  • P.S. the thumb over the top E method used by McCartney is the difference, but I think this fretting is closest to footage of the bass on this song.

  • I think this version of the bass is only the second of all the covers out there I'd say reproduce the original applied by McCartney.

  • Ooooooooooops and female lol

  • Super palying mdf....I am a bluegrass bass player, upright that is lol and I have been tossed into clasic rock on a fender jazz lol....I am left handed but play right handed geeeeeeeeeesh whats wrong with this pic got one leg and am 61 years old. Learning this is a chalange and I love it ...keep up the great work :)

  • Sick. What kind of bass do u have?

  • @candycorn2626 This is a Lakland 44-02 ( 4 string bass )

  • @infusion26 where I can get the bass tabs?

    : D

  • Like a boss......

  • Awesome bass sound!

  • I learned it a different way.Sounds great here too

  • luv your bass man, im tryin to teach myself at the moment and this is one of the songs that im teachin myself. its a great one

  • buen cover

  • Good job and nice bass

  • whoever said being a bassist was boring :)

  • wow! awesome! teach me please :D

  • PERFECT!

  • Great job!!!

  • I love your sound. What are your eq settings? I'd like to try and get that sound out of my bass.

  • Perfect intonation! Great job!

  • Great!

  • i have covered this song and i was that musch close to upload it here on youtube. but after hearing your cover man i am not, i SUCK, i will redo it. you made me sound like shit, thank you being there dude :)

  • thats totally fake!!! you aren't even plucking!!! its just music!!!

  • Thank you sir. You've just helped me with a gig! :D

  • you make it so boring....

  • love it

  • i can play this on guitar we should collab bro

  • How did you record?

  • I think the way you're playing it is WRONG!!! I'll post a video response of the right way to play Day tripper!

  • @musicnerfngames It's the right way, he got this by ear, and I play almost like him too (difference is I play the 7th fret on G instead of 12th on D - it's the same notes), the way your thinking about is playing the scale on open E, that's only for lead guitar, just listen to the song - it doesn't sound so deep :p

  • @TeamMastaPr2 Yeah it can also very from which bass you have to which fret you play the notes, turning you treble down doesn't always make it sound pristine on the higher frets. I don't think it would be bad idea to play it on open E either though, I've always though of Mr McCartney as a frustrated lead guitarist. I personally would never touch that scale though, I would probably domino the strings into a fuckin awful sound

  • You have nice long fingers to play the bass. I am a bass player myself but don't have fingers like yours. I play this song further up the neck but you are so graceful with those long fingers.

  • I can play this on guitar.

I have an awesome Gibson SG, black.

    Also, I'm a lefty.

  • my brothers a lefty but only can play on right handed guitars/basses

  • tab ??

  • can give the tab for me??

  • You play very cleanly. Top stuff!

  • you give Paul a reason to practice more :)

    Great work.

  • very smooth

  • wow ...your pins of the guitar are very big O_O

  • Fabulous - very impressive.

  • Awesome!

  • That's much better and easier than the way I learned from a different Y/T video. Thanks for straightening me out. It's a bitch because I'm missing my pinky in my Chording hand so the simpler the better. I was going to turn everything around and learn to play lefty but I had already too much time invested in overcoming the pinky problem.

  • Your bass sounds fit.

  • cool.I am teaching myself the bass currently, and I am actually left handed like Paul, but I play the bass set up with the E string on the bottom of the neck.I have the nut and strings switched out. However,i have a long way to go,to be a good bass player.I appreciate your video of this song.I hope to watch this one and many others of yours to learn how to play.Oh by the way,my bass is a copy of Paul's Hofner violin bass.Same color and a left handed bass, but restrung as a right handed bass.

  • @thecoolestdad Good Luck. Have fun and enjoy !!!

  • @thecoolestdad Great inspiration for any bassist! If you think about it, many accomplished guitarists such as yourself (including bassists) are similarly left handed - Paul McCartney, of course, but also Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain ...

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob Yeah you're right.I have seen video clips of Hendrix and from some angles it appears that his strings are all upsidedown, putting the E string on the bottom just like I play.So that would put his smaller strings on top,but then I've seen pics or clips where it appears his strings are setup properly. So I really do not know which way he played, except that he was left handed. As for Cobain I don't know how he strung his guitar.A guy playing with Clapton strings are upsidedown too

  • In the pocket, man...

  • very good man :)

  • That's the original bass sound?

  • wats that little round thing on ur 2nd string by the tuners?

  • fuckin day tripper

  • Please tab this! :D

  • Very nice and "relaxed" played! Well done!

  • dude bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome bass line! Well done.

  • PERFECT COVER!! AWESOME!

  • Nice Lakie! For the time being I have the 44-01, because it's what I can afford. But someday maybe I can upgrade to this. 44-02 right? Sounds amazing. Great cover too!

  • Cool Cover

  • You can play the guitar part at the start on bass and it sounds pretty much the same

  • I played this for a concert on my Bass. I didn't reach so high up the fretboard, but it sounded badass. Our drummer sucked balls tho....

