Were you the voice manipulator for this ? 'Cause Miku's English in this is amazing. Personally I like hearing Miku sing in Japanese, but hearing her sing well-arranged, clear English is good too.
(Unlike the English she was singing for AX2011's Worlds End Dancehall, where I couldn't understand anything.)
@alcexhimvideo Yes, the voice is all my work. My copy of Miku was borrowed from friends, and I think I can make her sing better English than they can make her sing Japanese. Makes me feel kind of like a ripoff, but I WILL find some way to buy the English voicebank myself when it finally comes out.
I think the best use I've made of Miku so far is with my two originals (this one and "Singin' For You") rather than all the cover songs I did for practice.
I've done a cover of "Dancing Queen" in English using Japanese Miku, but I never posted it in case of possible copyright violations (don't want ABBA suing my behind off). I played it for a few friends and the general consensus was that they couldn't understand what she was saying.
I'll go check out the two originals as well. Who knows, you might be the first non-Japanese producer to be officially recognized! (Unless I beat you to it. LOL jk)
@alcexhimvideo Well, DoofusP was the first American P to get well-known, but he ended up taking down everything he's ever done. God knows why. His Japanese fans were devastated.
And the name ArizonaP was picked for me in the proper fashion, by someone else... I asked my wife & friends what I should call myself and they immediately settled on "Arizona".

I thought the "proper fashion" was the viewers on the video sharing sites dubbed your P-name. lol but I guess that works too.
I'm not really THAT worried about copyright, but I would like to make some original stuff to post rather than simply posting covers. :P

The reason Miku is portrayed so differently is because...she has no official character. Miku is just a picture and a voice. Everything about her other than that, and sometimes even that much, is decided by the people who use her.
I do like the song though, even though I see no reason to be upset over the endorsement.
People are making such a big deal about this it's laughable.
Can't you people just leave this alone? This is just one of the many versions of Miku that people envision when creating her. Don't you think it's a little rude to go stomping on their hard work?
I happen to think this Miku looks fine and actually like that she is being endorsed.
It's good to see America experience a bit of the Miku fever.
I am not hating on this video but don't famous real life people endorse things? Why is that people complain that Toyota, a Japanese company, uses Miku as a celebrity endorser? I don't understand the complaint here, as I have not seen the behind the scenes things that have happened so I really can't say.
omg shouldnt you be happy miku is becoing more known around the world i sure am the more popular miku gets the more merch i can find in the u.s.a so why bash and btw i thought she looked really good in the commercials.

Alright this is something you people need to realize.
If Miku is to be SUCCESSFUL in AMERICA, they will need to advertise her to AMERICANS. Meaning changes, meaning difference in tastes, personality, cultural references, even designs-- the goal here is to appeal to the majority of America, not already-Miku fans who LIVE in America. Therefore they will make DIFFERENT CHOICES for advertising in a DIFFERENT COUNTRY.
Also, Miku was designed /TO BE SOLD/ and if you think otherwise you're an idiot.
I think this should enlighten things: Miku Hatsune has very few "official" characteristics (age, hairstyle, height, vital stats, and voice range), and practically everything else about her is FAN INITIATED. Even her association with the leek actually came about from a fan made video (which itself was in fact a parody of the Loituma Girl video that featured Orihime from Bleach, so it's sort of a "stolen" idea). Heck look at all the Miku fanart out there (I've even seen a *fat* Miku fanart!).
and you are normal people but i have seen a lot of you "normal" people making things more bizarre and stupid for nothing and say nothing when I talk about things like the artists of today, only because many are content with what they have and have no goal in life to think beyond the boundaries impose by themselves,
anyway my point is this,if you do not know enough about a subject, dont do any comment because you only look stupid by doing that, not only in this but anything in life ,siple as that
miku is not supposed to be sold because she is the reprecentation of people's feelings just how is supost to be in the music to be more clear remember the good band like metalica, guns and roses, aeroamith and many more and compare with today's music and you will say if i'm right or not and finally
3.- if you dont know hatsune miku you can't say if what we say as fans is right or wrong, you say that we are freaks or nerds or whatever
Ok so computer software from a computer software company advertised as 15000 yen with marketing extending into both video games and figurines and toys isn't meant to be sold. Right.
