  • chills on my spine... gr888 song

  • Kashmir Aftermath...hmmm very similar. Kashmir must have found inspiration in this great number.

  • If you live away from Australia, you can't help but feel homesick after watching this clip. Thanks for posting champ.

  • BRILLIANT...

  • putain... Je t'aime bien man mais là tu as chier encore.

  • Bravo !

  • Įvairiapusiška, nuostabi, "žaliųjų" grupė :) Daugiau tokių, gal išgelbėsim ŽEMĘ, PASAULĮ GELBĖKIM KIEKVIENAS SAVYJE. Ačiū už viską šiai nuostabiai grupei, nes klausant jų, man atrodo, neimanoma likti abejingu daugeliui dalykų...

  • Clap! Clap! Clap!

  • @ grimsbydocks: you did big mess out there, but not more than french, spanish and all other conquerors did, all men of "mission" who were deeply convinced in ther own higher value, fucking puritans. wine drinking disease spreading spaniards have sailed the south seas and spread syphilis, all kinds of venereal diseases to the paradise world, a big gift that decimated the population..all that you brought is alcohol, gun powder, slavery etc. fuck your history.

and by way, I am white too.

  • Look to the medium term - without Pete's influence there may not of been a direction to help fix environmental problems in this country.

  • how the fuck is Pete to blame for that you ass fucker!!!

Pete and the oils have done more for OZ and it´s people most.

what have you done for your county apart from helping with the dum fucker´s club

  • Just brilliant

  • out this world

  • God we live in a beautiful, harsh continent don't we? I love the sentiment of this song. I still believe in the idea of One Country (as opposed to One Nation). This country was built on the first inhabitants and then people from everywhere in the world. Racism can go and get fucked as far as I'm concerned.

  • @nickburrows70 Me too Nick. Well said mate.

  • @nickburrows70

....men you're SO LUCKY.....for living in a beautiful, prosper, and neat country......I'm a chiliean.....who cries with the songs of MIDNIGHT OIL.....and this one for me ....should be the AUSTRALIA'S ANTHEM......SALUDOS DESDE CHILE.....I hope someday we meet in AUSTRALIA...wherever...you are....!!!!!

  • simply the best......

  • Who gives a fuck if he's entered politics. He's already done a shitload for the nation and if I was Australian I'd be bloody proud of him. Plus the band were unreal.

  • Absolutely true Jaffa and k2. His record speaks volumes and his motives are pure...there is simply no arguement based facts. Peter is just working his passion from within the system. Should he break windows/burn stuff or use his position/power to make real change? I think the answer is obvious.

  • ive loved this group for years ,and my m8s in uk think im mad but hey ,they dont appreciate great music

  • Couldn't agree more my friend

  • Assuming Garrett has sold out and is not interested in serving his country and helping people. Why would he enter politics based on my assumptions above?

    a) to feather his own nest (financially)

    b) because he yearns for fame

Given his is one of the most famous Australians prior to entering politics AND has considerable wealth from his days in Midnight Oil, is leaves a bit of a quandary as to what his motives might be.

So to the critics of Garrett I ask you ....Why has he entered politics??

  • only a man can be only what's his life can be. now he have an acces in the real. peut etre ne s'attendait il pas à ce qu'il a appris et qu'il a du donner une apparence qui vous parait etre un revirement, mais aurait il pu faire mieux ?

Il a des voiles qu'il ne faut pas soulever, si on veut rester candide, mais alors on reste ordinaire, moi je trouve que c'est mieux de rester un citoyen lambda et de cultiver son petit jardin, mais je n'ai pas sa force.

  • Jaffa1311 Are you really that bloody stupid?? he enterd politics to make australia a better and greener place for all of us. His voice does it. all because of his fame of being a greeny. through his music and more.

  • sorry mate I can't understand your broken sentence structure. you could be agreeing with me OR probably missed the subtle undertones in my message. Guess we'll never know....

  • Guess you are stupid then..

  • conpass1, dude, I think you didn't get what Jaffa said... he was not dissing Garrett, he was defending him.

  • One Country

    One People

    One Earth

  • You can't change it from outside!

  • HYPOCRITE: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings (dictionary definition).

That is a direct reference to Peter Garrett's career. It' is just that clear no need to spin this.

  • STONE THROWER: a person who has made absolutely no difference in the world himself, but is content to throw stones at those who have made the world a better place.

This is a direct reference to you, you absolute jackass. DESPERATE need for you to sit on this comment and spin.

