Awesome video alex, hard landing indeed, i flew on the tu-154 many times myself and never seen such a rough landing, but its a rugged airplane and i luv it!
Because of the reverse of engines after landing...they have a bit bigger ground speed after touchdowns than Boeings and Airbuses....so it is not enough to use intreceptors and brakes
Using reverse thrust during landing is a very normal procedure that is not only practiced by russian-made aircrafts. Pretty much every commercial-jet-airplane is equipped with thrust reversers. Some airlines (like British Airways or Thai) require their pilots not to use more than reverse idle during landing, which means they only open the reverser-doors and do not throttle up the engines. Idle reverse does not make as much noise and does not take as much fuel as a landing with maximum reverse.
I must admit I do not know about Russian legislation, but at least all wester aircraft must be able to stop without using Thrust Reversers at all times, so they are just used to reduce brake wear and shorten the landing roll...
I think You have allready missed the chance....the Domodedovo airlines are gone....so the planes also...maybe there is a chnace to get a ride on them in Kazahstan....But in Russia we are using 767 and 777 on a long route...about 154 AFL still operates them on domestic....but shortly they will change to airbus....
Few years ago Aeroflot still used il62. They were mostly used for domestic flight and to places such as uzbekistan etc. I flown on il62 from Moscow to Seoul (south Korea).
a pitty not to use this type of plane further on this leg, bewst sound ever of D30-KU-154 engines, also the use of T/Rs still in flare, often seen in SXF when SU or Pulkovo or VIA/BALKAN planes came to touch/down, again, good vid and best plane ever! Ever seen a bad landing on 154? Think no!
WOW ! Super video ! :-D

Right on the 1000' markers... not bad. That landing didn't seem too bad for the descent rate upon touchdown.

Very true that! haah
And the Kuznetsov NK-8 (powered earlier Tu-154s and Il-62s) sound almost exactly like JT3D engines too! :P

I have a question :
Why in Tu-154, always, immediately after the landing, the eingenes became so loud for 5-10 seconds?

alex97197 3 years ago
Oh thank you very much! :)
that means that immediately after the landing the same engines are working to the opposite side to stop the liner?
I didn't know it's possible :)

Thank you!
And what is the reason that British Airways or some other companies require their pilots not to use it?
Is it makes tha eingens lifes shorter?
RADAMES1983 3 years ago
All jet liners use reverse dude :)

Except if the traffic is on short behind..and You have to leave the runway as soon as possible)))

love the sound so badly, why cant boeing and airbus do that . o yh its the economy.

Amazing :), Never flied in Tu154, only in 767, 737 and B aerospaciales
Must admit is more noisy, but in "security" it must be very robust reliable..?
