  • Beautiful, I like it. Slower works for the song...it really saunters, which reflects the mood and the melody.

  • Schön, danke

  • I really like it.

  • i think you made an excelent interpretation, i love it slower than the original, because seems like never ends :)

n dont worry for the bad coments, envious people are everywhere ;)

  • Beautifully done. Very nice. I love this piece.

  • opinions. opinions. mine?......i really enjoyed your performance.

  • Very beautiful. The way you played it sound so calm like snow. Other people play it like poise rain. Either is great but snow is what I prefer. Great job.

  • ~~~sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet~~~

  • This is fantastic, I think you capture the mood of the piece brilliantly. Do you have a score of this? Or did you work it out by ear?

  • *slow clap* 14 people are extremely jealous.

Felicidades!

  • just a tip. i want to learn how to use the pedal effectively in this song. can anyone help be by telling me when to let go of the pedal?

  • maravilloso

  • Excuse SimonSpieltKlavier but when playing the D major triad and G major triad, are you using the sustain pedal?

  • One of the most beautiful aspects of this piece is that it provides an astonishing mirror for the individual interpreting it. This in fact is a defining characteristic of all the great classics. It is amazing that we have forgotten how to appreciate this.

There is no "correct" way to interpret a piece. There is no "proper" way to play it. There is only the intention: to explore the depths of the piece. With this in place, all interpretations are equally precious.

  • and i couldn't really sit through it much past 45 seconds... sry! It just wasn't played all that well...

  • I think the interpretation was fine!!!!! BUT on the first four bars you held the right hand notes to long i counted and at the tempo you were going you held the right hand 3 beats not two... But I thought over all it was semi good.. I've definatly heard better... but it was GREAT... Just some pointers to think about

  • I think its lovely!

  • Finally someone who plays this slowly. Thank you!

  • This is just what i was looking for! Ty! =)

  • Well played :-)

  • Hi ! a new remix of Erik Satie Gymnopedie No1 to discover on the Direct2Dreams YouTube Page :-)) (Tape Direct2Dreams on YouTube to discover it !)

  • this is marvelous this is what i need , helps me so much , i cannot describe.remarkable piece of work,

  • not a very steady tempo. but it still sounds very good

  • Schön gespielt :) Meine Interprtation wäre allerdings ein bisschen schneller :)

  • Ist es nicht ein bisschen zu langsam gespielt ?

  • got intense probs with the left hand change

  • A little toooo expressive played for my taste...

  • A performance that truly deserves respect & time of inner personal reflection.Nothing but the finest perfomance?.A clean & quintisential patient methodical time to say thank you to Mr. Erik Satie , who composed this lovely classical song.

  • Very nice. Well played.

  • Truly beautiful the way you played the music made me feel like im floating on clouds ^_^

  • I really like your intepretation, and the tempo was really good at first but you did accelerate sometimes and that wasn't so nice.

  • you have to look the tempo, very slow! It looks like you were learning the song. But nice!!

  • too slow for my taste. A few times I thought you were done with the piece and then you continue, as if you lost your place.

    Peace

  • That is one hell of a piano man, nice playing too

  • Wow, a lot of dorky music majors giving their two cents on how this song should be played below. "Too Slow" yada yada yada. I prefer this song with a slower tempo actually and I enjoy this cover. Good Job!

  • hey guys

    this song is beautiful

    i made a mashup

of this song, wiz khalifa, and nujabes

please check out my channel and enjoy!

  • Grazie!!!

  • i play this song too, you should work on dynamics and specially on how evenly the Chords should be played.

you did good. I give you a Two

  • simplemente perfecto, (justly perfect)

  • ur an airhead serfox

  • Wow, such heated debate. Well, all I know is, is that it was a great interpretation and I enjoyed it. Thank you for making the video. This is one of my favourite piano pieces.

  • great job!

I agree with you about interpretation. it's like...well, you played the right notes, and it's in 3. after that, it pretty much up to you =)

  • You brought this song to be a lot more calming, but also quite lively, which is quite different from what the other ones sound like. I love how you played this, it has a melancholic feel to it, but it's not entirely sad. Beautiful.