  • Bullshit...how is Peter a hypocrite? Just because he's working from within the sytem doesn't make for a sell out. He still fights the good fight. Read his speeches and check his voting record. The world is a better place with leaders like Peter!

  • muito bom!!!

  • awesome! no other way of saying it...Oils kill it!

  • please understand that it is better to have someone that is green in parliment to have a say than a heap of money eating pigs. the process is slow but it has started. petes' hands are tied but he will make a difference.!!

  • Comment removed

  • and another thing . . . he does more before he takes a shit in the morning than you'll do in your whole pathetic life you loser.

  • Cheers on this, and you are absolutely right. Politics are evil. Putting yourself in there to try to make change is something that few would ever consider.

If there were more Peter Garrett's in the world, I think we would all live a better life.

  • He did not sell out - he decided to try to work within the system to make shit happen. If you don't like the rules become a leader and change the rules. People who think he sold out are small minded.

  • essa é a musica q mais gosto dessa banda .....Carlos Lagos São Paulo- Brasil

  • Who wants to mine uranium?

I love his music, but the guy is a sell out.

  • I have heard this quite often from many people now.

Sad. One never thought he would do that.

  • How did this guy sell out?

  • Who can make hard won gains

    Fall like summer rain?

  • people get to try to turn the life better please.

  • Comment removed

  • I have probably listened to this song 100+ times since 1990 ... still gives me chills every time ... glad I stumbled upon it tonight ... arguably one the most underrated/overlooked bands in the history of modern music - post 1980 (at least here in the good ole' USA) ...

  • i couldn't agree with u more....i miss Oil

  • A highly rated band in my book :)

  • Peter Garrett is doing it! He's been appointed the Minister of the Interior for Austrailia! He's now backing it all up with reality! God bless the Oils!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its quite a shame to see such a talent go to shit by going politcal, for real. I wish he stuck to his music. I can remember having this song & others blaring in my ute when it first came out. We have seen the best of peter garret come & go.

  • No doubt this is the best song by the Oils. Love this band.

  • This sounds like the Hoodoo Gurus?? It's like he is trying to sound like them.

  • Garret's no sellout. What makes him a sellout? He's actually getting in there and DOING SOMETHING unlike some singers who just bitch about it all.

  • Puissions nous realiser cette utopie.

  • Great song, great band ever!!!

Australians, with all sure, are proud of that wonderfull band.

    Congrats from Brazil!!!

    MIDNIGHT OIL FOREVER!!!!

  • thanks m8

  • Garret turned out to be a sellout. Such a shame.

  • and just WHAT HAVE you done????

  • What?

  • nice..

  • i only like bed's are burnin'

  • awesome music, with a message.

  • they are so f***ing good!!!!!

  • omg they rule

  • i just love them....wish i could seen them live somewhere...

  • IF YA DON'T LIKE IT, LEAVE !!.

  • Ahhhhh!

  • I hate the oils!

    Nah, they're ok !!

Aah fuck it, They're awesome !!!

  • Damn good song!!! from an equally damn good album... actually all midnight oil albums were good. Cheers to Midnight oil!

  • who indeed can touch the underdog and give them vision and I'm not talking Fred Hollows. Anyhow, I'm off in my fried out Kombie and shooting the curl. Praise to you and yr stand on aboriginal rights.

  • Some Yanks think you can take a one-day ferry trip to NZ. Nothing against Americans...but sometimes the mind boggles....

  • What is really the antagony or rivalry between Nzers and Aussies, coz from where we're standing; it all seems so close to eachother..

  • like US and canada

  • In America we use Airplanes. We have Fairies too but that's a different story. Yes, many Americans are dumb as f*ck but is it really different anywhere else?

  • And yeah, I'm a baby.

  • I swear the build up at 3:00 makes me want to cry everytime.

  • I want to return home after seing this!

  • Mate come home!!!

  • Excellent!!!

  • "Don't call me the tune, I will walk away".

An absolutely brilliant song and a great film clip.

  • Waterfall in the rainforest - I know I have been there, and recall turtles nearby, a little cafe (one of many on the waterfall circuit!), was it Millaa Millaa Falls? Near Malanda, Yungaburra, Atherton Tablelands, etc. Far North Queensland. Midnight Oil classic.

  • They sung this song so well at sound relief

  • Yes wasn't it great, almost dropped a few tears during this one. What a night it was.

