  • FLICK the "color" switch DOWN ...and then it won't sound like you are in outter space.

It will instead sound like ... Robin Trower!!

    Try it!

  • I just bought one of these and it sounds very nice, but there is a (very much) audible clicking noise that increases as the rate is raised and becomes more intense with the color switch engaged. Does anyone know how to fix this?? it would be much appreciated

  • hey I have this, what's the difference between this and the regular one?

  • This pedal is one of my favorites, I don't think I'll ever sell it.

  • Ghost says skip to 0:42

  • any1 know how good these sound with bass?

  • ive never actaully tried... if i get a chance ill try and do a video and put it up this week

  • It is analog?

  • I have russian bassballs and its effing killer! I didnt know about the russian small stone, damn i need it!

  • i have this pedala nd its amazing

  • I bought one of these directly from EH when I worked at GC for really f-ing cheap. I think my vintage USA model sounded much better... until I modified the russian. I made it true bypass, replaced the color switch with a stomp switch, changed the potentiometer out for a CTK 500K control pot, replaced the LED with a bright blue one and changed the knob out for a big skull knob. Named it the Evil small stone... what a marvelous beast. Sold it. Planning to make another... I miss it a lot :-(

  • HEY im selling my russian electro harmonix small stone. i only used it like 5 times. it's silly but i wanted it because jonny greenwood of radiohead.

  • I just picked up the Russian one from my guys guitar shop for like 100.00 Its been in there forever and I wanted a phaser for my bass. Its still in the original wooden box . My next box is a big muff for the bass

  • big muff is siiiick!

  • amazing sound

  • 0:15-0:18 THE WONDER YEARS

  • I've got the russian one, and old one at that and it kicks ass. Although when I use max gain and lots of dist my guitar pickups become a radio antenna for my amp XD

  • this makes me miss my russian. I bought a USA and it kicks major butt...but this russian is great too.

I recorded a song once and the guitar parts were recorded with both USA and Russian Small Stones, the phasers phased in and out of each other - I still say it's the best phaser sound I've probably ever heard, and I pulled it off...eek!

  • hey, im selling my small stone-russian. are you looking into buying one?

  • how much?

  • $80 plus however much the post charges for shipping and handling.

it's in it's original wooden box.

    it's basicly brand new.

  • hey i have 2 new/not opened DR guitar strings that i'll throw in for free.

  • Probably gonna buy a Nano, because you don't have a volumedrop then. Like the sound of the Sovjet better though.

  • yeah im tempted by a nano, a smaller pedal would be great and it would be interesting to compare the two

  • You can change two resistor values to compensate for the volume drop that is perceived. It's pretty simple to do.

  • hi hammond, i have the nano. Nano is very very good for the value but I do notice a slight volume drop. Not as bad as the older units though

  • Love the Small Stone. Not a bad demo.

  • I just say it seems to me that the sound is warmer with your russian model but you should try yourself because I can't make a decent video with my USA model :-(

Anyway, I've got a russian Big Muff, that's true, LOL

  • Are the USA small stones as good as this?

  • im not sure theres a small stone nano demo by dsotm321 and it sounds pretty similar

  • if you like toneless crap, then yeah I would say its better.

  • Fuck you zaspor, you ignorant prick. You must be one of those elitist types that think only vintage, hard to find, out of production effects can sound good. The USA one is just as good as this thing, far from "toneless crap". If you want toneless crap, then look no further than Boss or Digitech. EHX always has made great quality effects throughout their existince. Sure you could spend the extra $300 a one of these (if you can find it) or just pay $85 for a new USA one that is just as good.

  • whaaaaaaaaaaat?

I completely agree with your sentiments, "d00derson", and I hate guitar snobs A LOT...

BUT I paid *less* than $85 for my Russian (black) SS just a couple years ago... *with* wooden box and some EH postcard thing! Just saying, it's really not that expensive!

  • Yeah, I found that out after I posted that comment. Oh well.

