During the mid 80's the BMW f1 engine with a turbo pressure of 5.5 Bar (about 80PSI :S) producing 1,300 bhp. That is unreal. I don't know the acceleration figures for that are.
I don't doubt the acceleration figures, but if you watch them launch 1st gear looks dreadfully slow in comparison to going through the rest of the gearbox. I'm not saying it isn't impressive overall but after they his 2nd the acceleration ramps up so much that visually the initial launch wasn't that great looking. Before the flaming starts I'm not cutting these down in the least they are beyond bad and the scream isn't to be believed unless you've heard it in person!
First gear looks slow because there is a traction control system in place. by 2nd gear the wings are generating enough down force to let the full power hit the road.
Yep, ur right, F1 Cars have terrible initial acceleration, they have so much power that they need to be going at least 30-60 mph to have enough downforce to put it down.

exept Top Fuel...they go 200mp/h when the F1 reach 100...
