this is so sad to me...if it were not for growing up as a little boy in the 70s and having to do dance recitals (cos my mom made me) i may have not ever had got the groove in me and was moved to turn to bass...I listen to chic and all they did and i am so greatful im a bass player..everything bernard and nile touched was amazing..i wish he was still with us..he changed so many peopl'e lives..mine included.
Next to Tyra Banks and Beyonce and Beverly Johnson, Jessica Wagner that backup singer is one of the most beautiful African Women I have ever seen. Plus she has a rack!
Thanks! Trying to start a Youtube petition to get Sharay Reed and/or KnightMayorz to post their bass lines to this classic as a long overdue tribute to the genius that is Bernard Edwards.
you MUST go out and buy and read Nile's autobiography, called Le Freak. You are watching this - so buy the book - it's revelatory. what a story, what a guy - what music. the path. DHM, right Nile? Deep Hidden Meaning...RIP Nard - you are dearly missed, even by those who never knew you.
i glad i came across this footage because the first song i ever played on base guitarand keyboards was '' i want your love'' by chic and the base line still gets me to this day along with nile rodgers guitar syncopation on the track, incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should be mentioned in the same breaths as Larry , James, Louis, Stanley, Marcus, and Jaco. None of those names had their bassline copied as much as Bernards "Good Times"! Thats a fact!
@dayesonny You are so very right ! I've been playing bass for 30 years and there was not one Chic song that I did not cut my bass teeth on. He is so unmentioned in Bass Player magazine and bass players including myself forget to give him his props. Well because of your comment I'll always bring him up in my converstions with other bass players from now on when we're talkin great bass players. That's a fact!