@UTAUxyz I'd give this five thumbs up if I could. Saying Miku's not to be 'sold' is ridiculous.
I've no objection to Miku being sold; what bugs me is merely that the IMAGE of her that the Toyota campaign is building isn't really consistent with the image of Miku that Crypton and the userbase have established. They can sell Miku all they want, I don't mind -- but can they at least sell the Miku we KNOW instead of this hot-dog-obsessed bizarro-world remix of her?
@jakesbrain I'll point this out since it hasn't been brought up: has everyone forgotten that Miku has been connected to cars before? Look up the "Miku GT project". Also, on the hotdog thing: as someone else commented (either on here or elsewhere, I forget) Miku being interested in bacon wrapped hotdogs makes sense. From my own experiences, Japanese are often fascinated with foreign food as much as we're often fascinated with theirs.
continuing with my comment remember godzilla and dragon ball movies, you dont need to be a fan jus to see how bad were those..
2.- it's true that she is not a real person but is more human that many of the artis today, just see any of the most popular artist like justin beiber ironically speaking those are are only empty containers, whores of the music industry with not artistic soul, they do they do what the industry says no real music just marketing,
ok to all the people saying that is not big problem the change that toyota's comercial has made with miku and that if we as fans of hatsune miku want her to be famous world wide she need to change to fit in the new market and she cant be sell because she is not real person let me tell you this so think about it
1.- the united states always do that they take something good that is not theirs and they try to make it look like it was a part of ther own culture no offense here just remember this....
Ok ik you made that up… -_- sounds nothing like miku, and rotors has to ask the creator of hatsune miku for her to be in the commercial. Some people actually like it, and some don't. That's fine, get over it.
Also....didn't a lot of you used to be like "MIKU'LL TAKE OVR THE WORLD!!! XDDDD"? In order for her to be popular completely around the world and for people to worship her, she's gotta get advertised. You guys are already set up for a failure of an argument by that evidence. Just because a Japanese phenomenon got debuted to the USA by a JAPANESE car company, doesn't mean that she'll suddenly explode or something. get over it. She'll never become that popular either.
You know, it doesn't matter if people don't like the commercials. It doesn't matter if Vocaloid is coming to America. Guess what? It's not going to change anything. Miku still sounds the same. You favourite songs still sound the same. People will still make wonderful new songs.
And you know, if Miku were a real 'living' singer, she'd be happy about this beacause IT ADVERTIZES FOR HER. Guys. Guys. Shouldn't you weebs be happy about this? Like that when you talk about Miku people won't think you're as retarded as you are and ACTUALLY know what you're talking about?
and now, all vocalofans in the world are gonna be called hipsters cos' we liked Miku before she was mainstream hahahaha
Calm down weaboos, Miku is an awesome mascot and we love her songs and all, but this....THIS! I liked the commercials, I liked the animation, I liked the poster. Toyota is opening the japanese vocaloid market to America and this people makes stuff like this...seriously guys! GUYS!
After getting back from AX 2011, I have a few new thoughts on this. There is definitely far more good that is coming out of this than bad, and I'd like to thank Toyota for their generous sponsorship to work with Crypton to bring Miku to our country.
Yes, some things are still questionable, but it's not worth bickering over at this point. What's happened has happened.
And this is coming from a long time fan. Lets just let it go guys, sheesh.
@jrharbort I'd give this comment double thumbs up if I could. At this point, I've decided to leave this video up mainly because it keeps getting views from those who are curious... Probably safe to say that it's of historical interest only.
Just FYI -- I keep giving thumbs up to some (not all) of the people who are hating on this video, because they are actually making good points. One thing I'd hoped was to get some decent explanations as to why this commercial might NOT be such a bad idea.
Good to know. I'll keep that in mind for future reference.
