Beast Machines had some good attributes, mainly the ideological concepts and such (along with Jetstorm and Thrust, those guys are awesome).
But still, Beast Wars was better than this. They made the characters look stupid/ugly/weird, and...
Optimus turned into a pacifistic idiot (not because of his views, if you pay attention closely, he does some pretty stupid things). Cheetor turned into a wimp (watch the Fallout episode), Silverbolt grew stale, and Megatron became a germophobe.
A lot of people hated Beast Machines and I can understand why. Still though, it wasn't awful. I thought the the plot and the dark settings were really well done. If it was a show with a new set of characters, then it'd be pretty good. The only problem is that it continues the Beast Wars story and takes a complete 180 degree turn. They changed the characters' personas, which is understandable, but they changed them just to fit the plot. Rattrap is an example. They made him weak when he was not.
hated this series but as a transformers fanatic,i seen every season and episode. imagine my disbelief as i found out that optimus had became a hippie. i cried when they took the series in this direction. absolute shit. 4 out 10

is it just me or does this show seem to be meant for a 16:9 aspect ratio? Even as a kid, I thought the opening scene - especially from the Cybertron planet - the planet seems like a squeezed circle.

Well said, this is a brilliant series, the first Transformers show which is aimed at an older audience. There are so many great episodes in this series, and storyarc regading the techno-organic isn't that bad.

the main reason imo why people hate beast machines is that isnt action-packed like in beast wars and had philosophical measures bout the uses and abuses of technology. if the last one was out of this (and cuz its a transformers, where i dont remember any philosophical matters) i believe that it could be good series not better than beast wars still a good installation at the transformers franchise (even hasbro admmited that it wasnt good series)
beast machines is sequel to beast wars. in bm, the maximals go back to cybertron only to find it occupied by sparkless robots the vehicons. primal cheetor rattrap and blackarachnia who are shown here are infected by a virus that makes them not transform. the oracle the one who made the 1st transformers reformat them in new forms. they find that megatron of predacons is behind the vehicons. the maximals dont transform anymore like in bw. they have to concetrate to transform.
I love Beast Wars and I kind of like Beast Machines. I only problem I had with it was that all the Maximals who make it back from the Beast Wars are out of character.

@Culexis, Megatron broke free of the ship and exited time space at that time. He probably exited YEARS before the Maximals returned to Cybertron so that is how he created the virus and captured the sparks.
Beast Wars was pretty cool; but I had one problem with it really - Why did they make Optimus Prime a Gorilla!!!!!??? and Megatron got to be the T-rex, that was cool ... but Optimus Prime an f'ing Monkey?!!!!

the main reason imo why people hate beast machines is that isnt action-packed like in beast wars and had philosophical measures bout the uses and abuses of technology. if the last one was out of this (and cuz its a transformers, where i dont remember any philosophical matters) i believe that it could be good series not better than beast wars still a good installation at the transformers franchise (even hasbro admmited that it wasnt good series)

beast machines is sequel to beast wars. in bm, the maximals go back to cybertron only to find it occupied by sparkless robots the vehicons. primal cheetor rattrap and blackarachnia who are shown here are infected by a virus that makes them not transform. the oracle the one who made the 1st transformers reformat them in new forms. they find that megatron of predacons is behind the vehicons. the maximals dont transform anymore like in bw. they have to concetrate to transform.

I love Beast Wars and I kind of like Beast Machines. I only problem I had with it was that all the Maximals who make it back from the Beast Wars are out of character.

@Culexis, Megatron broke free of the ship and exited time space at that time. He probably exited YEARS before the Maximals returned to Cybertron so that is how he created the virus and captured the sparks.

but then on their way back
they discovered that megatron didnt die or something like that
and something bad happened and their sparks got crazy
and most people lost their memories like the rhino guy
and the bird wolf dude
and they ended up being decepticons in this series

Man this was my favorite show for like 1 season. I don't know why they didn't continue the storyline. As I remember they were searching through the innards of the planet, and it seemed really cool.