  • Amazing...... Simply..Amazing...

  • this is quite possibly my favorite piece of music. so haunting, so beautiful and so emotionally charged that i can never listen to it without getting teary-eyed as the first notes are played. i am so thankful that you posted this and thankful to erik satie for his genius and for writing this piece of music. BRAVO!!

  • E' l'unico -secondo me - che lo esegue "lento e doloroso". Ottimo. Una melodia che non t'abbandona più.

  • hermoso...

  • Played with great sensitivity. Aldo Ciccolini is the master when it comes to Satie, of course, but I found this very stirring and surprising in its insight.

  • beautiful! congratulations.. I loved it... and I can see you love it too <3 :) fascinating :)

  • faltaron los aplausos para ti,amigo mio...

    felicidades

  • wonderschön mein freund! you executed this piece beautifully. it's my favorite song of all time ^___^

  • I love Margot for ever !

  • ='(

  • I'm never appeased when it comes to this melody, furthemore, you are truly gifted... Ciao!

  • The pedal went a bit hoo haa at first, but your version is simply touching!

  • Muy bonito.

  • **** HAPPY BIRTHDAY Satie ******

  • Thanks for playing this great melody and you play it very well!!

I use the melody as a ringtone, but not so nice played, I'm afraid...

  • What kind of piano is this?

  • Brilliant interpretation of my favorite melody by Erik Satie. Thank you for sharing your talent with us...

  • you have a nice touch!

  • Toll!

    Ich bin beeindruckt.

  • WOW!!! I can only play the first 2 linre! THat wuz awsome!

  • the feeling goes through to the end. the pace is excellent. mmmmm. delicious.

  • omg...it's soo beautiful...very relaxing..i am planning on playing it..too...

    good WORK!!!!!

    AWESOME PLAYING!!!

  • Gute Arbeit. Ich finde es wirklich sehr leidenschaftlich wie du die Tasten in manchen Fällen fast nur streichelst. :D 5*

    mfG

  • I love this!!! Sehr gut! Sie Konnen gut Klavier!

  • My favourite part of the e-drama below this comment is when serfox proved he was all talk by not recording a response to this wonderful version of a wonderful piece of music.

Keep up the good work SimonSpieltKlavier

  • Congratulations, I enjoyed your excelent interpretation. Thanks for it. I'am a beginer pianist so, if you want, you can watch my interpetations (very amateur).

  • Thanky you for posting. Lovely job on this piece. Very, very good job. I like your interpretation. It is soothing. I can unwind to it. Serfox, this is his own take on this piece, and you have to admit that is is soulful and beautiful. One again, good job, keep up your excellent work.

  • this is one of my most favorite piano pieces of all time. kudos to you for playin it man!

  • I love this piece. I think there was nothing wrong with your interpretation. Serfox, there is such a thing as constructive criticism, no need to be so heavy on how he wants to play it. I thought it was great.

  • thank you ;) i really love positive comments ;)

  • @SimonSpieltKlavier Actually im going to have to agree with serfox1. interpretations arent necessarily up to the player to deside. especially for most classical pieces, such as this one. the composer wrote it to be played a certain styal and so on, so thus it would be in the least respectful *i use that loosly* to at least note that while playing. i did enjoy your way of playing it but do not slight fox's words cause he does have some points. not all self imterpretation is correct

  • @MattCoop13 Thats why its called the PIANO-FORTE! (Soft-Loud)

It can be played softly or loudly to express thoughts feelings of the one playing it.

So its the genius idea of a instrument to show emotion....

Either way...Its still the same but with a different feeling to it...

    So I totally agree!

  • I thought his interpretation was very nice - played the guitar very well.

  • It may be your imterpretation but I really did not enjoy this performance. You were far too heavy on your dynamics, you didn't keep steadyb tempo, you played the melody far too fast. What I love about this piece is the harmonies that occur if you let it swell, but you should release the pedal occasionally, always keep the listener on their toes, longong for the nexct chord. I didn't feel that, there was no colour.