By the way, I want to apologize for removing your comment on my vid. I know where you're coming from with your statements, and I completely understand. You gotta keep in mind that thing are different now, and that vid was uploaded during a time before Toyota was confirmed as a sponsor. I'm actually thanking them now more than anything.
I'm also obviously aware she isn't real, since I stated so in my vid. >.>
The people freaking out over this commercial need to realize something. Absolutely nothing about Miku will change because of it. She will be no more mainstream, won't sound or look any different, or anything. The only consequence of this commercial is all the butthurt about it. Miku will never be popular among everyone.
Miku is and never will be real...So why are you guys even getting upset over such a thing? Weren't you guys excited when Miku's music started getting sold on iTunes in America? what happened to that? Did it just, /vanish/? There are too many people in the world who barely know what vocaloid is, so no need to rage and hurt yourself over something that won't be extremely popular out of the anime and manga society, or however you want to label yourself.
I personally think this is good idea. It will get Vocaloid much more popularity. I'm not someone who claims Miku to be "all mine". It will be exciting to see Vocaloid develop over the next few years, and these commercials are only getting them more attention and fans. It will be exciting for the fan base in America to rise but it won't be when some of them go crazy over some characters that will never be real. Now go ahead and call me a faggot just because I have my own opinion.
Wow, all of you need to grow up. 1) Miku is not real, she is a computer generated voice and 2) Toyota is a Japanese car company. America relies on Toyota because JAPANESE imported cars tend to be a lot more of a money saver here in America. Miku doesn't belong to you, 'it' belongs to the company that made the Vocaloid programming and quite frankly, all your childish and weeaboo actions are sickening. Grow up; stop acting like little immature children. Look, I made a point without swearing, omg!!
I just wanna make sure that everyone realizes that toyota is a Japanese company, that they are working with crypton future media, and that they are working with the people who designed the models for the live show at Anime Expo. If it wasn't for Toyota adopting miku as their spokesgirl, they wouldn't have hosted that amazing concert at Anime Expo. The comments on the commercial videos give a bad impression of the vocaloid fandom. Srsly. Support toyota, even if you dislike miku's American design.
@Chasitythefangirl Technically she is anime. She's being animated. That's what anime means. gosh. weebs who don't know the true definition of anything.
It. Is. A. SOFT. WARE. Made by a company to be sold for money. So in a sense, it has always been a sellout. But to the producers, not to Toyota. And more producers means more music. And then they might even discover the other Vocaloids, maybe even the English ones and use them more. Oh, but you probably wouldn't like that either. :/
If I may, I'd like to point out that Miku is not, in fact, a real person. She is singing software. Therefore, she cannot 'sell out'. You guys need to chill with the whole 'Amerika is ruining Miku's kawaii desu image' thing. In case you havent noticed, there ARE producers in the US and England who make great Vocaloid songs. Y'all just fangasm over Miku and say things like 'Engish speaking communities don't deserve Miku' and stuff like that.
Frankly this is all starting to become a little sickening. I dare any one of you to say I'm a hater. Just because I don't worship Miku and I REALIZE SHE ISN'T A REAL PERSON doesn't make me any less of a fan. Honestly. Make up your minds people. Either you want Miku Vocaloid to become well known or you don't. You can't have it both ways. Furthermore, this whole 'Its popular, now it sucks' thing is getting WAY out of hand. Under what circumstances is that true?
@NeonClockwork i'd rather have her being UNKNOWN than a creepy ass looking girl in some god damn CAR commericals. I mean, CARS?! Miku has nothing to DO with CARS. I mean, I also dont WORSHIP Miku or anything, and I know she's not real, but I just don't agree with this idea. They should at least show respect to her fans and make her look as we know she is. Not some skinny...thing....
@makedarkroses - First off, I want to thank you for responding in a polite, non-flaming way. I appreciate that.
I'm more or less upset at the people who are going WAY overboard on this Miku+Toyata thing. And I undertsnd what you mean. A better sponsor could have been chosen, you have a point there. But we're stuck with Toyota until someone more appropriate is chosen.
@makedarkroses Miku has been on over 10 racing cars and was featured by goodsmile racing.
When the fandom got news of this, they rejoiced and got happy.
