I would not go for ghost roaster but he comes with the darklight crypt adventure pack so if you want to get the new level you don't have a choice.

The pheonix dragon is an awsome character called sunburn and he comes with the dragons peak adventure pack and along with the empire of ice adventure pack, which comes with slambam, and finally the big attraction cynder. It comes out on the 12th of february 2012. To bad that is after I go back to school and I have to order the stuff online because I moved from Australia to Hong Kong

You don't need loads of skylanders. I did it with just one and barely toke any damage. Did it with Gill Grunt. He have a water jetpack upgrade that makes him super fast.

But my favorite character to take on several strong guys at once is stealth elf with the scarecrow path. That is probably OP.

That said, the final boss of the game was hard for real. On my first time, I actually lost many skylanders to it. 2 of them got 1 hit killed. That was the only boss fight that got me panicking.
