You elect a president with a lot of enthusiasm and strength to tackle the problems on hand, then the opposition is blocking everything the president wants to do, and later everybody blames the president for not having changed anything. When the presidential candidate's prime order of business is to revert everything the previous president did, your country is really screwed.

The Mythbusters got this episode's myths from the fansite and arranged a "president's challenge" theme to boost ratings. Obama's staff agreed to have the president host the episode b/c it provided an opportunity for a "Miss America" speech about education that could potentially boost public opinion. No politician (not even one I support) should take advantage of a TV show for political gain.

@marshknute I don't think it was entirely for political gain. Mythbusters is the most popular science-themed TV show in the world and it sparks an interest for science in a lot of kids. A lot of college students in the natural sciences have grown up with it. So I think it's fine that Obama gives his presidential stamp of approval to the Mythbusters and supports them.