  • One of the most beautiful songs and videos from the Oils!!!!

  • magnifique chanson ! belle mélodie

  • What ever your political opinions, most would have to agree that the photographs in the film clip pretty bloody good!

  • One Country..Country One, it says it all.

Whether we're Anglo-Celt, post-war European, Asian or African...I am, you are, we are AUSTRALIAN. Efforts like todays concerts make you hugely appreciative of the country where we live. "Terra Australis" otherwise known since 1901 as Australia. We are mature enough to look after our own bushfire and flood victims but can we accept the history of this historical land pre-European interception...only history will tell but I live and hope my children will

  • I'm enjoying my own Sound Relief concert right here in Longreach, Qld.

I bought the T shirt and made a donation so its a great way to pass Saturday afternoon while the real thing is happening in my home City, of Melbourne.

To the kockers, unfortunately poilitics insists on compromise and it's better to be on the inside making policy decisions than outside... having no effect at all.

PS. nice to see the real Aussie 'purple pub' at Normantion Qld at the start of the clip.

  • yeah garret is a wanker but this song is just great

  • I think we are missing the point this song is about us and our land black ,white or an immirgant that came here.

We are vast hard land but we are all Aussie .American,Irish,Middle East,Asian.

As the song says Country 1.

Think before you speak for all of us

  • Fuck you peter garrett you sellout asshole, the only good thing youve done as our enviromental minister is put yourself on the bill for sound relief, am i right???

  • what a crock

  • for you maybe pal

he used to campaign for a freindly enviroment

well he became the the federal minister of the enviroment in oz

its about his country dood dude

  • hey johnbyronkuhner no,see mate you have to let the song build upto the 3.24,thats the point..its like the stairway to heaven...it has to build toget there, thats what makes it great

  • Cudo. Najlepsza ich płyta. KAŻDY kawałek jest super.

  • Awesome Song

  • Cheesy video. I didn't realize how great this song was until I saw it live in concert and saw how its last few minutes swept the whole audience along with it. It starts being great around 3:24...

  • 2:13

Okay dude, your creeping me out now. Stop it.

    XD

  • hey all of us search for the truth, but any people are a bit blind, cause the fog will clear up, and all of them learn to open their eyes.

A hope but better than agression.

  • americans are all stupid

  • Im an Aussie and proud of it ,but I don"t understand this antagonism towards the American people, tell me, in all the world, what other country would you prefer to dominate? ( Keeping reality in mind )

  • im american and I admit there are alot of stupid people people here (who in their right mind would vote for Obama) but there are also alot of smart americans too.

  • 50% of Americans have below average intelligence

  • hmm, one of those who would get the necessary freedom to evolve in a new manner, a country which we only can imagine today, but won't see its flowering because of economic-strategic reasons.. We don't know what seed we kill by maintaining this status quo, so..

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Garrett sold out years back as far as I'm concerned and I told him so flat to his face and our friendship died over it. If he's Minister of the Environment now it doesn't change what he did in between ( turned his back on everything he sang for back then believe me) However I still love the music of Midnight Oil. Hope to hell he's changed his mind for the last time...

  • And what is this all about ?

  • oh shut the fuck up and listen to the music you pretentious ass

  • m8 he is not god . give him a fair go

  • Peter said here : "don't give me the tune will walk away," so i left you, and I believe he never changes, except in your eyes, man.

  • what a fuckin cunt you are man!!! hes done more for aborigines than most !

    does he have to ,no

singing about the shit that went down made all of us more informed and made a change .what the fuck have you done to make you so fuckin righteous.

  • goblinonacloud must be true what they say the more older you get the more conservative you become.

It was Gunns that showed me that pete had changed, and not for the best I might add.

  • If you say so!! Your a woman are you ? Case closed girly there dumb and I bet I could find one million people that would agree :)

  • Dont worry mate!! I was in the U.S 6 months ago and I was talking to this guy who did not know where milk came from :) So dont worry U.S.A us aussies know you are all dumb as dog shit!!!! And I will be waiting for the Americam brain dead reply to this no dought.

  • Comment removed

  • Why make such generalised statements, not all Americans are 'dumb as dog shit' and you most definitly do not speak for all Australians!

  • yeah driller8080 overgeneralised it.

he shouldve said pretty much all americans are dumb as dog shit + the rest are just dumb + i'd say he speaks for most australians just not suckups like u + john howard

  • Hey mate the guy doesnt speak for me.

