It's honestly hard to not feel a great deal of respect for Britain. Despite what skeletons they have in their closet, they were still the dominant naval power for most of modern history (hence, "Britannia rules the waves"), made attempts to pave the way in government, gave America most of our naval traditions and slang, and, well, establishing a global empire is impressive, no matter how you slice it.

I spoke to a German and he confirmed Hitler wanted a war and used the Treaty of Versailles as a scape goat to start it. Seriously why else would Hitler invade Poland, he called Britains bluff and got his ass kicked for it.
