This must have been from one of Taiji's last few appearances as a member of the group because you can just see the tension in the faces of the members if you look closely.

You know, I think you're right. Pata and hide didn't look like they were having a particularly good time and were just going through the motions of playing. Toshi seemed like he was trying his best but his heart just wasn't in it.

Despite how awesome this song is, watching them play it like this kinda sucks the life out of it. Hmm, I was going to buy the Verge of Destruction DVD, but if they were like this through all the shows, I think I'll pass :(

Taiji's final shows were X's 3-day Tokyo Dome set in January of 1992. This is the first night. "The Verge of Destruction" is the final night, January 7th.

There's a video put out that was professionally filmed for the On the Verge of Destruction tour. The Silent Jealousy on that video is a bit different than this one, but it's not a bootleg, so the video and sound quality are a lot better. Especially the treble, since you can't hear much treble at all in the solo in the bootleg.
