  • Holy craap that bread is soo white!

  • you're cute!

  • In-depth analysis on peanut butter - I like

  • mention the peanut content!....seriously dude!this stuff looks worse than peanutbutter from holland after n2!

  • mention the peanut content!....seriously dude!

  • man that vaseline one looked pretty nasty.

  • yes...i.want.to.taste.all.of.that

  • The peanut butter sandwich from the convini, you need to try it lightly toasted... then it's quite tasty!

  • @TheHunterAstro That never occurred to me before! I think I'll try it today. Thanks for the idea. Ha ha.

  • The peanut butter sandwich from the convini, you need to try it lightly toasted... then it's quite tasty!

  • Wow...granted, i sometimes get mad when i cant find certain types of Japanese food here, but going to japan and not being able to find a jar of peanut butter (with nothing but ground up peanuts with no additives or hydrogenation) would be extremely frustrating.

  • you make them look delicious.

  • the guy in the video is kinda cute ^_^

  • did you die?

  • @gemmanhaleigh Nope.

  • I have eaten both american peanut butter and japanese peanut cream. For me , american peanut butter is tasteless ( not sweet ), so I prefer japanese peanut cream . What you said " vaselline " is like grape jelly in the U.S.

  • OK! oops, I posted too early,,.. I should have waited till the end of your video... see? It's not so bad =)

  • WHAT?!?! Dude, I actually love that stuff you called names. I have eaten it about 3 times in the last 4 years , but each time it never fails my tastebuds. I personally like it very much.. but hey, still liked your video =) nice work. I found you through Tofugu ^.^ see you around the tube.

  • 100% natural peanut butter is the best if you can find it.

    Chunky, of course.

  • I've had the pre-made sandwich before and I have to say, I loved it. I'm not a big fan of PB but when I had it it was delicious. It tastes great when you finish it with one of those 3.2% strength chu-hai.

  • Maybe the Peanut Cream was a bad brand because I had it in Japan and it didn't taste waxy at all. I honestly prefered it over American peanut butter because it was lighter and not so sticky. It was definitely more suited to my breakfast toast.

  • I have tried all those types. Hard to find good peanut butter in Japan. That peanut cream tastes like it should be on a Sundae and not a sandwich

  • o.o

    A) that 3rd one looks nasty

    B) that bread is really really thick

and C) peanut butter is awesome

  • @xXdarkdiamond1457Xx

Japanese bread is really thick, and it tastes amazing.

  • I take it you can't get the stuff with a layer of oil on top over there. A lot of people don't like it, but it does keep pretty well.

  • Peanut butter is actually like my biggest fear when it comes to moving to japan. If I can't find it... or can't afford it.. eep! It's like my staple food.

  • I like the peanut cream xD

Maybe because I usually don't eat peanut butter at all and don't know the taste of the others.

  • I have to ask, was the Skippy Chunky or creamy? Chunky rules!!! And you should've had jelly on the side.

  • rofll of course it has to be skippy haha! you had already dug into the skippy a few times >:) that stuff is bombiiee! :D

  • okay, just saw the last few seconds, whey!! rofl.

  • .......

  • Stop stalking my comments xD

  • Noooo!!!, I loved those sealed, crustless peanut butter sammiches when I went to Tokyo!, I don't like beef so when we went to the shabushabu place,I had that sammich :D

  • I've had Uncrustables here in the US and think they are pretty good. They are so convenient when you're working long hours and don't have time to make a sandwich to take to work.

  • skippy peanutbutter is disgusting. PeterPan is way better.

  • nigga doesn't know what he's talking about. the packaged ones are friggin delicious to some people (including me).

  • KYAA! now i am craving peanut butter :) haha my mom bought me those crustless peanut butter sandwiches once and i just threw them out they were so disgusting XD I like the stuff imported from America best <3

  • I agree! The obvious follow-up question is - do you prefer creamy or crunchy style peanut butter?

  • Crunchy, love it!

  • Crunch without a doubt!

  • 3rd one looks like caramel

  • If only it tasted like caramel...

  • Eeeew that wrapped PBSandwich looks like an Sponge for the car which I use to clean my windows in it.. ^^

  • Hahaha funny video. (:

Oh man, your video makes me want to whip up a peanut butter sandwich right now. .. I actually want to try peanut cream too, just out of curiosity haha.

  • Skippy cap drumroll!