  • Such a nice sound.

  • Wow. Your cover is MUCH better than mine. Great job.

  • damn I just learned this song in the wrong position on my bass using open strings. nice work!

  • i think bass is the more psychedelic sound, iv been listining to all the bass in Beatles songs and my god, the way it compliments (or more, MAKES) each and every song is amazing :)

t5hose are some groovy fingers uv got im going to save up for a bass XD

  • How you record the bass?

  • i love your lakland bass !!

  • love that song! if i close my eyes there is no difference between the original bass and yours. very gooood!!!

  • Smooth playing mate.

  • Great!

  • Where did you learn the parts for songs like these?

  • nice you are great at bass

  • Nice job!

  • flatwound strings? or roundwound?

  • Enjoyed that immensely. What would the easiest song in Bass for the Beatles be?

  • haha, almost all of their songs are easy on bass :)

  • Can't Buy Me Love is a great starter song, it was one of the first I learned.

Love Me Do is probably the easiest, though.

  • this one ive been playing for three months and i learned the intro in 30 minutes

  • freakin awesome, perfect man!!

  • Perfect!

  • good finger work out for beginners this one

  • Monumental tema, con un bajo de pelicula...y habia que ejecutarlo cantando, que les parece?

  • Great Tone!!

  • Just one word: WOW!!!

  • Damn, that's cool !!

  • hey I have that same bass!

  • @Jewan95 That's the fretless, right?

  • @Jewan95

    You're talking to yourself?

It doesn't appear to be fretless. All I know it's a Lakland.

  • no its not a fretless, if it was fretless he would press on the fret marker. he plays behind them so its fretted

  • i can hear this one

  • u r amazing!

  • is there a tab for this way of playing it? coz that would sure help me learn it, coz its best version ive seen of this song...

  • I admire you technique and the sound you get from your bass. beaut!

  • Damn, you are smooth! love the changes. Thanks for posting. Now I have to get out my old Kay hollowbody bass

  • GREAT BASS COVER5/5*****woow

  • THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi dude amazing job :) I was wondering if you had tabs? Because ive got to play this on wednesday. would be really useful thank you :)

  • badass dude!

  • I think I commented on you once before. First off, your tone is PERFECT considering you are not playing a '63 Hofner. Second, even though your playing in note perfect and extremely effortless, you are not playing it the same way Paul did. Your way is actually less "clunky" looking. Paul actually played the bass line the way you started it; 7th fret E note on the A string, and maintained that throughout the song, at least in the live concerts I saw. Tokyo however, he played a lot of single notes.

  • Great job! keep it up!

  • nice work man!!! smooth...

  • great sound !

  • That was so clean, smooth and spot on!

    Classic bass line, sweet!

  • Paul was so melodic, you can see it in his basslines.. all of his basslines are great..

  • That was flawless.

  • its sounds much better on a hofner violin bass! lol

  • You are really good. I'm just learning bass and this is a big inspiration!

  • that is a really good cover and ur bass sounds fantastic!

  • Thanks !!

  • sweet i want to learn how to play base :)

  • Spelled Bass Wrong...

  • great sound !

  • Quite Awesome ;D

  • Thanks :-D

  • dude u played 2 octives higher then the actuall octive

  • great!

  • no, he's playing it right

  • Wow! It's sounds very clean. Good job! ^_^

  • he does look like he's playing it

  • this bass line is so hard ! im learning it

  • nice same i just finished it

  • Perfect, great tone also

  • i dont know where everyone gets the tabs liek this, the only tabs i can find are totally different. all the notes are on the 2nd and 3rd frets

  • I got on ultimate guitar, searched day tripper and went to Day Tripper (ver 2) for bass. I personally think its a pretty good tab.

  • You'll feel much better about yourself if you figure it out on your own than if you use tabs (which may be wrong anyway) Just try listening to it and you'll figure it out

  • I went to barnes and nobel books store and bought the white pages by hal and leonard and it wasnt structured like that it had me moving up and down the fret board like 6 steps to play that riff. it helps to know what key the song is in and figure out the best route to play with minimal movement.

  • Ye if i were you i would learn a finger tehnique called the walking pitch squeal you use your index finger to push your pinky through the strings. It gives you an amazing sound and hendrix even used it.

  • perfecta

  • what bass is that?

  • A Lakland 44-02 bass

  • Who knew this could be so entertaining to watch? Thanks, infusion26...awesome play.

  • second best beatles song

  • Why dont you play it lower? Thats how the guitarist does it..

  • Piano Bug...Because he's not playing the guitar, he's playing the bass - exactly as Paul McDoodle does it.

You might as well be asking 'why aren't you hitting your instrument with wooden sticks as that's how the drummer does it'.

  • tabs please

  • Sorry no tabs !!

  • Your subscription to 'infusion26' has been added.

  • i have the same bass

    =)

  • This is a fun riff to play on the bass.

  • EXCELLENT!