Now everyone is getting mad because she's in America (THE ONLY REASON THEY'RE MAD TBH BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT MIKU IN AMERICA SHE'S TOO POETIC FOR US) and they're just thinking of things to be mad for
Miku is featured with lots of cars. NOBODY EVER GETS MAD UNTIL THE CARS ARE IN AMERICA.
@SpottedleafCCRVMK I didn't know she was on 10 racing cars...so I looked it up, and, well, I'm still mad and confused. On all the race cars I saw, she looked like her original self, but this, the Miku in Toyota's commericals, I seriously don't know why they changed her like that. It to me looks like they don't like Japanese charaters and want to change them. And, trust me, I am sorta happy about her having her car in America, but this model kills it. All I want is the orignial model. :L
If Vocaloid does become more well known, then we get more songs and more aspiring producers. Sure we have to deal with more annoying fans, but THAT IS HOW IT WORKS. This whole 'hipster' routine isn't making you look cool, rather, it makes you more bothersome to others. And don't give me the whole 'well if you don't like it, why are you commenting on it' holier-than-thou talk. I'm trying to make a point, and it seems like the only way to do this is write walls of text like this.
@NeonClockwork Personally, I WANT Miku to be better-known over here. The she's-popular-now-she-sucks thing doesn't apply to me, but I do see a whole lot of complaining about how she'll NEVER BE popular because her introduction sucked. As someone else put it, Toyota kind of herped when they should have derped.
And if people don't want Miku to go mainstream, then the image of her that's been put across shouldn't MATTER so frigging much to them.
@NeonClockwork Well, first I'd like to know why her being a real person or not is a matter at all...A fan is a fan. But, I can see people who aren't really fans saying they don't like it if she's popular. Humans are possessive. And they may actually be ruining it a bit...
@NeonClockwork well my post was too long so.. think about a maid from a maid cafe in Japan coming to America and working at McDonalds....but still being the maid from Japan...would be weird right? Or maybe that wasn't a good reference... I agree with you that people should calm down and let things fall in place. But sometimes you need a war before a peace treaty right?
Oh for god's sakes, people, take off your hipster glasses for a moment.
Miku is /software/
The source of her entire "character" was originally an image on a CD BOX
What do tech companies do with software?
/THEY MARKET IT AND THEY SELL IT/
I love Vocaloid but all this is getting pretty ridiculous.
Just sit back and enjoy the music people have created. There's no need to rage about something like this. Miku can't sell herself out when she was a product to begin with.
I like Miku, but i think Miku herself is a marketing tool, she's a software that sells, made by a company so promoting Toyota or promoting Miku with Toyota isnt such a bad idea , with this even more people will know about Vocaloid, and how good it is , So, if the creators of Vocaloid are with them , they would obviously have Saki ( the voice actress of Miku) and the whole vocaloid company with them , so if they agree to do it, i think they did thought over it , u know
Thank you so much for posting this, every line was my exact thought, and amazing how you had Miku sing it herself because it is so true. People are going to have very little respect for Vocaloid and Miku thanks to Toyota who is using her as a marketing tool and a strange, irrelevant mascot. This was amazing, and although the melody is cheerful, the message is quite clear and stern.
16 Year olds CAN drive. Thats when they get their license. -____________-" In fact, a couple people I know got their license at 15. What STATE do you all LIVE in?!
So 122 people still don't understand the purpose of the commercial, how sad.
And to all the idiots complaining about the model used for the love of fruck I've seen worse MMD models. If I put ten people in a room and tell them to draw Mickey Mouse all ten will look fricken different. That model or any other will not look just like X model before it!
@Fangzarie You apparently dont understand. They are using Miku as a marketing tool, not intoducing her to America. They are manipulating and exploiting vocaloid and the vocaloid community for their own gain, not innocently telling the US about vocaloid, otherwise we would have gotten a News report about Vocaloid, the voice synthesis program a long time ago, not some bizarre japanese-looking random commercial with a random teal-haired sqealing girl in it.
