how long does that last for how much does it cost how long would it take before it catches fire without cooling
ive always wondered when they were going to create some form of liquid nitrogen cooling system for pc's now if only you could fit that into some kind of compact circulating pump system keep the liquid nitrogen cold all the time and kept it from evaporating into the air. cause im sick of air cooling my cpu which runs at like 75 degrees farenheit at idle i want it super cooled lol.
now 5 years later after this video, still no self catained nitro system on the market for sale to pc diy modders, yes dice has a dry ice / nitro bowl but still no idiot prof system??? some one call corsair and tell them to fk the h water cooler line and get some nitro coolers out for us !!!!!!
I know someone who do something like this at uni recently but instead of 5Ghz they had it up to 25Ghz. Using an Intel Processor. Dont ask which 1 I aint got a clue but come on 25Ghz. What would you need that speed for besides the ultimate gaming experience XD
@ricardopiskorz are you sure it was 25Ghz, that sounds like a load of crap to me, I mean mathematically speaking the archetecture that we use wont go past 10Ghz under any conditions, and at 25Ghz, the amount of heat to dicipate you would cause a melt down of the cores before heat could even be transfered, the best I personally have seen done with a commerical CPU is 7Ghz stable, 25Ghz just doesnt sound right, unless they invented something that doesnt use Silicon transistors, hmm lol?
@killacam876 ifyou read and understood my comment I said 25Ghz was a load of crap in which someone earlier claimed to have seen it at a University. And Yes AMD do set the world record for highest clock, but Intel has about 20 - 30% more IPC 'Instructions per Clock" Which means in effect, they generate the same TDP as AMD cpu's however do more at a lower clockrate, AMD are going fro raw power intel are going for efficiency. The Bulldozer is a dissapointment on what a lot were expecting.
@ncnhomegrown I did read and understand it... I was just confirming it, and yes BD was a disappointment, and I am an Intel user. I was just throwing it out there o.O
to those who are saying they got 5 Ghz with sandy bridge, you are Intel's slaves because they sell you overclocking by unlocking it for a bigger price, soon you will have to pay everytime you encode a video or smthing, AMD save us all!
@PhyOSPhyOS erm well i am curious as to what you are saying no to? No to using nitrogen or the fact that it may or may not boil in the hoses?
Would be really cool to have it in our pc's.
But now that I think about it even the boiling in the hoses part can be overcome with pressure, so if we came up with really thick pressurized and cold resistant cooling hoses we could.
this gives me an idea of using recirculated PURE water...(100 percent pure water will not conduct electricity because of there being no minerals to conduct said electricity ie distilled water) or perhaps freon or R134a refrigerant.
@MrSnowmobiling there both duel core and they both do the same thing i think but all i know is mine is faster then yours X D i mean there just processors nothing special about them
@cristof1357 It is nine years later, but still very amazing, because that it is a quad core. Multicore CPUs usually run hotter than singlecore cpus if they are of the same class. But lga 1155 cpus uses far less voltage than the socket 478 pentium 4 that the video was using
i like how back then they used liquid nitrogen to get a cpu to 5 GHz, but nowadays if you have the right fan, cpu, and mobo you can get to 5.2 GHz easily without any liquid nitrogen
@RCNitroHelp101 so can anyone else..,... but for a very brief time because peeing on it will send a massive surge of electricity through it for a couple seconds.
becuz ther is so much of it all at once it cant vaprize fast enough, though if you want to see something cool, pour L.N. into a pool (or simular large body of water.
so could you even use the extra cpu speed where it is connected to such a slow fsb?
wouldnt you need a faster bus to get the benefit of the extra power?i didnt even think it would be possible to measure it like that with the bus being so much slower
ok so now try it with an I7 or xeon processor, how much do you thing you can get one of those babies up to with technique?
must be cool to like in alaska ,you can overclock your pc and just put a car radiator outside for your cooling system
2 years ago i've seen a motherboard that uses liquid nitrogen to cools down the entire system, you inject the liquid nitrogen under preassure and it remains cold for much time ( don't exactly know how many), i can't remenber the nam but i thinks it has something like "(some code) Extreme OVERCLOCK)", it's appearance is like it has a LOT of tubes runing by the motherboard... and i saw it on the Worten Outlek in Coimbra in Portugal! It's cost was about 600€ (Not sure)...
It's funny to look at this video and think my current system which runs on air and isn't even that much overclocked can destroy this system in benchmarks.
@somerandomutewb The new Sandy bridge chips can do that, just take a look at HwBot.org and see the overclocking results. Many using air cooling at 5GHz, my 2600k runs at 4.7GHz with air cooling so 5GHz must be possible :)
@TheDrunkenMantis Sandy bridge is pretty awesome but i5 760 is a nice CPU to. I upgraded from an old Q6600, so i thought i'd "go all the way" and bought a powerfull sandy bride system. :)
haha that is so true, as i said i run mine at 4.7GHz and with Hyper Threading and i have never hit 100% load on all cores in real life situations, so it has more power then any average user needs ;)
@AlbertMwugabi nitrogen is ok for overclocking but not for long periods of time , beacuse refilling nitrogen can be expensive and it evaporates at a higher rate when the cpu tempacure goes up. Boronhydride and Lithumfuloride
holds it's tempacure longer then nitrogen or helium but it's not as cold or low a tempacure.
@smartface96 *facepalm people who do this dont do it for games, they do it for benchmarking, to c how far they can get........the term "project" should hint that this isnt for everyday use........
@chabi3000 Console fag? I go out and drink 20 pints a night, get into the odd scrap but always end the night with a kebab. I like watchin the footie and makin the missus spread wide. You think i'm actually bothered about consoles and computers?
@NicenEasyuk Then dont fuckin get ony my nerves and stop writing these annoying internet fad phrases in good videos . Ok so you have a LIFE but that doesnt justifies being a jerk. Peace out .
@chabi3000 How does saying that make me a jerk. It's not like i said 'mom i'm going out to kil 21 people bla bla bla'. It would make a good blend video...
@concreatemonkey Better coolant, just really expensive and is from a non-renewable source. Nitrogen, much cheaper, and with consumer electronics, you can only push things so far anyways.
@dean10007 Well in the description it reads "There is not a better CPU cooling system than liquid nitrogen" But i am informing him it is incorrect and Helium is better. Price is not a issue when it comes to breaking the world record.
@jsnprofessor because this cooling system is very dangerous, the i7 is not so expensive as the nitrogen liquid is. And ofcourse the nitrogen liquid could being evaporated
@Topulis91 Not really, Liquid N2 is rather inexpensive compared to Liquid He2, and certainly much less expensive than a multi-hundred dollar CPU. It's just more efficient to have the N2 in a closed system.
@dean10007 I suggest you take your "Less expensive" talk to a closed discussion about home computers. Liquid N2 would NEVER be practical in a home computer and certanily not He. However this is a video about a high Ghz system and in order to reach these high numbers you need a amazing coolant. He is better than N. And you will see in the groundbreaking Ghz records they use He. Read the description before you post you melanchony bullshit.

