like someone mentioned, i'm sure it's not a rip off, but an homage. that being said, this recording is far superior and the execution far beyond the scope of what Slint could have ever done...at least in the studio. both songs are amazing though. that's for damn sure.
@skidotcom1 it's a homage. albini produced slint's first record and mentioned that this was a homage in an interview when 1000 hurts was released. there's a massive study about these two songs relation. pretty interesting study, if I may add.
i had never heard Good Morning, Captain by Slint until i read these first comments. as a full on big time albini fan, from Big Black to Rapeman to Shellac and his approach to engineering, i HAVE to say, that this song is directly related to Good Morning, Captain. every tone is the same except the opening voice. it's laid out more simply, but every element in shoe song that is in good morning.
@lum2m Nope, he was "producer" on Tweez. He stated that he loved their Spiderland, along with stuff of the Jesus Lizard. If you listen carefully you can hear some tributes to them too in other Shellac songs.
guess I could see the homage thing, but they're really not that similar

rather a little tribute than a rip off in my opinion, i think bob even stated it in an interview. great songs both, though.