@SpottedleafCCRVMK You mean Gekk, Nerd and Technology online magazines. The general American public doesn't know, even most internet users dont know, like I said, only nerds and geeks and future/tech freaks really read those things, I've read almost all of them, and got excited everytime I came accross one. Vocaloid has never been in The Metro, the Daily News or on TV, so this commercial i still going to come off as weird to alot of normal people.
@MartyredxMaiden No, Vocaloid has been in a couple of large newspapers and I think Metro. I'm pretty sure Vocaloid or Miku has been featured in Metro or another British newspaper/magazine.
It has also been featured in a couple of foreign newspapers, such as a Brazilian newspaper.
I do NOT mean *geek*, nerd, and technology online magazines. But, those too.
Its none of your business. i just think she is SUGOI when she driving a car. if Yamaha do the same thing but with Motorcycle, i will said "Kyaahh~ MIku! You are Kawai~!" No offense. thats just my opinion! xD
@Kitsu289 Vocaloid was created by Yamaha. Yamaha and Toyota are corporate partners In a way Toyota and yamaha owns everything the other corporation does. That's why so many Toyota cars use Yamaha parts and the LFA's exhaust is tuned by Yamaha's music department.
If you're going to insult me because you're ignorant of this and to lazy to do your research then... you're a jerk.
It's much better if Yamaha use her in scooter or motorcycle commercial, cause I'm riding a grey Yamaha and her colors can represent Yamaha motorcycle very well.
@vampireknightgirl6 Toyota Motor Corporation (Japanese: トヨタ自動車株式会社) TYO: 7203, LSE: TYT, NYSE: TM, commonly known simply as Toyota and abbreviated as TMC, is a multinational automaker headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. In 2010, Toyota Motor Corporation employed 317,734 people worldwide . TMC is the world's largest automobile manufacturer by sales and production.
The company was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937 as a spinoff from his father's company Toyota Industries to create automobiles.
I for one think that the Miku they use in the commercial does not really look like herself, but it is a close second. I don think it injured her career at all. It was a really cool commercial and it is an honor that Miku would come to America(even if shes just a computerized volcaloid) I love Miku and all the Volcaloid characters and there songs, abd the commercial is cool.
it looks like they.................................MADE THIS IN,LIKE 30 MINUTES!!!i love miku, AND THE MIKU IN THE COMENRCIALISNT THE MIKU I LOVE AND LIKE SO DEARLY!!!!!
@blrbgbari i did i mean yeah they really didnt do her any good i dont approve of their methods and designs but shes out there u kno? and we kno its her i mean someone really needs to recall the commercail and spend more time on her desgin but still
I too am a Big Vocaloid fan with gbits of downloads that play inside my Toyota Avensis, and as much as it hurts me to say this I have to agree I don't who that was but it wasn't the Miku I so love. Whoever is was that aproved the final cut of this commercial has no idea what they have done to the Vocaloid brand and have totally blown the first impression the uninitiated US mass population will now have about anything Vovaloid. This is a bad own goal by Crypton and Toyota.
You guys are being silly. This is probably a good thing for her, because some people might have seen that (Japanese people, I mean). People who didn't know about her, and now they're wondering who she is. Just that small wonder can lead to another fan. And with each new fan, she gets closer to becoming more and more popular.

Heck look at all the Miku fanart out there (I've even seen a *fat* Miku fanart!).
sailorenlil 7 months ago
and you are normal people but i have seen a lot of you "normal" people making things more bizarre and stupid for nothing and say nothing when I talk about things like the artists of today, only because many are content with what they have and have no goal in life to think beyond the boundaries impose by themselves,
anyway my point is this,if you do not know enough about a subject, dont do any comment because you only look stupid by doing that, not only in this but anything in life ,siple as that
devil6may6cray 8 months ago
miku is not supposed to be sold because she is the reprecentation of people's feelings just how is supost to be in the music to be more clear remember the good band like metalica, guns and roses, aeroamith and many more and compare with today's music and you will say if i'm right or not and finally
3.- if you dont know hatsune miku you can't say if what we say as fans is right or wrong, you say that we are freaks or nerds or whatever
devil6may6cray 8 months ago
@devil6may6cray >>miku is not supposed to be sold
>>not meant to be sold
Ok so computer software from a computer software company advertised as 15000 yen with marketing extending into both video games and figurines and toys isn't meant to be sold. Right.