you can do 5GHZ with a i5-2500K
pdani72 1 year ago
What's the point of the heatsink? It will only heat the Liquid nitrogen...

Now sandy bridge 5 ghz on air no problems :)

The best coolant is liquid Helium you fucking moron.
concreatemonkey 1 year ago
@concreatemonkey Better coolant, just really expensive and is from a non-renewable source. Nitrogen, much cheaper, and with consumer electronics, you can only push things so far anyways.
dean10007 1 year ago
@dean10007 Well in the description it reads "There is not a better CPU cooling system than liquid nitrogen" But i am informing him it is incorrect and Helium is better. Price is not a issue when it comes to breaking the world record.
concreatemonkey 1 year ago
@concreatemonkey I was going to write about the same... =P
zoteman94 1 year ago
So.. the more cool your processor is, the faster it will go?
Wont cooling it to below freezing somehow impair it from working properly?
jstsurreal 1 year ago
@jstsurreal Maybe VERY near 0K that will become a superconductor or something like that but even LH2 can't do that to silicon.

@RCNitroHelp101 Ever heard of 50 MHz? Dumbass.

Liquid Helium pwns Liquid Nitrogen!

This still sends shivers down my spine, even tho I have a i7 860.

@drKlitzman The same with me, its just amazing how high they got it, at that time.

luquid nitrogen works!!!!!but my mother said it was insane ..so i swtiched to water coolingXD
angelcute789 1 year ago
Why do I need i7?
jsnprofessor 1 year ago
@jsnprofessor because this cooling system is very dangerous, the i7 is not so expensive as the nitrogen liquid is. And ofcourse the nitrogen liquid could being evaporated
Topulis91 1 year ago
@Topulis91 Not really, Liquid N2 is rather inexpensive compared to Liquid He2, and certainly much less expensive than a multi-hundred dollar CPU. It's just more efficient to have the N2 in a closed system.
dean10007 1 year ago
@dean10007 I suggest you take your "Less expensive" talk to a closed discussion about home computers. Liquid N2 would NEVER be practical in a home computer and certanily not He. However this is a video about a high Ghz system and in order to reach these high numbers you need a amazing coolant. He is better than N. And you will see in the groundbreaking Ghz records they use He. Read the description before you post you melanchony bullshit.

EXTREME UNDERCLOCKING!
Underclocked to a quarter of a single Hertz!
Watch out, you need to keep a flamethrower ready to heat up the processor.

FPS RATE? 100.000.000? :D

Chuck Norris just stares at the stock CPU cooler until it cools just as hard as this.
