Wow,thisis sooo good, although I can understand why at the time ( a time of Beggars Banquet ) this went nowhere, As usual, Dave was ahead of his time.
@aliers94panther I know what you mean I've been in love with the man since I was 12, the years before that I was always scared of his Labyrinth character. It was the eyebrows than I grew to love them lol.
One of David's good early efforts. One gets the impression of a strong Mick Jagger influence in this video presentation. Not quite himself yet, still a little awkaward in his presentation that he would later refine (like any adolescent trying to prove himself). But the song is both tender and suggestive with a dose of hormonal promise. Proving sexual awareness seems so important at that age. It remains a universal rite of passage. It has its place in every young man's persona. He was growing up.
Bless him....the dearest man! The funny thing is, he was very young (but not SO young) when this was shot, but all his moves are exactly the same today! He's been on an awful long journey since this, but deep down he's the same fella doing his best. And his best is the best of all.
I love the goofy, sweet young David, but as he got older, he just got sexier and sexier. He's like 64 now? Yet he still manages to make me melt where I stand.
He looks like a young Mick Jagger. I love his first album, I don't know why he's ashamed of it, although I could understand feeling let down by its commercial failure, seeing as it was released on the same day as Sgt. Pepper's. But it's still a musical snapshot of who he was at the time that he made it and an important in his evolution, so he should still acknowledge it.
@mooneepondskid - Not as embarrassed as he was by 1987's 'Never Let Me Down'. He actually tried to have it deleted from EMI's release of his back catalogue.
What a gem !! I can not believe he had all those moves and facial expressions down so early ! This video had to be recorded between Hunky Dory and Ziggy. This song was recorded in 1967 and Bowie was NOT that man in 1967. Imagine that ;P
mr perry i think it was on the album images from around 67 68 i got this on lp called the world of david bowie which came out in 72 when decca released it trying to cash in on bowies new found fame as ziggy but there are loads of new comp cds out if u cvan get images buy it every song is amazing on it

hehehe! I can't help but giggle when I watch this video he looks so ridiculous when he dances with guitar ahhh well mr Bowie good to get it out of your system <3
You could be right. When he wrote the 'Low' album, he was at his lowest ebb in life. Since that time, he's moved on and, after seeing him in concert only last year, seems like he's as happy as anybody could ever be.
I remember listening an old interview where he said he wasn't sure to record this song because his mother thought the lyrics were kind of dirty or something like that...different times back then :)
I also prefer what he did later but he's really cute in the early videos,so young and talented.
And he's not playing a character yet...pure David Robert Jones...genius.
Excelent song !! His voice sounds great on this, he sings well, the lyricism is superb, and musicaly I like the combination of the violins and guitar.
As for the VIDEO,.. ehhh, not so amazing ( from a current perspective anyway ). He'd made much better, more artistic and ground-breaking videos LATER ON .
Still, this may've been kinda cool and ground-breaking in it's own time. After all, there weren't many musical performers who were making videos in the 60's ( long before it caught on and became this big popular revolution ), so he was probably one of the very few, at that time, making any at all,.. which goes to demonstrate hat he was something of a pioneer even THEN.
I surely love all of Bowie's earlier music, but am surprised that he was so cornball to appropriate such cheezoid Elvis moves during this stage. Be that as it may, I dig the song ... he was consistently brilliant-
I have seen David Bowie live many times. Those are his hip shakes, he still does a variation of the same moves...they are not Elvis moves. Maybe he was influenced by the King, but Bowie's moves are his own...

oh wow Bowie, your dancing could sure use some work. I'm really glad he moved out of this weird pop phase and started stuff like the man who sold the world and hunky dory.
Every female (and those not) will so understand this comment.....'I'd jump 200 Brad Pitt clones to tap that'...sigh....David, this is all too much for me to keep my thoughts to myself...Bowie Lovers, unite
@MrJFlashify LOL I certainly agree!! Brad Pitt ain't bad though, he's just no David Bowie imo~~~~sweet, sweet David!! Good to see you here..was wondering where you'd been!!
@botbagel Haha I'm Bowietic, there's a force that always drags me back this way (to this video more specifically) I like this retro look he has here:)
He's adorable. I don't care what anyone says about his dancing, I personally like it. He looks like he's having fun and I find it entertaining. Also it's better than him being stock-still, at least by dancing he keeps your attention. Also the ending is fantastic.
T'was the 60s for crying out load, in those days they thought women would be confined to homes after they were married.I wouldn't say it suggested you're a woman cook me dinner, have my babies. He's saying were grown up... you can act like it for real, we can have sex.
Sometimes wish the world was like the sixties, kids were kids, teenaged pregnacy was frowned upon, at least one parent stayed at home and raised the kid so they wouldn't have anit-social problems, or play on the street at night.
Nice tune, but I don't think he'll be more than a flash-in-the-pan.

oh wow Bowie, your dancing could sure use some work. I'm really glad he moved out of this weird pop phase and started stuff like the man who sold the world and hunky dory.