UTAUxyz 7 months ago 2
@UTAUxyz I'd give this five thumbs up if I could. Saying Miku's not to be 'sold' is ridiculous.
I've no objection to Miku being sold; what bugs me is merely that the IMAGE of her that the Toyota campaign is building isn't really consistent with the image of Miku that Crypton and the userbase have established. They can sell Miku all they want, I don't mind -- but can they at least sell the Miku we KNOW instead of this hot-dog-obsessed bizarro-world remix of her?
jakesbrain 7 months ago
@jakesbrain I'll point this out since it hasn't been brought up: has everyone forgotten that Miku has been connected to cars before? Look up the "Miku GT project". Also, on the hotdog thing: as someone else commented (either on here or elsewhere, I forget) Miku being interested in bacon wrapped hotdogs makes sense. From my own experiences, Japanese are often fascinated with foreign food as much as we're often fascinated with theirs.
UTAUxyz 7 months ago
continuing with my comment remember godzilla and dragon ball movies, you dont need to be a fan jus to see how bad were those..
2.- it's true that she is not a real person but is more human that many of the artis today, just see any of the most popular artist like justin beiber ironically speaking those are are only empty containers, whores of the music industry with not artistic soul, they do they do what the industry says no real music just marketing,
devil6may6cray 8 months ago

1.- the united states always do that they take something good that is not theirs and they try to make it look like it was a part of ther own culture no offense here just remember this....

The people freaking out over this commercial need to realize something. Absolutely nothing about Miku will change because of it. She will be no more mainstream, won't sound or look any different, or anything. The only consequence of this commercial is all the butthurt about it. Miku will never be popular among everyone.
GRthirty3 8 months ago

Miku is and never will be real...So why are you guys even getting upset over such a thing? Weren't you guys excited when Miku's music started getting sold on iTunes in America? what happened to that? Did it just, /vanish/? There are too many people in the world who barely know what vocaloid is, so no need to rage and hurt yourself over something that won't be extremely popular out of the anime and manga society, or however you want to label yourself.
VanillaPeachKiss124 8 months ago 2

You should want expansion and a maintained successful career for Vocaloid and therefore Miku.
The model is indeed SEGA and is indeed Crypton. If you have seen the concert or played Project Diva -- you would know that.

LoveInFrance 8 months ago

It. Is. A. SOFT. WARE. Made by a company to be sold for money. So in a sense, it has always been a sellout. But to the producers, not to Toyota. And more producers means more music. And then they might even discover the other Vocaloids, maybe even the English ones and use them more. Oh, but you probably wouldn't like that either. :/
DragonitePrincess 8 months ago 13
@NeonClockwork You are such bro tier.
AlexanderAfter 8 months ago 3
If I may, I'd like to point out that Miku is not, in fact, a real person. She is singing software. Therefore, she cannot 'sell out'. You guys need to chill with the whole 'Amerika is ruining Miku's kawaii desu image' thing. In case you havent noticed, there ARE producers in the US and England who make great Vocaloid songs. Y'all just fangasm over Miku and say things like 'Engish speaking communities don't deserve Miku' and stuff like that.
NeonClockwork 8 months ago 45
Frankly this is all starting to become a little sickening. I dare any one of you to say I'm a hater. Just because I don't worship Miku and I REALIZE SHE ISN'T A REAL PERSON doesn't make me any less of a fan. Honestly. Make up your minds people. Either you want Miku Vocaloid to become well known or you don't. You can't have it both ways. Furthermore, this whole 'Its popular, now it sucks' thing is getting WAY out of hand. Under what circumstances is that true?
