Wow, last time I heard Josh in school it was good but not this good! Oh and for all of the arrogant, probably delusional people on this comment thread who think they are better, and for those who think this lacks artistry and the like, I have only one thing to say: he just left school, and he's already winning comps and doing gigs; give it 5 years and you will be worshipping him.
Well to play in front of that much pressure, all those other top notch drummers? To prove yourself and stay cool? To keep time and enjoy youself without suffering stage fright? Anyone can sit at home and crack out a reasonable beat and think they are the cats whiskers. Doing it for real at any age is impressive, don't this at JD's age is pure talent.
I'm just waiting to see him live at Wembley some day!
No! There is no such thing as stage fright once you been on stage more than about 2 times. I learn't. This guy has probably attended and played at workshops and probably countless jam sessions. I've done the same thing (exept on a smaller and more novice scale) loads of times. I started when I was 12 and now im 17.
You're probably just used to watching/listening to the greats. I think for a young kid who is probably not a professional and only plays for fun, this is pretty good.
No I agree, but you have to look at what the competition was like. The rest could have sucked - then this guy would look like Vinnie. But I agree with you - no real structure or "story"....just jdksedhwhwkhwkwjkejkwerjkwehrjkwhrjkwherjkwhrkjwhrjhwrhwehrwrkwrhwkejr for 2 and a half minutes.
hmm i hate these people that just bitch about others videos, get a life boys. if you can do better, why dont you get up infront of 600 people and do a solo better than that. At least he's making his way in the world..
cool well done with that! hope you are happy with being''better''than a 16 year old < what a great acheivment, should be hearing of your name in the industry soon then i guess.. everyones entitled to theyr own opinion, and i respect that, just try to be constructive not just say.. im better, you all suck sorta thing, cuz it in a way makes it seem like you havta put people down to make yourself seem better. just enjoy, and if you dont, just dont comment, easy as that!
What a boytjie - you could teach the old man a thing or two - well done Josh ....

Yeah there was the other drummer, Vadrucci who I think should have won. This guy just used "two hits, two kicks" constantly.

I would have to disagree with you, but thats my opinion. I get stage fright everytime.. but thats just me..
alildrumhappy 3 years ago
Fair enough everyones different.

It does state that this is his 'technical' part of his performance. So there is not really any need for a story.

I hear ya - but I have. And I was way better.
And no, i'm not going to post it to prove it to you. Just ask Jesus - he wept while I did my crossovers.
eskimoposh 3 years ago
You couldn't even cross a road, all Jesus would have wept at is your lack of faith , and your inability to play drums..
