  • I could go for a quickie...

  • Maybe a longer run way....

  • what do you need to do to a car engine to make it suitable for flight? oil and gas pressure would be the main problem right?

  • Subaru power? Is that from the flat 4 EJ20 engine? Same as in my impreza???

  • @JohnnyvolvoT5 EJ22 like in Legacy

  • @docrw your legacy does not have heaters for the fuel so probably not exactly the same.

  • I don't understand the need for a negative dihedral on the wings?

  • need to use v tail helps straight well, and short wheels.

  • Heads up Wedge, Ties at 6 o'clock!

  • Did you build? or buy? cause I love fiberglass, well except the itching !

  • come in on a hot landing and break a wing off.....that would suck hahaha

  • do you need a licence to flu one also how much are they

  • holy crap. that thing would scare the crap out of me to land. I love the aircraft, however it looks very hard to take off and land with.

  • @iostream999 Take offs are easy, really. But landings you have to be paying attention and be on your game.

  • @docrw Hi email me, with more information,, Eurolink group, thx A

  • @docrw Don't you have to fly the quickie onto the ground practically? There was a guy that got himself a Quickie here at my field of KROS and he botched the landing so incredibly hard. He flared way too high, stalled, snapped one of the forward canards, veered off to the side and only came to a stop when he finally took out about 6 runway lights.

  • @AmericanAviator Don't know who that was. But the landings aren't for the timid. See the video to the right "plane crash hwy which is what happened to one of mine after an engine quit.

  • It looks a lot more stable on the ground than I would have thought.

  • two wings is worst than one, isn´t it?? more drag... and the landing gear in my opinion is weaker....

  • The wing acts as the strut? Not a very forgiving design now is it?

  • That is a neat plane!

  • Is this LSA Compliant?

  • my driveway is longer than that runway. I like the quickie tho. Was one in Peterborough Ontario Canada that had some wing tip damage. I was going to inquire about it but left it to late. A guy bought it for a few dollars and cut it up for a "plane" swing for his kids. I darn near cried

  • Perspective......

That is 4,300 foot runway. A bit longer than your typical driveway.

  • In the beginning you can see how the wide track on the main gear makes for challenging handling on takeoff run. Very impressive video here and article in CONTACT! magazine on this airplane, which is quite an impressive achievement.

  • Publisher of CONTACT owns a Quickie and a Dragonfly, he's quite versed with these planes.

  • Does the landing gear retract?

  • no...the landing gear doesnt retract

  • No it's just on the end of the canard.

  • no. the wheels are fixed to the droops on the wing tips

  • Nice flying there! But it looked alarmingly underpowered on the climbout...EEK!!

  • What a landing!

  • Looks like an X-Wing fighter.

    "Use the force, Luke."

  • flys like one to.

  • @freakybuzz that's what burt rutan had in mind.

  • very cool video and I like the sound effects. We have one of these planes at our airport and it's fast...

  • It's powered by a Subaru 2.2 and faster then a Legacy wagon....

  • heh imagine that with the 22b's engine. or a new ej25 turbo. haha

  • Yeah, except those engines are heavier. Also in airplanes you can't put out a ton of power because it's not like a car when you're only on it for a few seconds. I did have a friend who had a old 70's civic turbo'ed in his and it was cool and did over 230 mph, in a BD-5
