Guitar Master states that the only band out of the 80's is Bon Jovi. Well what about Motley Crue. They still sell out today. Bon Jovi's music should be catagorized as "Bitch Rock!" Every song is about or to a girl or a relationship. At least Motley Crue is shouting at the devil. My premise is that "In and out of Love" is my favorite song because of the stlye and music. Bon Jovi should be in the same catagory as Reo Speedwagon and Cheap Trick. "Bitch Rock" plain and fucking simple.
@udz24 you clearly haven't heard many bon jovi songs p.s. bed of roses etc kick ass and by the way around 20% maybe 30 % of bon jovi songs are ballads if you don't like bon jovi fuck off away from his music you don't see me on motley crue vids saying what a pile of shit they are so grow up i don't want to start a argument so please go away if you don't like there songs
This is Bon Jovi as a rock band. A short time after this John must have gotten pussy whipped or something because the type of music they produced lost its edge. Now I know this is a matter of opinion, but its my opinion. Sambora was phenomenal. All of the music written after this is "bitch rock" written to please the female audience. I personally wish the band would have stayed with this format. When this first came out I was fist pumpin. You give love a bad name? John, man up! Kick some ass now
@udz24 You also have to think about what your saying. It was smart Bon Jovi changed there sound after New Jersey because do you think today people would listen to this sound? its very rare. That's why Bon Jovi are the only band out the 80s that are still around today and putting great music out, look at the other bands from the 80s none of them survived throughout the 90s except for Bon Jovi
The 80's were a great time for music for sure. I've seen BonJovi , Ratt, Poison all on their first tours when they were still warm up bands. Then to see all of them become headliners and successfull is pretty cool......
now i know how he pulls off those artificial harmonics on raise your hands, he using the chicken picking technique, just to difficult to get it right with a pick
Is the version on one wild night.. the live album compilation.. is that a shortened version of this?.. i would have never guessed it was edited but looking at this there are parts that are identical.
It's a Les Paul with three hums (by the looks of things Seymour Duncans), a Kahler USA Tremolo (Richie used to endorse them), A neck with star inlays and a Kahler USA Locking Nut (these are different from the FR ones, since they are designed to eliminate the need for a string retainer), custom made by Rod Schoepher (it's got Schoepher written on top instead of Gibson) - hell of a guitar, one far project for you!!!
P.S. at this stage (i.e. in 1985) it still had two hums (presumably Duncan SH-4 JB and a SH-2 Jazz), but Rod must have installed another one in the middle sometime later on.
@pipsqueek14 I guess the video came out after the performance, hence adding the third pup, since it featured them performing in..eh..Brighton, England at the Pier if I'm not mistaken! The pickups may be custom-wound by Rod - that guitar is a bit of mystery in general, since it hasn't been seen past the 7800 period, ca. mid-1986. From there Richie started playing Jacksons, Kramers or at least anything else that had a Floyd, not a Kahler. The endorsement with Kahler evid. didn't run for too long.
awesome. richie is a beast, david and tico are the bomb.. and jon killed the high notes those days.. if he wanted to hit a high note he didnt even need to try.. to fucking cool
Great performance as usual, back then, now and for ever..! But please if somebody gets a time machine let me know I'd go straight back to the early '80s ..nothing like that !!