NeonClockwork 8 months ago 57
@NeonClockwork i'd rather have her being UNKNOWN than a creepy ass looking girl in some god damn CAR commericals. I mean, CARS?! Miku has nothing to DO with CARS. I mean, I also dont WORSHIP Miku or anything, and I know she's not real, but I just don't agree with this idea. They should at least show respect to her fans and make her look as we know she is. Not some skinny...thing....
makedarkroses 8 months ago
@makedarkroses - First off, I want to thank you for responding in a polite, non-flaming way. I appreciate that.
I'm more or less upset at the people who are going WAY overboard on this Miku+Toyata thing. And I undertsnd what you mean. A better sponsor could have been chosen, you have a point there. But we're stuck with Toyota until someone more appropriate is chosen.
NeonClockwork 8 months ago
SpottedleafCCRVMK 8 months ago 2
@SpottedleafCCRVMK I didn't know she was on 10 racing cars...so I looked it up, and, well, I'm still mad and confused. On all the race cars I saw, she looked like her original self, but this, the Miku in Toyota's commericals, I seriously don't know why they changed her like that. It to me looks like they don't like Japanese charaters and want to change them. And, trust me, I am sorta happy about her having her car in America, but this model kills it. All I want is the orignial model. :L
makedarkroses 8 months ago
If Vocaloid does become more well known, then we get more songs and more aspiring producers. Sure we have to deal with more annoying fans, but THAT IS HOW IT WORKS. This whole 'hipster' routine isn't making you look cool, rather, it makes you more bothersome to others. And don't give me the whole 'well if you don't like it, why are you commenting on it' holier-than-thou talk. I'm trying to make a point, and it seems like the only way to do this is write walls of text like this.
NeonClockwork 8 months ago 19
@NeonClockwork I saw that you posted on VO, and I thought what you'd post would be slightly unimpressing.
I WAS TOTALLY WRONG.
You get an A+++++++++ for writing this and a standing ovation.
YOU ARE COMPLETELY CORRECT.
SpottedleafCCRVMK 8 months ago 4
@NeonClockwork Personally, I WANT Miku to be better-known over here. The she's-popular-now-she-sucks thing doesn't apply to me, but I do see a whole lot of complaining about how she'll NEVER BE popular because her introduction sucked. As someone else put it, Toyota kind of herped when they should have derped.
And if people don't want Miku to go mainstream, then the image of her that's been put across shouldn't MATTER so frigging much to them.
jakesbrain 8 months ago
@NeonClockwork Well, first I'd like to know why her being a real person or not is a matter at all...A fan is a fan. But, I can see people who aren't really fans saying they don't like it if she's popular. Humans are possessive. And they may actually be ruining it a bit...
KawaiiBunniez 7 months ago
@NeonClockwork well my post was too long so.. think about a maid from a maid cafe in Japan coming to America and working at McDonalds....but still being the maid from Japan...would be weird right? Or maybe that wasn't a good reference... I agree with you that people should calm down and let things fall in place. But sometimes you need a war before a peace treaty right?
KawaiiBunniez 7 months ago
Oh for god's sakes, people, take off your hipster glasses for a moment.
Miku is /software/
The source of her entire "character" was originally an image on a CD BOX
What do tech companies do with software?
/THEY MARKET IT AND THEY SELL IT/
I love Vocaloid but all this is getting pretty ridiculous.
Just sit back and enjoy the music people have created. There's no need to rage about something like this. Miku can't sell herself out when she was a product to begin with.

SparkCT1284 8 months ago
I like Miku, but i think Miku herself is a marketing tool, she's a software that sells, made by a company so promoting Toyota or promoting Miku with Toyota isnt such a bad idea , with this even more people will know about Vocaloid, and how good it is , So, if the creators of Vocaloid are with them , they would obviously have Saki ( the voice actress of Miku) and the whole vocaloid company with them , so if they agree to do it, i think they did thought over it , u know
djay00009 8 months ago
Thank you so much for posting this, every line was my exact thought, and amazing how you had Miku sing it herself because it is so true. People are going to have very little respect for Vocaloid and Miku thanks to Toyota who is using her as a marketing tool and a strange, irrelevant mascot. This was amazing, and although the melody is cheerful, the message is quite clear and stern.