  • I hate Electro Harmonix pedals.. are not versatile

  • hmmm ok so its not got many variables just the speed and 'color' but considering i think you can get quite a few sounds out of these two controls...

theres a certain charm about ehx pedals. there just differnt, usually have some unique noise and are alot bigger case wise that they need to be lol

  • I agreee. This makes the charm of EHX pedals and why I love them.

I have a Small Clone, only one knob and a switch, but it is great on my bass.

Moreover, your russian Small Stone seems to sound even better thant my USA small stone...

  • and they are cheaper than the usa models, the case is massive though so i cant cramp it on a tiny pedal board!!! damn it

  • Damn Damn, I can't buy another EHX Small Stone pedal, it would be a bit stupid.

Actually, the phaser of my dream would sound like the one used for guitar of the acoustic version of One More Time of DAFT PUNK, a 70s sounding phaser, rich, deep, mellow and melodic.

  • lol yeah i almost went looking for a usa small stone but then realised maybe i shouldnt, and if you said they dont sound as good! i need to get big muff, i had a clone a few years ago and i loved it but never actually had one

  • @erixoff the phaser daft punk uses is a ams phaser-delay, its a vintage piece of studio equipment, very rare, very expensive... but im not sure that's the one they used on their acousic version, but is is likely

BTW there is one on ebay now for 900 euros ;)

  • @wideman0008 Thanx for the info. To add on my dream wishlist ;-)

Anyway, how do you know the gear of Daft Punk ?

  • @erixoff i saw your comment, and started searching what phaser they did use. (i know i need to get a life) i found it at some gear website... cheers from holland ;)

  • this is a really weird cool different sounding pedal. how much?

  • I have an Ibanez CS-9, sounds way better than this, but, there seems to be a few sounds this has the other doesn't. However, the CS-9 does have a much warmer analog sound.

  • I also have a ('82) CS 9, and it's pointless to compare. The CS 9 is a chorus while this is a phaser...

  • I love the sound

  • the small stone is or was when i bought it about £50 and i got my ds-2 for £35 secondhand and i think there about £50 or £60

  • sorry what was that about the ds-2?

  • Just picked up one of these Russian small stones except for the slight volume drop effect I love this thing.

  • i love this pedal i gotta get 1! i think the russian one looks cooler than the us one

  • oh ok cause I wanted to get one but the usa one is like $80

  • theres a new nano usa version that looks interesting, if your looking at a phaser or flanger or trem try the boss bf-3 its really good, ill post a video of that in a few days

  • really cool, this one looks different than the one I saw on musicians friend com

  • its the russian made one not the american one, i think they are slightly cheaper but they still sound great

  • EHX pedals are the bests pedals and my favourite is the polychorus...then the great small stone;D

  • I used to have one but i traded it in,got a boss bf-2 now wayyyyyy better man,way better

  • yep i have a bf-3 there good, you can do a lot more with the bf but its not as simple and it doesnt come in the classic ehx case thats twice as big as it needs to be!

  • lol i got a bf-2 it suxks ass man. i gotta get me a small stone sounds so spacey.

  • ha ive got to get myself a small stone nano, just to free up some space on a pedal board!!!!

  • i love this phaser, so lush sounding. good samples

  • yep its a good one, i love EHX pedals

  • In my opinion, this is the best phaser ever made. Although I'd like a wet/dry knob is the best sounding phaser in the realm of ontical existence.

  • wow, it almost sounds like a wah on that last part of the clip. Really versatile.

  • he is still using it afaik

  • youve got to like electro harmonix pedals, have you seen the behringer range that just rips them off? theres a copy of the memory man

  • oh yeah i know... and this vintage overdrive pedal from them is a big muff copy (check gearwire)... i really don't like the companies selling strategy... seems pretty lazy :D

well you can hear the difference at least. =)

hmm and yep, i like EH, i owned the big muff m.i.r., the dr.Q, the small clone and the pulsar... even though i sold them i liked them very much.

little big muff is already in my buyingpipe :D

    best regards, patrik

  • man munky used this phaser