  • Great review! Have you seen all-natural peanut butter over there? Ingredients should read "peanuts and salt (maybe)" no sugar or oil added. I'd be shocked if you have.

Oh and talking to a crust-less sandwich.... priceless!! :)

  • I've only seen it in import shops at ridiculously high prices. (But I'll be honest - I like mine with oil and sugar...ha ha ha. Don't get me wrong - but by the time the natural stuff gets over here it's not so roasty-toasty good anymore. You know?)

  • Aaahhh yes, I can imagine! I'm assuming there are no peanuts grown in Japan (where are peanuts grown anyway?!) but why can't they import the peanuts then grind them into the deliciousness we all grew up with????

  • I felt it was very appropriate that you were wearing a wonder bread t-shirt. Was that planned?

  • It was on purpose...and you made my day by noticing!

  • I actually kind of like the peanut butter sandwich thingy..... obviously its not as good as the peanut butter we can get back in North America but its cheap and decent.

  • Actually peanut butter doesn't have that much sugar in it. Normal brands like Jiff only have about 3g sugar per serving.

I am sure the peanut cream and the stuff inside that sandwich have a bit more sugar, but normal peanut butter is not high in sugar. It is kind of misleading because it does have somewhat of a sweet taste, I think it's just something about peanuts. One thing is for sure though, peanut butter is very addictive. It's got the whole salty and sweet thing going on.

  • I made the mistake of buying peanut cream once... took one bite and I was gonna toss it, but for some reason my roommate at the time liked it.

  • I don't get it either - but some people do like it. CRINGE. Ha ha.

  • i'm hungry

  • Wow, I didn't know peanut butter was eaten in Japan. From what I had been told and read, I always thought peanut butter was just something eaten in the States. =0

  • There's something horrifying about this video.

  • ...hope it's the peanut butter...and not me...

  • lol you kinda look like koichi in this video

  • PEANUT WHIP!!!!!!!

  • 1.) Those PB sandwiches are DELICIOUS. Magically delicious.

2.) Ohhh peanut cream is not THAT bad!! Even I often compare foods to non-edible items to be as accurate in my description as possible, but I used to eat that stuff because it's like caramel. Caramel!! Not Vasoline. I claim that false advertising ;P

  • bleh! That peanut cream is an abomination of peanut butter! I almost gagged just watching you eat it. Hehe

  • You are so funny! I really enjoyed watching this. =] That peanut cream is the nastiest looking peanut butter I have ever seen. It really does look like petroleum jelly. Poor guy...having to eat that for us. Haha

  • Tube packaging?

For one's peanut needs on the go?

I applaud you for eating the peanut cream. It takes serious dedication to eat something that unappetizing in appearance.

  • Yeah - mobile peanut products are all the rage. (Or something?) Ha ha. Thanks for the props - the peanut cream is really...just as bad as it looks. I was too harsh on the prepacked sandwich - but not harsh enough on the peanut cream. That stuff is gag-tastic. Ha ha.

  • The peanut cream looked like it couldn't even be digestible by humans...I hope for your sake it hasn't done any permanent damage.

  • peanut soft is good. that's the one i like im gonna have to get it.

  • japanese peanut butter is the shit! it's so good

  • Why do you have all that peanut crap in your house!? OMG the 3rd one made me want to puke!

  • You're not the only one! Ha ha.

  • just watching this is turning my stomach im gonna puke

  • Was it the one that looks like petroleum jelly that did it? Cause I could understand that...

  • omg sweet peanut butter does not taste like peanut butter at all xD

  • The funny thing is i actually wondered about this

  • The cream stuff looked horrible. I still don't understand why the color was so off though. So I guess we should all stick to American peanut butter

  • The color was off because it's not peanut butter, so it has few ingredients in common. Peanuts, for instance. Ha ha.

  • lol. It still looks gross. Great video, though.

  • what do you afterwards with all that peanut butter?

胡麻クリーム is much better than the peanut kind!! ):

  • I ate most of it. Not the cream. though. Just couldn't do it. I've never seen sesame cream before. I've seen black sesame spread that looks similar to Vegemite, but not a regular sesame cream. And I am addicted to sesame - it's easily my favorite salad dressing, ramen condiment, etc. I'll have to look into that.