  • I totally agree on this one, "mate", but have to tell you that the reason for this is not lack of intelligence but of education. Our educational system is worse than Mexico's but for those who can afford it, we got universities better than Oxford, Sorbonne, Leuven or Heidelberg. We got few of the best and a lot of the least educated ppl in the West. As for the milk; everyone knows it comes from the milk factory, just cos you have none..:-p

  • nemonix85 excuse me if I correct you on this issue. You should have said our education is worse than the U.S.A. instead of Mexico.( I'm not Mexican) Ask any person in the U.S.A. something so simple as: how many hours has a day. They have no idea. ask then how many planets are in the solar system. They don't know. They are the must illiterate people in the world.

  • I'm Canadian and my views on this subject bases around the fact that people are only as illiterate as their government makes them. U.S. is a good place, just has some bad people in it. There's always innocence.

  • haha so true, wars are good for Americans because it helps them learn where countries are on the map.

  • We must be literate enough to have the largest economy in the world. Do you think we asked for a war? No. You may say we elected bush, and we may say he cheated his way into power. The typical American stereotype is a southern hick who clings to his ignorance, bible and guns. Even people in the US make fun of those stereotypes...but the fact is that America has an incredibly wide diversity, and to define us by something that is completely untrue shows that YOU are the ignorant one. -Seattle

  • to say you have unis "better" than oxford etc is quite simplistic. it depends what areas you're studying. i dont disagree that the US has some of the preeminent research unis in the world but that doesnt mean that they are "better" than all the other unis of the world. thats up to opinion and area of study tbh

  • Magnifique Australie,

    Magnifique clip !

  • I am a guy who often feels depressed I must agree but "Midnight Oil" always makes me feel better ....I dont know what it is with this band. Thanks guys....

  • if u take life so serious siob this band has done alot for the australian enviroment m8 and our music culture in oz he now hold,s the enviromental minister of australia m8 u think about it this man makes a difference here it starts with 1 m8 thats all, think about it ?.

  • god i wish i was australian. wish i could meet my 'aussie prince' and he'd take me back to his lovely land. the u.s. is sh*t man.

  • Snooze song is snoooze

  • I feel sorry for you, you PATHETIC wretch! You have no clue what the U.S. is or is not!

  • I'M A DUDE. DUDE.

  • i know it's a land based on unfairness, greed and empty materialism. u sound just like one of those selfish capitalistic pigs.

  • great song. "who'd like to change the world?" raise ur hand if u do! :)

  • Hypocrite..

  • Why?

  • Uma das melhores bandas do mundo... Pq o Brasil não tem um ministro do meio ambiente assim? Uma pessoa com a vida focada em pró do meio ambiente!!

  • May God Bless Ya, Me Bro !

  • why?because the only few peoples tryng to do ,they are found dead.

  • doing well in government?

by abandoning his principles and toeing the party line? by not speaking out about anything? what he's doing could be done by any labour party hack.. pete as politician is a total disappointment.. Its a crying shame

  • you give it a go then mate..

  • haha id love to :).. my point is what is the point of a passionate activist abandoning his principles to put rubber stamps on whatever the labour party wants..

he sure hasnt done any good whatsoever in his position.. he's just done what any other labour minister would.. ie what hes told

  • what's stopping you then, pal? pure apathy?

  • Unless you hold the balance of power, you don't get anything from being an activist.

At least this way he can force some change from within.

  • We have been waiting since labour was elected for peter to make his mark on politics, and so far the government's lack of decisive environmental policy has been put down to Garrets newness to this side of politics by his supporters. The incredibly pitiful 2020 emissions targets, however, seem to show that Garrett has either abandoned some of his previous passion, or has very little power within the government. Hopefully this changes before his term is over.

  • I'm not pleased about the 5% target either, but I think with the financial crisis its at least something.

It could have easily been shelved.

  • Peter Garrett is in office now?

  • Yep.Hes Australias minister for the environment, and hes doing a pretty good job.

  • viva midnight oil!! bravissimo!!

  • Oh quelle surprise, je ne savais pas qu'il y avait une vidéo pour ce titre :)

Dommage que le groupe n'existe plus... il me manque :(

  • Greatest Kiwi band ever.

  • Swing and a miss!

  • Greatest Ozzie band ever.

  • Correct.

  • yeah all right he looks like a giant pigeon when dances, but he is is not brit, is he?

    Bird story now?

  • beautiful song by one of Australia's greatest music acts.
