I remember hearing the NSW Air Ambulance (Australia) Queenairs at full throttle rushing patients over my place when i was a kid...often in the small hours of the morning. They would always wake me up...but i didn't mind of course!
What was the dens. alt at that airport? That looked like a loooong takeoff.
By the way, the sound of approaching "Gopher 80s" is to me the best sound of all aircraft (even more than radials), I still get goosebumps when I hear it - and man it is so rare nowadays. I saw a Queenair depart FXE the other day, I kept on replaying the sound in my head all day long!
Glad you like it, its a normally aspirated engine. The E's became super charged. This one came from Switzerland and actually had mufflers installed, now converted back to original.
Great T-Bone! Love all those exhaust stacks into the augmentors. Sounds great! Looks like a Colorado high density altitude takeoff. The 480's standard or supercharged?
My dream aircraft... What a beautiful bird that is - in looks, sound, elegance.