  • it comes in nearly the same container as the peanut cream. this one is of the black sesame variety, though - and i misspelled it, it's 黒ゴマ :P

  • When I get what I need, I will one day go to japan, though it would probably be nice to learn japanese now eh? lol

  • The best peanut butter I ever had was in Australia... It was also very sweet, and I only ever had it out of those single serve containers like you find at a diner. I lived off that stuff, since all the other food I got was crap.

  • Bleh, that cream stuff looks disgusting!

Hmm, never would've imagined that Japanese brand peanut butter was sweeter than American brand, especially after tasting a lot of different Japanese cakes.

  • It's pretty foul stuff, all right. Do you find Japanese cakes as dry as I do? Cake needs moisture!

  • Yeah they are pretty dry. They're ok once you get used to them though.

  • Can you compare prices? if it does taste bad I wonder how much it costs..

  • Good PB - 500 yen or so. Crap PB - 200 yen or so.

  • interesting

  • The other imitators look like they are easier ways to get fat.

  • Yep, lots of fat in each one. Lots. And sugar too.

  • Peanut cream is the worst type of peanut spread ever made. It's like they took 20 parts sugar, added one part peanut butter and five parts oil....yeah. That's peanut cream.

I just hate how much it costs me to buy PB. I love having PB&J for breakfast with my coffee.

Nice review. I pretty much agree with everything...although I commend you for swallowing the peanut cream...I spat it out after it touched my tongue! @_@

  • Thanks for realizing the pain I went through for the viewers. Ha ha ha.

  • Cool vid man

  • That piece of bread is HUGE. What do you use vaseline for? :D

  • "It's like spreading vaseline!"

Ha ha, that's by far my favorite part. And this video made me want a peanut butter sandwich. D:

  • Ha ha ha - but it IS like spreading vaseline. After I made this video, I chucked that stuff. I kept all the rest, and will eventually use it all. But not the cream. No way, no how.

  • LOL! If I ever get to go to Japan, I'm trying the Vaseline-Peanut butter. Simply to see how gross it is. A stupid plan, but a plan nonetheless!

  • The disgusting crust-less gunk peanut sandwiches look good to me. D:

    It has a pretty peanut.

  • Yes, the pretty peanut sandwiches are better than I let on at the beginning. I apologize to the sandwich at the end, though! :-)

  • Peanut cream looks exactly like Doce de Leite.

  • Huh. Doce de Leite is dulce de leche in Portuguese, right? I'd never even thought of that before.

  • Yeah, because yours would be better huh, asshole?

  • I pretty much knew that the American peanut butter would taste better. The Japanese peanut butter was interesting to look at *and tasting for you* although that Snoopy peanut butter looks like baby poo-poo. X((((

  • I enjoyed this. I miss natural peanut butter you could get back in the states, even though the oil and "butter" would separate, it lacked all those unnecessary "hydrogenated oils" and things your body doesn't really need.

i'ma go buy some skippy now

  • Meh - just stir it back up briskly and you're good to go! Ha ha. Roasty toasty goodness.

  • I'm so glad I found someone who, like me, is crazy for Japan and PB.

  • Nice Deas, this is great! I've always loved Japanese Peanut butter :) So frackin' tasty

  • It's sweeter than the average bear. Err...peanut butter.

  • How much did all those cost you?

  • Hmmm...I'd have to look it up for the individual prices, but the total was north of ¥1,000. Ha ha.

  • I've started a riot in defense of the Lunch Pack sandwich! Ha ha ha. Sorry!

  • Japanese white bread has always bothered me... The slices are thick, dense... oddly sweet... but mostly just thick. I swear, every loaf, no matter the number of slices, has the same mass.

  • The bread on my island is in rotation all the time. I might end up with wonder-style white bread (which I agree with you about), the kind with rice flour, the kind with whole grains (mmm), the English-style (awesome toast), or the butter bread from Hokkaido (sweeeet). I wish I had greater control over these things.

  • I love the peanut sandwiches!

  • It's true..I have come under extreme criticism for being too harsh to the conbini peanut butter sandwich. This might just be a case of a 「許すべからざる意見」? Ha ha ha.

  • Deas, that rocked! Now I know to stick with the Skippy! I always had in my own blinkered mind that it was named after Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. :-)

  • Thanks! You can stick with any peanut butter you fancy, really. (I just prefer the American-style.)

You know, I used to watch that show on old VHS tapes that were losing their magnetic images. So nostalgic. Ha ha. Skippy, Skippy, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo....Skippy, Skippy, Skippy a friend ever true...
