Any talk about change to remove inefficiencies leads to talks about loss of livelihood/jobs. We DONT want to link quality of HC with loss of livelihood. We don't need healthcare reform. We need health insurance reform. One of the biggest problems is the government does not allow companies to compete. For example, in CA we have about 25 companies competing when there are about 500 companies who would like to sell insurance in CA. Blue Shield of CA is a non-profit. They compete against Anthem/Blue Cross of CA which is a for profit. We need both. If the government allowed competition, benefits would improve and prices would come down.

The Bush Administration is responsible for 53% of the US debt. 20% of that is an extension of these policies into the Obama administration. The recession is responsible for 37%, which is directly tied to the lack of oversight and regulation during the Bush years bringing the total to 90% Bush. 7% is the stimulus. Certainly the economy has slowly improved since the collapse. 3% is solely the Obama administration. Healthcare will not change this. Where were the teabaggers during the Bush years?

The housing market was the straw that broke the camel's back. Seeing that your knowledge is limited to Sean Hannity, I'll keep it simple. The banks gave people loans they could not afford on purpose. The banks needed the loans on their books to continue leverging as high as 20:1. So the banks profited with every loan given out regardless of the security of the loan. Eventually, the loans would collapse, but by then Wall Street was so rich, they simply didn't care.

Wrong. The stimulus packs amounts to 7% of the debt. The debt that is tied to the recession is 37%. Then argument is this, by spending money on stimulus you in effect reduce the severity of the recession thereby reducing its effect on the national debt.

The reason Medicare is running close to empty is because health care costs are rising much faster than inflation. 5. Medicare costs rose at a significantly lower rate than did health care costs overall. 6. At the current rates, health care costs will bankrupt the country in a decade.

Why is it that they just won't even consider reforming blood sucking ambulance chasing lawyers? Ask any OB/GYN if frivolous lawsuits are a problem. Here's a clue, it's really not at all about finding a way to bring down costs and increase the health of people - it's all about power and control. If we do the public option, we will pay a huge price in lower quality and less choice. We have a plan for old people, it's called MEDICARE, and it's broke. Poor people: Medicaid, and broke.

I read that the insurance lobby spent $380 million 'convincing' their employees in Congress that any public option would end civilization as we know it.
Surely they MUST have peoples' best interests at heart. After all, large multi-national corporations would NEVER put profits before ethics.
One thing we can all be thankful for. At least they didn't waste all of that money on frivolous nonsense like providing medical care to sick people.

Govt. managed HC plan in Britain led expansion of their system such that it is now the 3rd largest employer (after Chinese army and Indian Railways). Any talk about change to remove inefficiencies leads to talks about loss of livelihood/jobs. We DONT want to link quality of HC with loss of livelihood. U cannot provide the best since that may involve removing off inefficient departments. A double whammy! Thats downright immoral.

We don't need healthcare reform. We need health insurance reform. One of the biggest problems is the government does not allow companies to compete. For example, in CA we have about 25 companies competing when there are about 500 companies who would like to sell insurance in CA. Blue Shield of CA is a non-profit. They compete against Anthem/Blue Cross of CA which is a for profit. We need both. If the government allowed competition, benefits would improve and prices would come down.
