get either a Raptor 700, TRX 700 or a KFX 700 if you're going to me riding mostly highway. You will need all the extra power on the highway. Riding a 450 on the highway all the time would be pretty hard on it.

yeah the quad is great for beginners. it has alot of power but its very controllable, but when you want to smoke your buddies in a drag race its there. the fuel injection is very good and compensates for things like taking off your airlid. the quad jumps the best, i can out jump my buddies that are twice my age with twice the experience. the turning is very easy and doesnt wear you out like other quads. it is just over all a good quad for beginners as well as experts

you will be very happy with it. one thing to try......take your seat off and open up your airlid, it really helps out alot, and it really makes your kawasaki sound good. i did that to mine and its incredible!

05 and newer have better frames, extra clutch plate, redesigned cam profile, resevior shocks, larger carb, and few ther misc. 03 frames I would stay away from

the only problem with 05 and 06 400's is that they used a differnt material in the clutch case and antifreeze eats it up. it was a big recall from Suzuki. Get an 04 and stick 05 shocks on it. it's the same damn thing.

The LTZ and KFX 400 are cheap now. I got mine (2005)for $4000 two years ago only 6 mo old. Buy used..and buy one stock that hasn't been abused. If xtras are on it and it's super clean and the price is right, make a deal. I wouldn't pay too much extra for the mods though. You will be able to tell and don't be afraid to walk away. There are thousands to choose from.

Not sure of top speed on the 450 but they say the KFX400 is 71 so I would assume the 450 woud be a little faster. Top speed is hardly ever reached if ever. The terrain better be long, flat and fairly smooth to do 70+ MPH. What is a bike length or two at 60+ anyway. Not much diff. Get a bike that you like that is affordable and that is comfortable and user friendly. I have the KFX400 and LOVE it.
