  • Why is Beyonce's version so different?

  • @CrownJewel32 Because the movie wrote it differently for the movie. alot of the play and movie is different

  • how powerful!!

  • Can someone tell me what did she sing on the verse " I'm not as strong as you. Oh please I need you,....." seems like the name of the friend. And this verse too "I can't do it alone. I need you to help me be strong" So..... please"

    Thanks in advance

  • Beautiful.

  • I always though Beyonce screamed her way through that song . These girls do a much better job.

  • WOW i love it

  • God, I wish I could sing like this... Maybe I wouldn't be embarrassed to sing in front of people. :3

  • I cried during this. Not gonna lie. It's so beautiful. XD

  • OMFG BEYONCE WHO?

  • BEAUTIFUL IS ALL I CAN SAY

  • This is good but I have to say that the movie version just seems more powerful to me at least.

  • Curious. Strong and loud, but missing something.

  • beautiful ladies! Keep up the good work!

  • WOW, they "Knocked it out of the park," fantastic.

  • anyone know where i can download this version? video of mp3 does not matter

  • syesha was on american idol!

  • "You pick yourself up and you LEAVE that man!!!" that was awesome!!!

  • This just brought me to tears ! Oh God so amazing!

  • @MegaLadybee - ditto! ditto, ditto, ditto! lol

  • very nice

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • I saw this show when it came to baltimore!! It was really good <3

  • Syesha Mercado from American Idol!!!!!!

  • YES! YES! YES!

  • OMG #KILLEDIT

  • this was beautiful!

  • does anyone remember syesha on american idol? i soo wanted her to win.

  • i love this version. while i liked beyonce's rendition in the movie, this version is just a much better vehicle for moving along the story and resolving the relationship between effie and deena. i also just think these ladies killed it.

  • @ferosha99

Well said ferosha99. Glad to see Syesha perfoming again - and in top form. I thought she should have placed higher on American Idol, but the fix was apparently in. Anyway, I really enjoyed this clip. Both ladies really turned it out!

  • I loved it.

  • so emotional!!!

    I want to see it!!!!!!!

  • its like a soul version of "For Good"

  • oh, my GOD

  • I LOVE THIS VERSION!!

  • OMG! I have never heard this verson of the song. It is wonderful and the singing was heartfelt and beautiful. I can not wait for Dreamgirls to make it to my hometown.

  • I like this arrangement.

  • since when this happen?!!!!!!

  • i saw them today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just saw this last night and it was amazing!! everyone has sooo much talent and it left me speechless :D

  • i like how that white bitch goes "that song gets to me everytime..." yet the version of them two singing it is BRAND new and its not like the bitch heard it for months and EVERY TIME she cries....it has a different meaning in the movie than it does the new musical version ha

  • @percyrusty 'That white bitch', as you so charmingly put it, just may have seen this version performed on stage by this cast... and even in morning television shows there are rehearsals or soundchecks for musical items... perhaps she witnessed one of those. OK, maybe her interjection was a little gushy (like we haven't seen that on tv before) but why the aggression?

  • @scottishphotographer ....even if they did ONE SOUND CHECK...."gets me everytime indicates more than one PREVIOUSLY" but ha didn't mean to come off the way u think i did....i was just giggling about it actually :D don't take youtube comments too seriously, i've done like 8 webseries over the last 2 years and never look into comments too much ha

  • @percyrusty The female host you referred to was probably referring to Beyonce's film version of this song. She mentioned the song earlier in the show's broadcast, but her comment was edited out of this clip.

That being said, I agree with percrusty - the "white bitch" comment was a really mean thing to say.

  • the only reason i prefer the beyonce version is because in the movie the song was her standin up to her controling lover which in my opinion symbolized female impowerment.....being able 2 say ur gonna listen 2 me whether u like it or not

  • wasnt this song meant especially for the movie version of the play? it wasnt in the original....just saying

  • I saw the show the other day and this song was definitely one of the highlights. The 2 leads just tear this song apart. I actually got really choked up. Beautiful!

  • Absolutely unbelievable!

  • Wowww they added listen to the musical which is funny cuz I wondered if they would...I need to see it live to see where it goes and how it fits hmmz...great job tho ladies they changed all the words which was smart cause then they dont have to pay for it lol

  • Ugh they changed the lyrics!

  • @cortez0120

    Changed them from what?

Remember the Dreamgirls musical came out in 1982.

If you're thinking of the Beyonce version ~ that was rewritten for the film in 2006 !

  • @bootsamou No sir Listen was written specifically for the Dreamgirls Movie in 2006 by by Henry Krieger, Scott Cutler, Anne Preven, and Knowles. It was not originally included in the musical. Therefore it was changed. It is one of the four original compositions that was written for the movie along with Patience, Love you I Do, and When I First Saw You.

  • @cortez0120

Of course u are right. Sorry.

But I like this scenario & version better than that in the film.

Dunno why it never ever came to London. Even with the film, it STILL isn't comin over.

  • thats what i call a voice

  • yes! im seeing this in San Francisco! Time for Wicked to leave.

  • this is going to be crazy though

  • i personally like it better as a solo but both of these women are fierce so i definitely like it

  • if this didn't make a few hundred people get up and order tickets to go and see this in the theatre, i don't know what would

  • AAHH THIS IS INCREDIBLLEEE!!!

  • And this is what I call singing.

  • That Was Amazing!!!!

    Wonderful Voices

  • I don't care what people say or think.. but this song is amazing... SO much emotion in it... and i'm glad that they reprised the song from the movie and put it in the show...

  • I've seen DG well over 100 times, six in the recent Dallas stop. Thanks!, CBS, for a chance to savor the one song I didn't know the lyrics to. What keeps me going back? Great music touches the heart. Give it a chance to touch yours. 'Sides, you're likely to see me there ........
