  • my rudders get stuck down and to lift them you must push the plunger down with a tiny screwdriver. Do you have any suggestions to fix this? even when lubricated it doesn't seem to help.

  • Great vid Jeremy! Thanks for the help!

  • What did you use for a new tensioner screw after you re-threaded the hole?

  • The stock Hobie screw. We basically just cleaned up the threads.

  • Thanks! Our team just made this repair and it would have been much easier if we'd seen this video first!

Our entire rudder assembly is very loose... is there anyway to make the whole system a bit tighter, without over-tightening the bolts attaching the castings to the rudder? We can't easily "kick-up" the rudders by hand when the bolts are tight.

    Thanks!

  • No worries! Thanks for the compliment.

To tighten your rudders up in the casting, go to the hardware store and buy some nylon washers, the bigger the better, and stick them in between the casting and the rudder. Don't overtighten the bolt, it may crack the casting. Hope that helps!