  • oh yes. this is my own interpretation.

you can't say it's wrong because each interpretation is right on its own.

i like the piece how i played it, and i feel sorry for those who don't do.

  • I believe you have the completely wrong attitude to that, that is very ignorant. For one: An interpretation is your own personal feeling on a written piece, and you haven't got the right to pity those who don't like your interpretation.Secondly, I did not say it was wrong, I said I didn't enjoy it. There is a difference. Open up to new ideas for a change and admit some people might differ in taste to you. You are not the be all and end all of pianists, so save your pity for those who need it.

  • let me see and listen to your interpretation. maybe then i can "open up to new ideas".

  • Alright. I'll record it in the next few days when I'm not busy.

  • @serfox1 So.... About that video?

  • @MaxxTheHero I know right :P three years later and still no video.

  • @SimonSpieltKlavier God damn man, you ever heard of a thing called constructive criticism? serfox1 just gave you quite a bit of it, and he did it well. You've got to humble up, my friend for you are far too proud.

  • @serfox1 you probably can't even play the piano.

  • @simonbillywong My higher national certificate in music performance and degree in music production and technology says your wrong, I'm afraid...

  • @serfox1 stop thinking you are a know it all.

  • @serfox1 Stop arguing over the internet, you're just an idiot for getting that annoyed over something as trivial as an interpretation of a piece of music.

  • @TheCrazyAchmed NO U!

  • @serfox1 come on man, you can't be serious. what a troll. let the person play.

  • @serfox1 You're a sweaty fat Scottish guy with a beard and bad hair, I don't think he gives a damn about what you think. Just saying.

  • @serfox1 Serfox do you fish through the channels looking for artists and artwork to offer superior advise to? Surely there are better ways to spend our time such as appreciating one another for hard work and vision....

  • @msmel141 The best way for any person in any role to grow is to accept feedback, be it good or bad. Our own brains are terrible judges of our own ability.

  • @serfox1 I like how you're criticizing him for playing it his own way, then you say "open up to new ideas!" which is the reason for an interpretation. Why are you also trying to tell him that people have different tastes than him? Of course people do; that's was point. Something YOU don't seem to get in telling us how you dislike this video. Got nothing nice to say? Don't say it. Get off your high horse, ya pompous ass.

  • @serfox1 lets play it at 1 beat per minute shall we?

  • Is it hard to learn?

  • Mathematics is the science of infinity with one ultimate foundation & ultimate meaning.

  • Watch your tempo. At some parts, especially at the beginning, it's not always in 3/4.

  • it's my own interpretation ;) xP

  • Okay! Fair enough!!

  • Your playing is very soft, and I'm talking about your hand movements. Ver smooth. I like it. Nice piano too. Who's the maker?

  • d'you mean the maker of the piano or the composer of the piece?

the piano is built bei bechstein and the composer of this piece is erik satie ;)

  • Hi. I'm learning to play the piano. This will be my first song ever. I have to learn to play it in less than 3 months and I can't even play with both hands. Do you think I can make it? :P thanks heh

  • this piece isn't that hard... i learned it in about 2hours... but i'm already playing the piano for a few years. you can make it, if you practise each day.. just play it very very slow and you'll make it

  • before i knew anything of satie me and my friends would go down to the woods for a few smokes, one of us had this as a ring tone in there phone so we would sit there for about an hour not saying anything...mungged of our faces..just listening to it on repeat.even in a cheap polyphonic form this song is hauntingly beuitiful!

    they were good/weird times lol

    good work bud! 5/5

  • I am mostly an organist but I have all 3 of the Gymnopedies piano scores, and enjoy playing them from time to time. Your interpretation is a bit slow, but very good.

  • thank you...

but i don't think, it's too slow. the recommended tempo is about 66 ;)

  • Definately one of nicests songs mankind has created. This melody touches emotions and feelings.Maybe that is why its so often used in soundtracks, mood music ...even in commercials! Sadness, regret, longing and acceptance are feelings I generally associate with this song.

    Thanks for posting!

  • amazing. this is one of my favorite pieces ever. nice work for real!
