PanterA still hadn't discovered that Texas Power Groove at this point. The electric drums don't fit here and this guy singing just sounds like every other dude in metal around this time. They had to get rid of this dude to find they're real sound. But once they did, they ruled the metal world. Proof that you gotta crawl before you can "Walk".
They sounded just like "Dirty Looks"! Seriously, the singer is even imitating DL's vocalist's signature inflections. I am only a year younger than Dimebag, so I can remember how easy it was for some ppl to get caught up in the hair metal scene, but there was still a very active punk culture happening....
so they had a choice, not to mention I had already seen metallica on their kill em all tour by this time which shows you didn't have to jump on the hair metal 'wagon' so to speak. There was "new" music out there, you just had to be able to see it before everyone else already had.
@fwerfwater the Hot N Heavy Videos that are out there are ripped from me. I should know since I transferred it myself direct from an original Hot N Heavy vhs I bought in 94.
To all those who bag on the glam style, did not obviously live in that era & ever have the chance to capitalize on all the "Totally Hot Metal Chicks" who dug the guys in that garb & that was the door way to pussy my friends back then & people now just don't understand, that's how it was in the "Rockin' Ass '80's"! The entire L.A. strip was dressed like that & we were not fags, but just the opposite, cuz the girls loved it ! The lady's dress to kill to & that was all part of the fun back then !
@ MIMGPDB, Your kinda gay now, but know one really cares, but you haven't done one thing worthy of noting in public you lame ass MF ! Don't criticize unless your better & I know your NOT, because people that work as hard don't shoot their trap off unless they can back it up, LAME ASS ! Do you even have one single ASCAP song on the books ? I didn't think so... Dime was a " ONE KILLER AXE MAN " All there shit rules, they were dedicated to their craft & it shows. Who cares what they wore !
haha, Dime's prabably 18 years old in this and he still blows my ass away at guitar. I'm 31, granted I don't take guitar playing very seriously, it's still ridiculous that I have been playing since 13 and i still can't touch his skills. I guess if i took it seriously I could, but still.
wow dude this video really opened my eyes to how fucking awesome Pantera was in the 80s...i never thought i would like anything before phil (power metal era), but damn this was sooo radical...this video made me laugh like a maniac, not at the band but with the band...brings me back to being a teenager and just wanting to party and rock out...fuckin sick vid bro...
I listened there exist an 80´s PanterA home video that packed with footage and two music videos "Hot and Heavy" and "All over tonight" If any one knows where to find it plees tell me.
@sacamedeaca well there are thre live videos and three music videos. DGTTM is on Dime Vision which I deleted once it was available for purchase. The other two videos are still available on my channel. Once I get my camera to digitize again other videos will comeback. My old HDD died so the digitized ones I had are gone. Others on youtube have them up that I digitized. The Original tape is near impossible to find. The one I purchased is the only one I have ever seen.
I was born in 1984 and i still remember that the 80's had the best cartoons and the best music its a shame all they've got today mind numbing shit that'll rot your brain! RIP Dime!
Traditional, Tharsh, Glam. THree favorite kinds of metal in that order. What I don't get is why Glam was so ahted, c'mon, the musicians were good, the music was great, it was fun, it was beautiful, it was fun, it had a soul, none of this Death Metal or Grindcore shit...metal needs to be like the 80's again, we need Speed Metal, Traditional Metal, Melodic Thrash Metal, and yes, Glam!
I love 80s Pantera, especially I Am the Night and Power Metal. CFH and VDOP were fucking great. So much emotion in the ballads especially Cemetary Gates and Hollow. While lyrics are fine on everything on FBD and on, that's when they went downhill. They shoulda went back to the CFH or Power Metal sound.
@sorabulq I don't think they went down after FBD, The Great Southern Trendkill and Reinventing The Steel are great records as well though their live performances lost a lot of energy because the Phil's heroine addiction, tensions etc. But they were great even with those problems.
Too bad that almost no band to-date makes this kind of music anymore :(. All the music now days are mostly computer made shit that makes the band SUCK dick on stage.
There's alot of us out here who prefer the old Pantera's energetic glam metal as opposed to Phil Anselmo's grunting, groaning, and growling about how bad life sucks and how fuct up he is.

Actually, it wasn't Grunge that made Pantera heavier;it was all thanks to an unpopular thrash metal band from New Orleans named Exhorder that released a kickass groove metal demo in 1985 while Pantera were putting on pretty hairspray.
They just flat out based their direction off of Exhorder.
Had it not been them, Pantera would've died as any other glam band just like Warrant or Poison in the 90s.
Amazing quality for a video like this. Seeing this, it makes me think what if they didn't recruit Phil? Would they have still changed metal music throughout the 90's? Although I'm still glad they did.
Def Leppard looks like a handful of shitty posers compared to Pantera. I'm a true Pantera fan and I think that their albums like 'Metal Magic', 'I Am the Night' or 'Projects in the Jungle' are fucking awesome! True Hard Rock and Speed Metal songs! Pantera Rules! R.I.P. Brother Dime!
Back in the alterna-nineties, Pantera seemed to be embarassed by this era. Looking at it now, I see a young band that had so much more talent than any of the cheese metal fucks that ruined metal in the late 80's. Magazines like Guitar World were kissing alot of alternative ass in the 90's claiming that metal was dead, but Darrell was so fucking good that they HAD to give him his own column! He is a true legend of metal guitar and should be recognized for EVERYTHING he did!
Long Live the Hard Roxx Cafe in Lawton, OK in the mid-to-late 80's, where you could see Pantera at least once a month, sometimes 2. FUCK, those were great days!! Never will forget burnin' with "Diamond", Rex, and Vinnie behind the Roxx while Terry Lee got blown 10 feet away!! Good times, man!
